Worship The Ground You Walk On

Chapter 14: Be A Man

Chapter 14: Be A Man

Kim was sitting on the sofa and watching TV with a facial mask when she received the message. She

bounced up and threw the mask away. Then she dashed out without even washing her face.

When she arrived at the hospital, Claudia had been in the delivery room for an hour.

Doctor Gerren came out of the delivery room and said, “The mother was severely injured, leading to

premature delivery. Also, the malposition of the fetus had caused difficult labor!”

Winifred was stunned, "What?"

Blair was standing next to her. She looked like everything was just as she presumed. She asked,

“Doctor, are you here to ask us if we want to keep the mother or the baby?”

Gerren looked at Blair. They read each other's hints.

Kim noticed their micro-expressions and immediately understood everything!

“If we have to make that decision...” Winifred thought about it and made up her mind. “Keep the baby.”

Kim was startled and almost yelled out!

This bunch of jerks must have plotted this scheme since a long time ago.

She would never allow them to have their way.

Since it would be hard for her to save Claudia alone. She was wondering how she could make this

work...

She paced back and forth anxiously and suddenly saw a tall figure coming from a distance. Kim

seemed to have seen the silver lining.

"Marshall!"

She rushed over and stopped him. "Help Claudia, please!"

Marshall was a thoracic surgeon. He had just finished his surgery and didn't know what had happened

to Claudia. He tensed up when he heard someone calling his name.

“What is going on?” he asked.

Kim inclined to his ear and whispered everything to him. Then she clutched his wrist tight and begged,

“Please! Claudia will be in danger if you don’t do anything.”

“Got it.”

He strode towards the delivery room as soon as he finished speaking.

But before he walked in, he stopped by a nurse. “Doctor Cooper, this is the delivery room, not the

thoracic department. We don’t need you in here.”

“Well...”

Marshall didn’t know how to argue.

The nurse then said, “No one will be allowed inside except for the husband!”

She closed the door after that, leaving Marshall standing aside in embarrassment. He was extremely

anxious, but there was nothing he could do about it.

Amber said, "Marshall, you were my sister's former fiancé, but I don’t think they would allow you in

there for that."

“Yeah, Marshall. You and Claudia are over. You should stay away from our family business. Just leave

her alone,” Blair added.

Marshall was frustrated and gloomy.

Kim dragged him away and whispered, “Marshall, Gerren just said that Claudia was in difficult labor,

and I have a copy of her check-up records. Take a look!”

She believed that Blair and Gerren had some very dark secrets under the table.

As she gave all the copies to him, Kim whispered, “Don’t leave until I come back. I’ll call you!”

She said and went downstairs as quickly as she could.

Ben was in the ER downstairs, just as she had expected.

Hanna’s treatment was over. She was wrapped in bandages because of the multiple injuries on her

body, and she had a few band-aids on her head. She was lying in bed, looking haggard and weak.

Ben stayed by her bedside and held her hand. This was such a warm and moving scene until it was

interrupted by a kick on the door.

Kim furiously kicked the door open and stormed in.

“I can’t believe you are still here!” She said.

Kim lost her temper. “Your wife’s giving birth to your baby right now, and you’re here with the other

woman?”

“...”

“Do you know that Blair and Amber have colluded with the doctor to murder your wife, and then they

will let Amber marry you and be your child's stepmother?”

“She’s your wife! It’s your baby! Should you at least be a little bit concerned about that?”

Kim was really mad, and she dropped those words on him in one breath.

Ben's face became more and more gloomy, and he recalled that Claudia was lying on the ground when

he left with Hanna in his arms. Moreover, he seemed to have pushed her...

Before Kim could finish her words, he quickly got up and left the room.

Hanna looked at Kim and struggled to sit up on the bed. Then she asked, “How is Mrs. Crawford?”

“It’s none of your business!”

Kim was in a hurry. She didn't want to waste her time talking to her. She stormed out of the room in a

rage.

The doctor came out again with a consent form in her hand. “She's in a critical condition and bleeding

heavily. We need a family member to sign this and let us know if we should keep the mother or the

baby!” NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.

Winifred gritted her teeth. “Keep the baby!”

“Who told you that?”

Ben's cold voice came from behind. This time it sounded so chilly and horrifying. Winifred felt

overwhelmed by the aggression in his words.

Kim followed him behind like a cute little footman.

Winifred stared at him and said, “Ben, the baby is all that matters. As for Claudia… we will make up for

her!”

“How?” He asked as he took over the consent form from the doctor.

“The doctor will try their best to save her. Should they fail, we would give her an elaborate funeral.

Above all, she's the mother of my grandson!” Winifred said.

Kim was enraged, she retorted, “You are a typical vicious mother-in-law! Would your decision be the

same if she were your daughter?”

“You can't bully her like that just because her real mom isn’t here.”

Kim contradicted everything Winifred said in a rage.

“How dare you talk to me like that?”

When Winifred was about to get madder, Kim hid directly behind Ben.

Ben ignored her and kept staring at Winifred. At last, Winifred stopped mumbling because of fear.

Marshall had been staying. Seeing what was happening, his brow furrowed. “Claudia is all that matters,

not the baby!”

“Yeah! That's right!” Kim seconded.

Ben glanced at Marshall hostilely. He knew everything about the engagement between him and

Claudia,

He never thought Marshall would show up at this critical moment!

“Humph!” Ben sneered, and then said, “Claudia’s my wife, and she’s bearing my child, which means

that I have the final say!”

“In that case, you should have protected her well! Ben, you should be ashamed of yourself if you failed

to protect your woman!”

Marshall was furious. This time, he was trying to prod Ben into action by saying those things.

Ben smiled contemptuously. He glanced over Marshall and said to the doctor, “Go get ready, I’m

coming into the delivery room.”

“Well...” The doctor hesitated with a guilty look.

“What? Do you need me to contact the director?” Ben threatened her.

He never knew those people would be so reckless. They were trying to murder his wife!

No matter how Claudia was, and no matter she was a mute or not, she was his wife!

Those who dared hurt her would end up miserable.

Soon, Ben was gowned, and he stepped into the delivery room.

Claudia was almost exhausted. She was lying in bed infirmly. Her legs were raised high with blue cloth

on her body. Gerren and the midwife nurse asked her to take a deep breath and push.

She was soaked in sweats and panted weakly.
