Chapter 1257
Seeing Harold standing there, looking like a stranger, Sophie's voice turned icy. "Did you have anything to do with Gordon's condition getting worse?"
"I don't have time to waste on you," Harold replied, turning his back on her. He addressed the bodyguards, "Escort Mrs. Costello out."
"Yes, sir."
The bodyguards started closing in on Sophie, and the murderous look in their eyes didn't escape her. Sensing something was off, she began to back away. Just then, she heard Jenna shout from behind, "Run!" Jenna rushed forward, grabbed Sophie's arm, and the two bolted down the stairs. Sandy, clueless but trusting her gut, realized she needed to run too.
"Get them!" Harold ordered, and a dozen bodyguards took off after them. In a flash of inspiration, Sandy stood her ground right in front of the guards, forcing them into a sudden halt, clearly thrown off by her boldness.
"I'm the daughter of the Pollard family from overseas! If you lay a hand on me, my dad will make sure you regret it!" Sandy declared, trying to sound as intimidating as possible.
Near the banquet hall's entrance, Sophie and Jenna nearly fainted when they heard her.
Is she serious right now? Who cares about the Pollard family at a time like this?
Predictably, the bodyguards moved to advance, but Harold, from the second floor, barked out, "Don't harm the Pollard family's heiress!"
Seeing Harold's hesitation, Sophie and Jenna exchanged hopeful glances.
It worked!
Sandy stood tall, but one of the bodyguards quickly shoved her aside and continued after Sophie and Jenna.
"Hey! You can't push me around!" Sandy yelled, fuming but powerless.Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.

"She's the Pollard family's heiress! If you hurt her, Caelum will come after you!" Sophie shouted.
"Yeah, come at us! Let's see if you live to see another day after messing with the Pollard family's daughter!" Jenna added, hiding behind Sandy.
For the first time, Sandy felt a surge of courage. She took a step forward, and the bodyguards stepped back.
Jenna whispered, "Ms. Sandy, it looks like your family's name really does carry weight."
"Of course! Sandy said, her confidence sky-high. "My dad dotes on me. If anything happens to me in Devonport, these guys won't
what hit them."
Seeing Sandy's smug look, Jenna couldn't help but tease, "Ms. Sandy, you really do shine with a little bit
of
praise. But seriously, pick up the pace! If they get more guys, can your tiny frame really protect me and Sophie?"
"Oh, right!" Sandy quickened her pace. Harold, however, didn't order them to continue the chase. Outside the Regent Hotel, Rick had the car running, ready to whisk them away as soon as they made it out.
As the standoff with the bodyguards spilled outside, Harold called out, "No need to chase them."
