Chapter 93
Chapter 93 The Evil Grin
“What's with that evil grin?” Jordan grabbed Atken’s ear. “Mind your manners.”
“It hurts, Dad!”
Aiken didn’t expect to see his father just as he was about to make advances on Mala. “lm a goddamn star. | have an image to maintain.”
Trying not to laugh, Maia said, “For your sake, I’ve told my staff to give us some privacy.” “| appreciate it, Maia,” Aiken said with a bitter grin.
It was only until they reached Maia’s office that Jordan let go of Aiken’s ear.
“You little shit! | was so proud when | heard you tackled Bruno, and yet you tried to be disrespectful to Maia. Is this how | raised you?”
As he spoke, he tried to smack his buttocks, and Aiken tried in vain to stop him.
“Come on, Dad!”
Aiken howled.
Maia chuckled, seeing their interaction.
“| heard the company offered to host The Quest, and you dared to say no? You think you’re some kind of big shot, huh?” “No, Dad! My agent said no, and I’ve told her I’m interested in the job.”
“Oh, yeah?” Jordan was unconvinced.
“You can ask Maia. | was promoting myself to her just now, okay?” Aiken gave her a pleading look.
“He did, Jordan, but when | tried to convince him to become our artist, he didn’t seem interested.” Maia shook her head helplessly.
“| was told during the meeting that more than ten companies have approached him. | guess he has his plan, and he rejected the offer for The Quest because Starlight isn’t good enough for him.”
As if she were disappointed, she let out a heavy sigh.
Aiken was stupefied. “I have to hand it to you, Maia.”NôvelDrama.Org © content.
“So we're not good enough for you, huh?” Jordan said as he tried to smack him again. Aiken quickly hid behind Maia. “Maia, you’re full of tricks, aren’t you?”
Maia said what she said so that Aiken would have no choice but to say yes.
“So, when your contract ends next month, will you consider us?”
“No, no, no!” Aiken said.
Exasperated, Jordan tried to smack his buttocks again.
“No! Dad, please hear me out, all right? I’m trying to say I’ve decided to sign with you guys no matter what!” Aiken spoke earnestly.
Maia couldn't help but stifle a smile. It was great news for Starlight. Jordan took a wet wipe to clean his hand. “That's more like it.“ “Dad, what’s with the wet wipes?”
“God knows where you've been?”
Aiken was exasperated. “You call yourself a dad?”
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“Nothing.” Aiken let out a grin.
“It's that stupid grin again!” Jordan tried to smack his buttocks again. Maia quickly stopped him. “Calm down, Jordan. He’s just a kid.” Aiken let out a sad look. “You call me a kid?”
“Do you prefer your dad to smack you?” Maia whispered.
Aiken quickly shut up.
“Simmer down, Jordan.” Maia smiled at Jordan. “Have some tea.” She pressed the intercom button and asked the secretary to bring tea.
The secretary entered and was stunned to see Jordan. Not expecting to see him at Starlight, she easily guessed what the actor was doing there.
“Here’s the tea, Ms. Maia,” the secretary said with a smile.
“Give it to Mr. Jordan.”
“Sure.” The secretary did so and turned to leave.
Maia stopped her. “Wait a minute, Irene.”
“Yes, Ms. Maia?”
“Get the PR department to bring the contract for the host of The Quest.”
“Right away.”
Five minutes later, a PR executive hurried to the office.
“Ms. Mala,” he greeted Mala and knowingly handed the contract to Alken with a smile. Aiken took the contract and signed it without hesitation.
“Mr. Aiken, is your agency okay with you signing it without consulting them? We can approach them with the contract, you know.” The executive knew how difficult Aiken’s agency was.
“No problem.” Aiken was certain. “They respect my every decision.”
That was the only way they would be able to keep him.
“That’s great, then.” Relieved, the executive smiled happily at Maia. “Now we can start promoting the show. The lists of contestants from various entertainment companies are almost finalized, and we can proceed with making the first episode next week.”
