Rift in the perfect picture

Chapter 445

As Nicholas wavered in the wind, I clenched the car door handle. I felt like my heart was about to leap out of my throat, and I could no longer bear it anymore. If this continued, he’d be in danger.

“Neal, I have to try. What if he wants to see me…”

The car door was locked before I could even finish my sentence.

“The rescue and negotiation experts are on their way. As long as Claudia can delay for five more minutes, even if Nicholas jumps, he won’t die!”

“But what if he can’t hold on? Neal, be professional. Don’t let personal feelings interfere with your work! This is a matter of life and death!” I said, my expression turning cold. “Open the door!”

Neal trembled slightly beside me, but his expression remained stoic. “I must ensure the safety of the public, including you! Look at the one o’clock and three o’clock directions, then look at the formation of the patrol team on the right side of the building.

“Do you still think this is a normal hospital? This could very well be a trap! Ariana, even if Nicholas jumps off the building, even if he dies before your eyes, even if you hate me for the rest of your life, I will not let you get out of the car right now!”

Tension hung thick in the air, and the officer driving felt restless

“Ms. Jones, you trust Captain Steele, right? He has solved countless cases over the years and has never failed in investigations. Danger lies right in front of you, but Captain Steele still lets you stay

“He’s doing his best to dispatch the respective teams. If it weren’t for Captain Steele, I might have turned around and retreated the moment I sensed something was off!”

“Shut up!” Neal snapped.

The young

officer was still mumbling something, but a ringing filled my ears, drowning out everything else.

Just then, Nicholas suddenly laughed. I couldn’t make out his features, but I could distinctly sense that he was laughing, and his chest was now vibrating with the sound

As I sighed in relief, I also realized that my worries might have been unnecessary. Perhaps Nicholas really just needed Claudia.

Nicholas was indeed laughing after hearing what Claudia said.

She couldn’t be bothered about me since our child is dead, huh?” he muttered to himself, laughing so freely for the first time in a long while

“She really did say that.”

Nicholas wasn’t surprised though. I had been harsher toward him back then, and he hated it.

“It’s better that she doesn’t come. She just had a miscarriage, and it’s too windy up here for her.”

If his death could make me a little happier and free me from the agony of losing a child, then why

wouldn’t he do it?Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

He had already obtained what be wanted in life–identity, status, wealth. Those easily attainable things

meant nothing to him.

But in the face of death, he came to believe in fate. He hoped that in his next life, he wouldn’t be abandoned or rejected by his family, that he could have both familial love and romantic love. He also wanted to experience the things that ordinary people had.

Nicholas inched forward, and Claudia immediately broke into cold sweat.

“Nick, have you forgotten the promise you made to me when we were kids? You said you would take care of me forever!”

Suddenly realizing that he truly entertained the thought of suicide and he wouldn’t just smile and put away his weapon with a little coaxing, Claudia was petrified.

He had only been gone for one night. Just what had he gone through that drove him into such despair?

Claudia’s resentment for me flared instantly.
