Silly Bride

Chapter 397

Chapter 397

The group returned after having had their fill of fun on the island for the next few days.

Meanwhile, Lisanne had made progress on her research.

She happily finished work and went straight to the hotel where Winnie and the others were staying.

Winnie was on the phone with Wilhelm on the suite’s bedroom balcony while Xavier was taking a shower. Therefore, nobody heard Lisanne when she knocked on the door.

However, it did attract Lucas’ attention, as he was staying next door.

Lucas opened the door and stared speechlessly at his sister, who had heavy dark circles under her eyes.

“Oh my gosh, have you gone crazy from all the experimenting? Why are you banging on the door in the middle of the night? Security’s going to come if you keep this up. Why didn’t you just ring the doorbell? Is that just a decoration for you?”

Lisanne replied, “Oh, right! I forgot about the doorbell as I was too excited. I must have lost my mind.” She then pressed the doorbell as she spoke.

Lucas felt a pang of heartache for her when he saw how worn out she was. “They told you it wasn’t urgent. Why did you work so hard? Your health matters too, you know? Just look at you. How many hours of sleep—”

However, Lucas was cut off before he could finish speaking.

“It doesn’t matter! What matters is that we finally made a breakthrough in our research! I can’t wait to tell Winnie about the good news!”

Just then, Winnie opened the door.

She immediately broke into a smile when she heard Lisanne’s and Lucas’ voices. “Come on in.”

“Okay.” Lisanne reached out and grabbed Winnie’s arm. “Winnie, I have good news.”

However, she was interrupted by Xavier before she could finish speaking.

“Winnie, who is it?’

Winnie quickly replied, “It’s Lisanne and Lucas. Lisanne says she has good news for me. You can take your time in the shower. We can handle ourselves.”

However, Xavier also wanted to hear the good news, so he hastily cleaned himself up, put on a shirt, and came out just in time to hear it. There was still some foam left on his hair when he emerged. NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.

“What element? What does that have to do with the Alpha radioactive gas?” Xavier asked Lisanne, as he had missed the beginning of the conversation.

Lisanne repeated herself as she knew Xavier was worried about Winnie’s illness.

“Our cells will mutate into cancer cells when we take in a large amount of Alpha radioactive gas. It’s incredibly difficult to find a cure for these cancerous cells since they are still unknown. However, my professor and I found another type of radioactive element in the lab in the past few days. We found that these radioactive elements can stop the Alpha radioactive elements from mutating our cells. In other words, this new radioactive element can cancel out the side effects of the Alpha radioactive elements on our body. We have a chance now! But it’s very hard to extract the element itself. My professor and I have used up most of it during our experiments in the lab, so now, we need to look for these elements. The more we have, the better.”

“Okay!” Xavier couldn’t help but break into a smile when he heard the wonderful news. “What is this element called? I’ll take care of it. I’ll find a way to bring you as much of it as you need.”

However, Lisanne’s excitement dimmed at his words.

“We haven’t named it yet. It’s a brand new element, a new discovery in the field of chemistry. The first step of locating it is already very difficult. We need to create a completely new element detector, and we need someone experienced to do it. It’s not as simple as you might think,” Lisanne explained.

“So what do we do now?” Xavier asked with a frown. “Does this mean we’re stuck?”

“Not necessarily,” Lisanne replied. “The professor still has some of the ore. According to him, a student of his brought it back from Alendor. He has contacted the student to ask exactly where in Alendor the ore was found, but we’re still waiting for a response. However, Alendor is rich in mineral resources, so finding what we need won’t be easy, and I don’t know how long it will take us. But at least we have a lead now.”

“Then we’ll search everywhere!” Xavier gave Winnie a determined look and spoke in a tone that left no room for argument. “I’ll get my hands on that ore, even if I have to use up all my fortune. I have some mining equipment over there. Perhaps the situation isn’t as dire as you think.”

“Okay. My family will also contribute.”

Winnie expressed her stance, “Count the Speisers in too.”

“Many hands make light work. As long as the ore exists, I believe we will find it. Moreover, I have decided to go there myself. All that’s left now is to wait for my professor’s student’s reply. The professor will also apply permission for this research project on behalf of Rodunst, but the procedures here are extremely complicated as it involves mineral resources from overseas. We don’t know when he will get his permit, so we’ll be on our own this time. Everything needs to be taken care of ourselves.”

Lisanne turned to Xavier. “I was worried we’d have to spend a lot of time on the procedures, but it’ll be easy since you already have assets there. I’ll leave the preparation work to you.”

“Don’t worry. I’ll get on it immediately.” With that, Xavier returned to his room and made a phone call.

Not wanting to be left out, Lucas chimed in, “Lisanne, I’ll work something out as well.”

“Go on!” Lisanne said in a chipper tone, her mood greatly improved.

Winnie smiled and praised Lisanne, “You’re awesome, Lisanne! From now on, you’re my idol. What a great scientist you have become!”

Lisanne chuckled. “I’m very happy too, Winnie. We’re saved! We’re saved! Let’s celebrate with a bottle of champagne.”

“Okay. What would you like? I’ll ask reception to send a bottle over.”

“I’d like—” Just then, Lisanne’s phone rang.

She got even more excited when she saw the caller ID. “It’s my professor. His student must have replied!”

With that, she answered the call, her eyes gleaming with excitement.
