Chapter 394 Unknown Street In An Unknown City
Chapter 394 Unknown Street In An Unknown City
There was an unknown city.
It was right at noon.
Rachel found herself at an unknown street.
She looked up at the dazzling sunlight and wondered where she was.
She got puzzled. She had no idea at all.
She only remembered that she was walking around coming from the Tulip Palace. Then, she saw a car
stop by the road and heard them discussing if they could share the car with Rachel going to an
unknown city. It sounded great for her. So, she got in the car with them.
She was utterly confused at that time. But she desperately wanted to go away. She hopped in the car
right away even though she had zero idea where the city was except that its name sounded great.
She thought, 'Besides, sharing a car with other people is not like riding a bus. I don't have to buy
tickets.' This was why she went in the car without any hesitation. Hence, she found herself sitting
comfortably in the car and just paid cash to the driver.
Also, she had brought her identification card with her. However, showing it to the ticket seller would
expose her. Thus, riding the bus was a big NO for her.
The city was too far away. Her journey in the car lasted for a day and a night before it finally reached
her destination.
Rachel felt too drained from the long trip. Her legs had gone stiff and tired. Therefore, she decided to
take a break at some sheltered place. Suddenly, she found a big tree by the street, sat on the ground
gasping for air and wiped off the sweat on her forehead.
She was rolling her sleeves up as she took a look at her watch to check the time. She left her phone at
home on purpose. Consequently, she randomly took a watch from her drawer for the convenience of
knowing the time.
It was twenty past eleven in the morning, the hottest moment of the day. She felt very weak after a long
walk under the sun.
"Marlon Xi! Listen carefully! If I catch you cheating on me with another woman one more time, our
engagement is off! And I'll withdraw our investment from your company! Be sure to keep this in your
mind! I don't want you to come crying to beg me!"
A woman, in a red Porsche, shouted. She kicked the man who opened the door so he could quickly
step out of her car.
Marlon also has a temper. He heavily banged the door behind him as he was quite frustrated about the
circumstance. Even though he was very bitter towards the woman, he chose to stay silent to make the
situation lighter.
Seeing his reaction, the woman stepped on the gas and drove her car away out of anger.
Regardless of how fancy he dressed and the footprint on his back, he sat on the road and quietly lit up
a cigarette.
Watching the Porsche driving away, Rachel averted her eyes on the man sitting not far away from her.
She laughed pessimistically. She remembered, she saw such a thing happen right before her eyes
when she was such a mess herself.
She thought that she wasn't the most unlucky person in this world after all.Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
"What are you laughing at? Who gave you the permission to laugh? You have no right to laugh!"
Marlon shouted at her blatantly and threw the cigarette he just lit up on the ground.
Rachel stopped smiling immediately and shut her mouth. She took the bottled water she just bought
and stood up. Briskly patting the dust off her clothes, she kept walking ahead.
She was wondering where she could find a 24-hour restaurant where she could spend the night.
Since she had left H City, she had decided not to go back anymore. There was no turning back for her.
The truth was that.
She had regretted the moment she stepped out their home. She did not want to be away from her
family.
She hated to part with Jonny, Joyce, especially, with Hiram!
Still, she had to. Gavin, her father-in-law, stooped down in front of her to ask her to leave. Even her
kind mother-in-law, Joanna, who would never ask her to do things like that, begged her to do this for
her. How could she pretend nothing happened?
Rachel had hoped that Gavin could calm down and get over the dispute between the Rong Family and
the Ruan. Unfortunately, he didn't.
Thus, she made her own decision to leave.
It suddenly came to her that she had no idea.
She had no idea at all, whether Hiram would be mad at her.
"Hello there! Ms. Ruan or Yuan? Rachel, you dropped your wallet here!"
Hardly before she made a few steps, Marlon shouted from behind. Rachel turned around and saw him
holding her wallet in his hands, digging through what was in it.
It was interesting that he did not know how to pronounce her family name.
"Thank you. But can you please return it to me?" Rachel asked. She remembered putting it into her
pocket instead of her purse after she paid for her water.
