Chapter 98
Chapter 98
Brandon’s Pov
I sat on the ineffective bed, waiting for the session to end. Nestor couldn’t even bring my cozy bed,
which always made my back feel better. I was lost in thought; Thalia’s attitude toward the liver was
disappointing. Josh was a man who had lost everything, and if he found out he had a daughter, he
would plan and kidnap her. He’d try to exact vengeance on her for the hell we inflicted on him.
That was what I would do if I were in his shoes. It was clear he didn’t have the financial means to take
us on, but Thalia was hell-bent on being a holier-than-thou Christian and somewhere at the back of her
brain she thought Josh was also on the path of righteousness. And once she confessed he was going
to cry and embrace her, leading to them living happily ever after. It was a headache just thinking about
it.
I had no idea how I missed that, I always thought she was going to one day give up and live a quiet life
with her daughter. But her becoming holy and confessing was something surprising.
Maybe it was because she had a near-death experience or something and somehow saw the hell that
awaited her. I had read a lot of stories of people changing once they encountered a near-death
situation. I gritted my teeth and looked at the time, my session was almost over and I sighed with relief. © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
The door opened and Nestor walked in and took a chair. “What is next? Should I make contact or we
kidnap Josh?” he asked. He was also anxious about which decision I was going to make. I was always
stubborn and my plans were always first.
I only looked at him, I was yet to make a decision, in fact, I was confused. Maybe going with her wishes
was the only solution but that was going to expose us if we refused his terms and were left with stealing
the liver option.
“Where is Thalia?” I asked.
“Sleeping in her room. We are running out of time,” he reminded me.
“Go and try talking to her, if she wants to reconcile with Josh and start a new life it was still possible
after we get that liver,” I reasoned.
“But sir,” he tried to protest. I raised my hand and pointed to the door. He sighed and got up, if there
was anyone who could pump some sense in her, it was him. He walked out of the room and all I could
do was cross my fingers. While he was at it, I began checking my emails for any hope for the liver but
there was nothing.
I nearly screamed, I controlled myself and tossed the tablet aside. Before I knew it, I was dozing, the
dumb machine was taking all my energy and by the time I came around, it was morning. The b*oody
b*stard could not even wake me up when I had sent him on an errand. As soon as he saw my eyes
open he moved nearer.
“Thalia plans to talk to Josh today,” he stated. I looked away p*ssed, my eyes trailing to the s*upid
machine, I could only guess I was due. Slept with the machine on and woke up with the machine again.
“Sir we are running out of time and it looks like it’s her way.”
“I know, where does that whale live?” I asked.
“What whale?” He asked, confused.
“Ugly Josh of course? I nicknamed him as a whale because of his alcohol intake and weight gain,” I
replied.
“He lives in an old apartment, he usually keeps to himself and has cut himself off from the outside
world. I guess he never had real friends,” he remarked. I kept quiet, feeling attacked as I recalled how
my life felt like when I was first diagnosed.
All the linches that wanted to cling to me only for the purpose of me including them in my will or
donating to their useless company or organization. Such was life and a person always got to know who
his real friends were at the lowest point of his life.
I could only guess his situation was different but he was still man enough to hold on to life and we were
about to give him more determination to live once we spill the news about the baby. It was like the
lifeline I was given when I first met Thalia in that hideous sweater of hers. Her story was so pathetic
that it got me curious and I took her home.
I chuckled remembering how scared she was when she realized the decision she had made and tried
to run away. We had really come a long way and it looked like she was determined to live, even if the
machine malfunctioned and I died she had someone she was willing to live for.
“Sir are you okay?” Nestor asked.
“I’m okay, what?
“You have tears… in your eyes,” he replied pointing at my left eye.
I slowly tried lifting my right hand, in an attempt to check but I failed miserably, it felt like it was stone or
someone had put cement in it. It was not painful, it only felt heavy in a weird way. I pretended like it was
nothing and gave him a fake smile.
I did not want to alert him so I lifted my left hand instead and wiped the s*upid tear. “It’s the machine, it
makes my eyes watery,” I lied and looked away. Deep down I knew it was Thalia and that little human
fighting for her life.
“How many hours to the whales’ apartment?” I asked. He gave me a confused look. But in those
seconds I had made up my decision. I was going for Thalia’s plan but in a scenario, that whale began
making s*upid demands I was going to kidnap it and steal the liver.
“Boss, I think you should let Thalia do the talking,” he suggested.
