Mentioning the topic, Sonia was filled with satisfaction. “The Barlow family has a solid foundation in Belchester. All our ancestors were extraordinary figures. Among so many peers, only Andy is like him.
“Never mind. Let’s go back for now. Regardless, it was us who requested the engagement with the Fisher family. We need to give them an explanation fo last night.”
Fred nodded. “Yes, Madam Sonia.”
The car left from outside the school gate.
In class, Mayra felt a twitch between her eyebrows.
In Everton Corporation, Shane rushed to the president’s office after receiving a message. Without stopping, he pushed open the door to the office. “Mr. Barlow, Madam Sonia…”
Upon seeing Isabel, who had somehow appeared in the office, Shane hesitated in his speech. He nodded in acknowledgment and greeted, “Ms. Fisher.”
Isabel stood behind Anderson, massaging his shoulders. She smiled slightly. It seems like Mr. Gorman has something to tell you. I’ll leave the room to you two.”
In his deep and charming voice, Anderson said, “You’re not an outsider. You can stay here.”
He glanced at the project proposal on the document. Noticing no issues, he signed it with his expensive black pen before closing the file. “What’s the matter?”
“It’s about Ms. Sadler. Madam Sonia went to her school and saw her, but Madam Sonia stayed in the car and didn’t engage in conversation with Ms. Sadler.”
Anderson remained silent at those words.
As Isabel removed her hand from Anderson’s shoulder, she explained, “Last
night, my dad called Grandma and mentioned your situation. I didn’t say anything about Mayra. I didn’t expect her to…
“I’m sorry, Andy. I didn’t expect things to turn out like this.” Her gentle eyes revealed panic and confusion. She clenched her fingers tightly, which turned her fingertips white from the force.
Anderson’s tone remained calm as he said, “This has nothing to do with you. They’ll eventually find out about Mayra. I didn’t want anyone to know because I didn’t want a young girl to become my weakness.”
Suddenly, he reached out and pulled the gentle woman beside him into his
arms.
Isabel seemed startled. She sat uneasily on his lap while pressing her palm against his warm chest. “Hey, there are other people here.”
Shane silently left the room. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
Anderson rarely, if ever, made such gestures. It was the Barlow family’s rule to restrain himself. To them, women were just tools for reproduction.
Emotions were never his necessity.
Whether it was Isabel or any other woman, they were all the same.
But women were needed to make mundane tasks more bearable.
Isabel hooked her arms around Anderson’s neck and asked softly, “What’s wrong with you today?”
Suddenly, Anderson reached out and caressed her back, forcing her body closer to him. He leaned down, landing his lips against the smooth skin of her neck.
This slight touch seemed to send a surge of electricity coursing through her body.
“Do you want it? I can give it to you.” Her voice was like a bewitching spell.
