Alpha Rainer
Still Mercedes’ POV
When Zane notices that I am adamant, he resigns to my mission.
But I did have to promise to call him twice a day to tell him what progress I was making with my plans. He also promised not to tell Jace about this. If his Beta knows where Saphira is, he might rush in here on his own and things could not end well. I’ve asked Zane for up to five days to try and persuade her to at least talk to Jace about her doubts.
Fortunately, my mate was indulgent and agreed. Although something tells me he’s not entirely at ease with me traveling this far without him. I’m expecting him to show up anytime, Zane never takes risks when it comes to me. So I have to act quickly.
“Clarita, how about we sleep early and leave again early tomorrow morning? Maybe we can drive on and reach Shadow Moon in the evening”, I suggest to my friend. She looks at me strangely.
“We can do that, but then we will take turns. You’ll be too tired to drive non-stop all day,” she states. “Why do you want to be there so soon? Is it Zane?”All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
I nod. “He wasn’t really excited on the phone and wanted me to come back. But I want to do this for Jace”, I indicate passionately. “But I think he’ll come after us soon, he’s too worried about me,” I sigh. Not that I blame Zane. In his place,
I would go crazy just to think he was alone in another pack with so many sexy she-wolves around. I must act quickly and return home as soon as possible.
We opt for room service, eat a quick light meal and go to bed. The following day we are up early as agreed, have breakfast in the hotel restaurant and set off. This time I increase my speed, luckily it is still early and the road is almost deserted. As we drive through Human Town, I know we’re not far away from our destination. Clarita takes the wheel and only now am I sure it was a good idea to take her with me. A sanitary stop and some fast food at a Drive-thru and two hours later, we drive into the dirt road to the pack border of Shadow Moon.
“This pack is filthy rich, almost comparable to your mate’s, Mercedes. Their warriors are the best, they have never been defeated in a war,” Clarita declares. “In fact, no pack has challenged them in recent decades, no one dares. They are friendly until you threaten one of their members.” I nod with interest. “They’ve seen us coming since we drove into the dirt road. We can get an inspection anytime. Be prepared,” she warns me.
About two kilometers into the road, we stop in front of two massive metal gates. A warrior is waiting for us and beckons us to halt. When he stands at Clarita’s side, she lowers the car window.
“Ladies, may I know who you want to visit in the pack? Do you have an invitation?” the man asks kindly. Clarita gives away her best smile.
“We are here to visit our Alpha’s son and our friend. They are here for training and we were in the area so we thought we would come by and see them,” she says smoothly.
The warrior does some sniffles and his eyes light up.
“Silver Moon. Yes, the Alpha’s son is staying here for an extended period of time. But he did not report that he expects visitors,” the man explains with ease. “Is one of you his mate?”
Surprised Clarita and I look at each other, a trained warrior would know right away if we were mated. I guess the man in front of us is trying to buy time to do his business in the mind link.
And suddenly, we see a guy with long blond hair and blue eyes walking through the gate. He is tall, and muscular but not as big as bodybuilders. He is wearing a halterneck sweater and black ripped jeans. As he walks to our car, he quickly scans it with his eyes and comes to stand with the warrior. Immediately I feel his authority wash over me, he is probably the Alpha son Clarita was talking about.
“Clayton, do we have visitors? Who are these?” he asks the warrior. “Alpha, I haven’t heard their names yet, but they are here to visit their Alpha’s son. They are from Silver Moon,” the man replies. Now the Alpha is leaning toward us.
“So, you want to meet Glary. That’s no problem if he gives his permission. What are your names? By the way, I’m Rainer, the Alpha’s son.” When he moves his eyes from mine to Clarita, a look of recognition suddenly appears in his eyes.
“Hey, I met you once. Why don’t you get out so I know who you are?” Rainer takes a step back for Clarita to get out of the vehicle. When she stands before him, the man bursts out laughing before taking her into a tight hug.
“Hey, little one. You’ve grown so much since the last time I saw you,” he teases my friend in surprise. “Why didn’t you come here sooner? You know you are always welcome. Come, ride behind me to the packhouse”, he instructs her.
The large gates open and when I look ahead, I see a dark SUV. Clarita gets behind the wheel again, starts the car and drives slowly behind the man.
“Say for yourself, isn’t he a stunning Adonis? Take your time to speak to Glary and Saphira, I’ll make sure to have a lot of fun in the meantime,” proclaims the woman beside me. I roll my eyes.
“I don’t mind if you decide to stay behind. If I can get Saphira with me, you’re no use to me anymore”, I tell her dryly.
She laughs heartily and continues driving right behind the Alpha who had introduced himself as Rainer. And then we arrive at a colossal packhouse, it has five floors and the high pillars all end in a snarling wolf’s head. The richness of the pack is noticeable in everything. Shadow Moon reminds me a lot of Midnight Moon.
We park in the vast parking lot and get out.
The Alpha walks towards us and then his eyes fall on me. First, he stops in his steps, his eyes widening.
“Clarita, who is this gorgeous woman you brought with you? Will you introduce me to her?” he asks in a low voice. His interest in me radiates from his eyes, he makes no effort to hide it.
“No problem”, Clarita replies, a little disappointed. “This is Mercedes, the underage mate of Alpha Zane from Midnight Moon,” she replies with a clear warning in her undertone.
But it seems to pass the Alpha. I see his eyes move to my neck, he checks if I’m marked. And then he walks closer.
“Welcome to Shadow Moon, Mercedes. I hope you’re having a good time here. Consider my pack as your own,” he whispers to me, gazing deep into my eyes….
