The Whole World Seems To Be Falling For My Wife

Chapter 36 A Chat With Maria

The two of them drank up a whole bottle of wine.

In her inebriated state, Julie soon dozed off.

After a long time, she was finally awakened by the sound from the piano room upstairs.

Vivian was quite a talented singer.

Otherwise, Lydia would never have agreed to teach her.

However, Julie had personally never liked Vivian's singing.

Every time Vivian went to the piano room to practice, Julie felt suffocated, like she didn't even want to stay in the villa.

At this time, Patricia had already gone back home.

Julie looked around the house, but there was no sign of her husband.

Bill had probably gone out to socialize with his friends.

She stood up slowly, and her knees still wobbled a little.

But the constant sound of bel canto from upstairs urged her to leave the house as soon as possible.

Julie felt as if a boulder was pressing on her chest.

It was only after she walked into the yard of the villa and the sound of Vivian's singing faded into the distance that she breathed a long sigh of relief.

To her surprise, Julie suddenly saw a figure dressed in white on the lawn.

Upon taking a closer look, she found that it was Maria, practicing karate in a traditional white uniform.

It was dusk, and the sun was quickly sinking towards the horizon.

In the dim light, Maria's smooth and graceful moves looked even more powerful.

Julie was so fascinated by the scene that her spirits rose again.

Even the grogginess from the wine gradually wore off.

When Maria stopped, Julie couldn't help asking her about it.

"You seem very proficient in karate.Which master did you learn it from?"

As soon as Julie finished her question, however, she regretted saying those words.

After all, Maria came from the countryside.

How could she know a master? But still...

Regret? Julie had always been a prideful woman.

The emotion she hated the most was regret.

"I taught myself. There are many videos about karate on the Internet," Maria said flatly.

Her words were always short and concise. She was not the type to voluntarily divulge information, such as the fact that she was only practicing karate in order to ease the frequency of her narcolepsy episodes.

"You've learned it very well.I know some karate masters, but I find them to be just so-so."

Julie wanted to say something more, but quickly stopped herself.

She had been about to say that Maria had a knack for learning new things, and that if she went back to school, she would probably have a promising future.

But on second thought, she realized that it was ridiculous to say such a thing.

Maria was an orphan who had only graduated from high school.

She'd probably spent her whole life in that small town if the Jenkins didn't bring her to Sheffield.

What could she possibly achieve in life? For a girl like her, marrying into the Wilson family on Vivian's behalf was already an unimaginably fortunate fate.

In fact, Julie was surprised to find herself even chatting with Maria.

She had never imagined that she would waste time on this so-called adopted daughter.

However, Vivian's singing in the villa still hadn't subsided.

Compared to that, Julie would be happy to chat with a brick wall, let alone Maria.

And the truth was, she felt inexplicably relaxed when talking to Maria.

"You...Have you eaten yet?"

Julie didn't know what else to say, so she made small talk.

Maria nodded.

"I made some noodles.I just finished them."

Hearing this, Julie was stunned. She frowned and asked, "You made noodles yourself? Where is the maid?"

She was upset again.

Lily had been hired as a maid for the Jenkins family with a decent pay.

Even if Maria was an adopted daughter, she was still the daughter of the Jenkins family.

How could Lily neglect Maria like this? "I don't know,"

Maria answered honestly. She really didn't know where Lily had gone, nor did she care.

Earlier when Patricia was showing off her authority, Maria felt another narcolepsy attack coming on.She had hurried back to her room to take a nap.

Both she and Julie had missed dinner tonight.

Seizing the opportunity, Lily had only made dinner for Bill and Vivian, and rushed out without preparing food for anyone else.

But at this moment, a low growl sounded from Julie's stomach. This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.

Being a noble lady, Julie blushed at once. She was starving, but having grown up in a rich family, she didn't know the first thing about cooking.

Looking at Julie up and down, Maria suggested, "Would you like some noodles?"
