“There’s a mistake in the financial report. The numbers don’t add up.
“I'm surprised that the famous Mr. Larkin would steal glances at other corporations’ information.”
“We're not strangers.” Cedric corrected. “You need to pay attention to your company’s financial status to build a good business.”
Mala knew that Cedric was a prodigy in his field, but she did not expect him to be able to see through her company’s problems so easily. Furthermore, all the numbers he had pointed out did not add up.
“Jordan isn’t coming back with you?” Cedric asked.
Maia’s attention was drawn to her finance report. Absent—mindedly, she revealed, “Nope, he wants to settle things back at Eldertown. He'll be back in a few days.
“It looks like the chief financial officer is back to settle his debt.”
She realized she had told Cedric everything. She wanted to smack herself on the head for letting her guard down. “Thank you for your advice, but you should mind your business.”
“Anything that has to do with you is my business.”
Maia was taken aback for a second before going back to checking her financial reports and acting like she did not hear him. Almost half of those reports had a problem.
She knew Buck had no experience in this field, so he would not have noticed anything wrong.
sS were a mess, so
She hated to admit it, but Cedric was right. Starlight Entertainment's finances she had to do something about it.
It was already 10 p.m. when the plane touched down.
Numerous reporters were camped outside the airport, waiting for them. They were eager
to get a photo of all three of them. Cedric, Maia, and Aiken together would make the front page of any newspaper or magazine.
Chapter 63 As Long as | Love You
“Say that again.” Cedric grabbed her wrist and gave her a deadpan look.
“I've said it over and over again. | don’t love you anymore, and | won't love you again. The Mala you knew is dead!
He pulled her in and kissed her lips to silence her. Maia’s eyes were wide with shock as she struggled against his embrace. She bit his lips hard and shoved him away from her.
Cedric cried out in pain as her shove caused him to pull his back injury. He smirked as he wiped the blood off his lips. “It’s enough as long as | love you.”
Just then, the car pulled to a stop. Baz tried to remain invisible as he got out of the car quietly.
Maia studied her surroundings. Prismara Hill was brightly lit, and when she saw his villa, the memory of that winter day came rushing back into her head. She did not want to continue sharing the same room with him, so she exited the car.
The chilly night wind calmed her down as her mind cleared up. She took a deep breath and called Buck. Sadly, her cell phone was snatched out of her hand and tossed aside. “Stay,” he demanded.
Maia smiled mockingly. “Stay? You can’t change my mind. Yes, | used to love you, but that’s over now. We'll never be together again. Besides, I’m getting married soon, so you should
leave me alone.’ Cedric grabbed her wrists. “Who are you getting married to?”
“Nigel. In my darkest days, he was always there for me. Making sure that | wasn’t alone and taking care of me. It made me realize that just being present was such an important thing. I’m forever grateful to him.
She wanted Cedric to leave her alone and needed a reason to stop his advances entirely. “Being grateful is different from loving someone,” Cedric said quietly. He was sure that she did not love Nigel.
“I'll worry about that. If you still love me, then you should leave me alone. We're over. | don’t want to see you again! We should move on with our own lives.”
Maia stared straight into his eyes. Her words were calm and determined.
Her words cut him like a knife. He offered her his heart, but she tore it into pieces. Cedric smiled sadly. He had experienced so many forms of heartache within such a short period. How did she endure this in the past?

Cedric had already informed Baz to prepare access to the VIP exit. Those reporters outside were wasting their time because they would not be able to see them.
“Mr. Cedric, the car is ready. The family doctor is also waiting for you at your residence,” Baz informed Cedric politely. Cedric nodded and got into the car without saying a word to Maia.
Just then, Maia’s cell phone rang. She answered the call, knowing it was Nigel from the caller ID. “Hi, Nigel.”
“Maia, are you already at the airport? I’m here to pick you up.
Maia took a glance at her surroundings and quickly sent Nigel her location. Soon after, Nigel was there along with Aiken’s drive home.
“Maia, let me send you home!” Aiken smiled charmingly at her as he gestured for her to get into his car. Before Maia could decline his offer, Nigel parked his car in front of her and got off.
“Maia, let’s go.” “There’s no need to trouble you. | can send her home.”