It had probably dropped out of her pocket when she abruptly stood up. She didn't notice it because her
mind was wandering off.
Eager to get it, she stretched out her hand for the wallet.
Marlon glanced at her and cracked a smile. Then he took half of the cash from her wallet right at her
face and said,"The finder wants to keep a half! Since I'm lucky to find your wallet, it's reasonable for me
to keep half with me, right?"
"What?" Rachel asked stunningly.
Taken aback, she tried to grab the cash from him. But, she suddenly pulled herself together and
said,"No! I actually appreciate that you found my wallet. Thank you! But aren't you shameful to take half
of it? Please give it back to me!"
"Shameful? Not at all! My name is Marlon Xi, and I'm a decent gentleman in this city. Listen, I was in a
rush this morning. I forgot to bring my wallet or any money with me. I'll return it to you if I'm able to get
home!" He responded seriously.
Then he took his phone out and continued,"Tell me your phone number. If you don't believe me, I can
transfer it to you now. Hmm, let me see how much I took. Wait a moment. I'll transfer to you right
away!"
"Hello there, I'm talking to you!" he waved his hand before Rachel's eyes.
Rachel came to her senses. She lowered her head and murmured,"I, I don't have a phone. This is all I
have. If you take it away, I don't know how I'll be able to live then."
Marlon was shocked. He looked at her from head to toe several times. It was as if he just heard the
most ridiculous joke in this world.
He patted her on the shoulders and said,"Look at you! Hmm, the latest Prada coat, the Armani purse
and the Rolex pink diamond watch, which is limited. Let me tell you, madam! The cheapest one on you
costs at least 30, 000 bucks. Yet, you're telling me that you don't have a phone. How can I believe
you?"
Rachel looked at herself while he said those words. However, she had no idea about what she was
wearing. All of them were bought by Hiram. All the clothes, bags, watches, pieces of jewelry and other
things she needed to wear regularly were just given by her husband.
She even had a whole cabinet of watches which she only wore occasionally at big events when she
had to attend as Hiram's wife.
She decided not to take her phone with her, and thus she took this watch for the sake of looking at the
time.
"Believe or not, it's up to you. I really don't have any phone with me. Now, please give my money back!
I can give a hundred to you. But, no more than that. Come on! Give it!" Rachel urged him. She merely
wanted to take her money back.
Nonetheless, Marlon still tricked her by raising the money in his hand up high and glanced at her
interestingly
"Ms. Ruan, I know that you do not lack money! Listen, if you're short of cash now, please take your
watch to the pawnshop. I believe that they'll give you at least 100, 000 bucks for it. Please lend this to
me, and I promise I'll return it as long as I'm available!"
Upon hearing his advice, Rachel glared at him and angrily said,"I don't care about your suggestion. I
never planned to go to the pawnshop. This is my watch and it's none of your business!"
"Right! You're so mysterious, ma'am! I guess you must have your own reason. But why can't you
determine good from bad? It's just a suggestion if you're in need. I'm just showing my concerns to you!"
Marlon explained while he tries to hold his laugh.
"Listen, how about you buy a phone from me? With the money in my hand?" he proposed.
Seeing him not giving up, Rachel rejected him coldly without thinking,"No, I told you that I don't need it!
Just give my money back!"
"Hold on, hold on! Please give it a thought before rejecting me. This is my backup phone and there is a
SIM card in it. You can make calls and don't have to buy yourself a new one. I believe this is a good
deal for you. Please consider it!" he said with a smile. But then, he got himself thinking differently.
This woman must be anything but simple, and maybe it would benefit him in the future.
Rachel hesitated for a moment. It was true that it was difficult for her to move without a phone such that
she might need a job.
The reason why she didn't bring her phone with her was that she knew Hiram would find her. It would
only take a phone call for him to know where she was.
Since she had left as Gavin asked, she felt the need to find ways to live on.
It was far far away from H City. She knew she had to make a living. Thus, she thought that she was
absolutely in need of a phone.
"Okay, deal! Give your phone to me!" she agreed.