“She is going to accept all of his demands or even make s*upid offers to him ” I replied and unhooked
myself from the machine. The time was up, I had become accustomed to how to unplug myself, that
was always the best part for me.
I planned to utilize the six hours to full potential. I tested my right hand and it moved, I could only
assume it was the machine or something was not going as planned. I decided I was going to keep my
mouth shut until I solved the liver issue.
“Sir, where are you going?” Nestor asked.
“To inform Thalia about the good news,” I replied and led the way.
“Sir I think you need to rest, you can call Josh tomorrow, going to visit him is not necessary,” he said
but I ignored him and went out of the room. Every fiber of me ached. I stopped and leaned against a
wall. Nestor matched up to me and I yelled at him to get the painkillers but he kept insisting I head back
to my room.
He was so irritating most of the time. I yelled at him to shut up and get me my pills. I was very sure they
were going to kick in by the time I was at the whale’s house. He quickly handed the pills to me, I took
them, walking to the elevator. I arrived in Thalia’s room and quickly took a seat, breathing heavily as if I
had just run a marathon.
Thalia turned, surprised that I was in her room.
“Brandon you are supposed to be resting,” she said. Nestor walked in and seconded her, I looked away
and asked for water or anything watery. Thalia quickly handed me the milkshake which she was
having.
“Brandon you just did your session, you need to rest,”
I laid myself on the bed and crossed my eyes, “I’m going to give Josh a visit,” I replied and turned to
face her.
“Brandon, are you saying…?”
“Yes, in this world if you want to live a happy life you better make a woman happy but be warned that
should he refuse your request I’m stealing the dumb thing,” I said.
I watched as her face slowly curved into a smile, she quickly grabbed me and hugged me. “Thank you
so much, Brandon, I knew you would come through,” she said and gave me a huge kiss on my left
cheek.
I would have loved it if it was on my lips but soon we were getting there. I could feel it from how close
and tight she was holding me and her boobs had tremendously grown as she was lactating. I held on to
her tightly. “I promise you that this is a new start for us, no more hatred, all I want is a healthy
environment for the baby,” she said.
“ya ya ya, healthy environment for the baby,” I replied.
“No Brandon this is the change we need but first I think I should be the one to tell him everything,” she
said and tried to free herself but I held on tightly to her and looked directly into her eyes, she looked
away. I always loved it when she was a bit uncomfortable with our closeness or should I say shy and
not on my throat.
“Brandon?”
“Yes,” I replied.
“Can you please let go of me,” she requested.
“Ooh sorry I just never thought I would ever get a chance to hold you,” I said and
I let go of her. “Congratulations on the baby, I never congratulated you yesterday,” I mentioned.
“Thank you, congratulations to you too, it looks like the machine is working,” she replied. We both
laughed, probably at ourselves. Yesterday we were at each other’s throats but there we were
congratulating each other. We were both idiots.
“I think I should talk to Josh, he will likely listen to me,” she suggested.
“Of course I’m not confessing any s*it to that fool, I will leave that s*it to you,” I replied.
There was quietness in the room, she looked in Nestor’s direction hoping for answers but he nodded
his head.
“Then what are you going to talk about with him,” she asked.
“His options, I will not tell him about the baby or what we did to him, I’m just going to talk about what he
did to you,” I replied and lay on the bed again. I kept doing that in hopes of the painkillers kicking in.
They were taking long and looking at my watch I had thirty minutes kicked off my six minutes. “Just
trust me, Thalia,” I replied.
“You mean you are going to threaten him?” she asked.
“Mmmm, I just want to talk to him in a friendly manner,” I replied and closed my eyes.
The door opened and Maggie walked in with some sweet-smelling food. I quickly got up, grabbed the
bag, and began eating before greeting her. “How is Winfred?” I asked her.
She blushed a bit before replying. Old age love, it was not a slight I was looking forward to. By the time
I was done with breakfast, the painkillers were in circulation. I quickly kissed the two women goodbye
and ordered Nestor to lead the way. Thalia had an uncertain look on her face, she wanted to stop me
but she did not want to argue with me just like I did not want to. I had agreed to her plan and the least
she could do was trust me.
We got outside and Nestor started the car, he was as blank as Thalia, he kept asking what I was up to
but I told him to wait and watch. On our way, we picked up two of my most scary-looking security
guards and we went straight to Josh’s apartment. We were reliably informed he was home. I put myself
together and got out of the car, walking straight to the door and knocking.
