Chapter 48
Leo
Alpha I co just stared at me blankly, unable to say anything.
"Tell me," I continued asking. "Why did you lie about needing a ma to attend this event?"
At that moment, the doorbell rang
Leo pointed to the door. "Someone is at the door."
I frowned at him in reply and after studying my face for a while to be sure that I was not too pissed, he walked to the door and opened it. The person at the door was Mitchell's mate
"Are you ready to go hunting?" He asked Leo and Leo looked back at me and then at him. "But we just finished our meet and
greet."
Mitchell's mate shrugged. The other Alphas agreed to go now. We have limited free time so we should use this free time wisely. We should go hunting now."
Alpha Leo looked back at me. "You should go. We will talk later
He looked hesitant, but stopping him from having fun as long as it did not hurt me was something I did not want to do. By the way, a few Lunas were planning to go hiking and I was invited. I did not plan on going, but I decided to do so now. "T have something to do with the other Lunas after all. It will be bad to stay here all alone. Go for your hunting"
Leo nodded and gave me a small smile before leaving.
After he left. I took my bath, changed my clothes into clothes suitable for hiking and left the villa to the location I was to meet the other Lunas.
"Luna Rita." One of the Lunas screamed, ran to me and then gave me a hug. It was Luna Jasmine, the Luna of Night Walker pack. She was one of the three she-wolves who cried out in pain yesterday. I wondered how she was doing now.
I hugged her back and my eyes darted around for one person.

We just met, but it felt like I had known her for an eternity. It was hard to imagine myself with the other Lunas without her.
But again, I had told her that I might not be here so she had no idea that I was here in the first place. They shared us into a group
of twos. The idea was for both Lunas to get to know each other well and my partner was Luna Jasmine.
The first few minutes of us hiking together was silent. She said nothing to me, which surprised me, because she really seemed like the chatty type. 1, on the other hand, found it very hard to start a conversation.
"How are you feeling now? Earlier today, your My voice trailed off. I wondered if I had gone too far. I should try to get to know her, I thought to myself. I was not supposed to remind her of how much of a cheat her mate was. This was why I liked. it when other people initiated a conversation with me. They always have the right things to say, but I always say the wrong things.
She shrugged in response to my question. "He is a wolf Wolves cheat. I just have to try and get used to the pain. Today was not the first time and it won't be the last."
"Get used to it? Does it not bother you that your mate is cheating
Syou'
Okay. Now, I was crossing the lines.
"Bother me? Whether or not my mate cheats should not be my business. My job is to give Alpha Joe pups and do anything to
make him happy with me, because when he is happy. I can be happy
"What about the pain? Whenever he cheats, you pass through a lot of pain. Does that not bother you?
"Like most other she-wolves, I will get used to the pain. I should be grateful to the moon goddess for giving me a mate that is rich enough to provide for me. Without Alpha Joe, I would have been nobody. The last thing I want to do is to let anything ruin our relationship. I looked ahead. "I don't think I can be with someone that cheats,
"What about Alpha Leo? Tons of she-wolves flock around him. he hasn't cheated on you yet, how are you sure he won't do so in the future?"
My heart squeezed in pain. I hated the idea of Leo cheating on the
"If you're scared of the pain, you shouldn't be. You'll get used to it."
"What about when the pain goes away. Don't you feel another lingering hurt?"
Jasmine halted and she looked at me. I stopped walking and looked at her. She batted her lashes repeatedly and then looked away. I have always grown up with the idea that werewolves will always cheat. The wolves in them might be faithful to their mates, but the man in them can never be, because it is natural for a man to cheat."
I shook my head in disagreement. "It isn't natural. It is a choice. Sadly, society contributes to this choice."
"True. Society does and that's why where I come from, a she-wolf can not afford to lose her mate no matter what. Where I come from, if a she-wolf is left by or leaves her mate, she will be labeled an outcast and that's why I will do anything to keep my mate
I looked at her, not knowing if I should admire her for how strong she was to hold on and respect a wolf that cheats on her or if I should pity her.
Of course, / pitied her. Nobody deserves to be in the state she was in. The state most she-wolves were in. The state that I was scared to be in.
"What would you do if Alpha Leo cheats on you?" She asked.
"I'll leave him." I was serious. I had low self esteem, lacked confidence and poise, but enduring someone who cheats because of what others will think if I left him was where I drew the line.
She had a sad smile on her face. "Well we are different. I can kill someone innocent to keep my mate."
I cocked an eyebrow.
Something felt wrong. I looked around and then it dawned on me that we had gone too deep into the woods.
Jasmine took a few steps backward and before I could say Jack Robinson, ten uniformed wolves surrounded me. From the Eblem on their uniform, I could tell that they were all warriors of the Night Walkers pack.
"Seize her." Jasmine yelled and they closed in on me.
The whole time, she had planned a trap for me.