Nigel knew who Aiken was the moment he set eyes on him. His tone was gentle, but his response was firm, “You are the biggest star in our city, and you have fans everywhere. What if a tabloid took a photo of you sending Maia home? It would only affect your reputation. Let me send her home instead.”
Aiken’s manager and assistant nodded eagerly to show they fully supported Nigel’s. suggestion.
“So, what if they got a photo of us together? | have nothing to hide! Besides, it was the least | could do after she had offered to fly me back. | also must ensure Maia gets home safely, as my father has asked me to look after her.” Aiken was not backing down.
The two men worsened the situation, as neither would give in. Why were they even fighting over such a minor issue? When she was about to break up the senseless argument, a Maybach pulled over in front of her and opened one of its doors. Cedric grabbed Maia’s wrist and pulled her into the car while Nigel and Aiken were busy arguing with each other.
Before Maia could even protest, the door closed, and Cedric opened his window to smirk triumphantly at the two. “We’re leaving now. Have fun with your argument!”
Maia was furious at Cedric as he had manhandled her and dragged her into his car. She tried to break free from his hold, but to no avail. Seconds later, the car was speeding towards the exit
Nigel and Aiken finally realized that they had been duped. At first, it was astonishing how he had left them to their own devices and got into his car quietly. It was all a scheme to get them to lower their guards so that he could benefit from their fight.
Although they had used the VIP passage to get to the airport's parking area, the reporters and fans were able to notice this and rush to the parking lots.
When Aiken’s manager noticed a crowd rushing towards them, he immediately instructed Aiken to get into the car. Aiken jumped right in and put on his sunglasses. Before leaving, he lowered his window partially to bid his fans farewell.
However, Nigel's exit was blocked by a bunch of reporters. Nigel was a famous lawyer both at home and abroad. Moreover, Starlight Entertainment was also one of his main clients.
Countless rumors were going around speculating about his relationship with Maia Burgess.
Even though they could not interview Maia and Cedric Larkin, they were still very interested in Nigel. At least some of their work had paid off.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
“Mr. Nigel, we're here to pick up Ms. Maia?”
“Since you've made time out of your schedule just to see her, does this mean you are more than just friends?”
“Mr. Nigel, seeing that Ms. Maia is not in your car, did she leave with Mr. Cedric?”
Nigel had no choice but to wait for airport security as the reporters blocked his car. He could feel his patience disappearing as the reporters kept badgering him with questions.
Nigel finally could bear no more as he replied, “If you continue to crowd around my car, | will have no choice but to contact my team. I’ve recently recruited a few new trainees, and they’re still quite lacking. Would you like to be one of my recruit’s cases?”
He may look kind and gentle on the outside, but he was not someone that others could easily mess with. After all, he was a famous lawyer.
The reporters had already left the scene by the time airport security arrived.
Back in the city, the atmosphere inside the Maybach was suffocating. Maia stared at the scenery outside her window, refusing to speak. She knew fighting was pointless as Cedric would not allow her to get out of the car.
As the car continued to drive on, she noticed it was headed in the opposite direction of her residence. This was the way to Prismara Hill!
“Cedric, you’re headed in the wrong direction! This is not the way to my place.” +15 BONUS “No?” Cedric raised an eyebrow. “What's mine is also yours!
Maia was fuming with anger. She did not want to waste energy arguing with him. She turned towards Baz and demanded, “Stop the car. I’m getting off!”
“Ms. Mala, why don’t you give Mr. Cedric a chance? He went through all the trouble to get you away from the other gentlemen. Please give him a chance,” Baz sighed as he tried to persuade
her.
It finally dawned on her that this was all Cedric’s scheming. “You were the one who
to
got Nigel
come to the airport. You knew that Aiken would offer to send me home, so you got him to distract Aiken, creating conflict!”
Maia should have known that he was up to no good. He had already started scheming the moment he got off the plane, so he did not continue to bug her and left with Baz..
“How could | possibly allow another man to send my woman home?” “You're such a dreadful person!” Cedric just smiled at her insult. “I’m still a patient, and you must care for me.”
“Take care of you? I’ve already paid for your bills, and you still expect more from me? Cedric, if | knew you were the one who saved me, | would rather die than owe you a favor!” Maia exclaimed angrily.
