Chapter 2061
Yesterday, they spent the whole afternoon at the supermarket.
"How about you cook, and I catch some more Z's?" Alaric flashed his charming eyes at Hertha, his gaze a mix of flirtation and laziness, as if he was casting a spell or playfully whining.
Just one look from him turned Hertha's insides to mush.
Good Lord, Alaric was too good at this flirtation game. Using his good looks to tempt her first thing in the morning.
Hertha was head over heels, about to agree, when her inner voice of reason awakened, stopping her love-struck brain dead in its tracks.
No way, she couldn't just cave every time Alaric turned on his charm; otherwise, she'd end up waiting on him hand and foot in the future. Wasn't raising two kids enough without adding a grown-up child to the mix? This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.
She absolutely couldn't let him get away with it.
Hertha shook off her dazed expression and firmly told Alaric, "You've got to learn. There are tons of cooking tutorials online; just look one up and give it a try."
"But if I mess it up, that's just a waste of time, right? How about I just go out and grab some breakfast instead?" Alaric was up now, but he still wasn't keen on cooking.
Hertha stood her ground, "That won't do. If we keep buying food, what about all the groceries in the fridge? They'll go bad. You're a father of two now; you need to learn to cook for the kids."
"The kids have their grandma, don't they?" Alaric scratched his head.
"Do you want their grandma to spend her whole life here looking after our kids? Don't you think she and my dad deserve some privacy?" Hertha glared at him.
"I've already taken up so much of my
mom's time. It's embarrassing enough without expecting her to keep looking after two kids." Hertha reasoned with Alaric, trying to make him see sense.
"Our parents aren't getting any younger, do they really need to be here all the time?" Alaric mumbled.
"What, old folks don't deserve a bit
of time for themselves? Their desire for love and romance is probably stronger than ours." As she spoke, Hertha got out of bed and started making it.
Alaric was finally persuaded, "Alright, I'll cook."
This time, he sounded determined, thinking of the future meals he'd prepare for the kids. Imagining the kids eating his cooking, looking all cute and cuddly, suddenly filled him with a sense of achievement.
Yeah, he was going to master cooking!
Alaric headed to the kitchen, full of confidence.
Hertha came out of the room to see Alaric, apron on, bustling about the kitchen like a pro. She couldn't help but smile, relieved.
Good thing she stood her ground, or she might have missed the chance to get Alaric into cooking. Getting him to learn now would have been even harder.
Thinking about Alaric, a man of privilege, humbling himself to cook for her was incredibly satisfying.
Hertha cheerfully headed to the bathroom, feeling like everything was more interesting when in a good mood. Even brushing her teeth felt sweeter than usual.
