We Got Love, The Crazy Kind

Chapter 41 Why Does She React So Aggressively?

Chapter 41 Why Does She React So Aggressively?

Amber stared at Liam incredulously. He sounded very sure that she would accept his charity and every

arrangement he made for her readily.

That was what she hated most about him—his innate sense of superiority and condescending manner.

The way he looked down on her and pitied her drove her up the wall.

“Please stop meddling in my business in the future!” Right after saying that Amber strode back to her

bedroom furiously.

She was indeed an ordinary folk, but that did not make her any less of his equal! She did not need his

charity or his sympathy!

Liam was dumbstruck while he watched Amber walking away. He stood rooted to the spot in silence for

a while before heading back to his study room.

He could not see why Amber reacted so aggressively to the new sheets he bought for her. In his

opinion, he merely did it out of kindness.

At last, he concluded that Amber was probably in one of her mood swings during her period. While

Liam was staring at his reflection on the glass windowpane, he realized to his horror that he couldn’t

stop himself from spending his time and effort on Amber.

He frowned in irritation at that thought. To distract himself, he put a vinyl record on a gramophone and

immersed his soul in the melody of “Afternoon of a Faun” by Claude Debussy.

Meanwhile, Amber was having a video call with Pearl. Thanks to that, she was slowly able to calm

herself down.

Things seemed to be working out fine on Pearl’s side. She had almost completed all the preliminary Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.

examinations, and the next step was to undergo a final examination before the surgery.

“Amber, thanks for sending all my favorite snacks over here!” On the screen, Pearl looked energetic

and in good spirits.

Amber was dumbfounded because she did not send Pearl any snacks. As snacks generally contained

food additives and preservatives which were not good for health, she did not send any to Pearl lest

they might undermine the effectiveness of the surgery.

“Pearl, I didn’t send you the snacks. How did you get them?” Amber’s voice was strained with anxiety.

She dreaded to imagine what would happen if the snacks were sent to Pearl by someone who tried to

harm her.

“A nurse brought them to me, saying that the snacks were sent from my home country. Amber, are you

sure you didn’t buy them?” Pearl sounded equally confused.

Amber pondered over what she said…

It just occurred to her that Liam had asked her about Pearl’s favorite food before. He must be the one

who sent the snacks to Pearl!

Amber was surprised by how Liam had gone the extra mile to take care of Pearl’s needs. He was not

obligated to do so since his relationship with Amber was nothing more than a deal.

Amber bit her lower lip as she felt a twinge of guilt deep down inside. She reflected on her attitude

earlier and wondered whether she was being too harsh on him.

“Amber, are you still there? Have you found out who sent me the snacks? Could Emma be the one who

did it?” Pearl asked when Amber fell silent.

Amber shook her head. “It’s not Emma. I think the snacks are from Liam.”

Upon hearing that, a bright smile spread across Pearl’s face. “Oh, it’s Liam! I adore that guy. Amber,

could you please thank him on my behalf?”

“I will.” After having some small talk with Pearl, Amber ended the video call feeling preoccupied.

“Should I apologize to Liam? Perhaps, he only bought the sheets for me out of kindness instead of

sympathy.”

“Am I being too sensitive?” she wondered.

After ruminating about the issue for some time, she made her way to his study room and knocked on

the door.

She was sure Liam was inside because she could hear music playing from the gramophone. After

adjusting her emotions, she put on the brightest smile she could manage on her face.
