Chapter 79
However, the force in her hand was not light. When he tried to pull his hand away, she held on even tighter. Helpless, he could only lay down next to her. Her breathing gradually became calm, and she leaned against him like a small dog seeking warmth, rubbing against his shoulder.
The shoulder that had been bitten before was still slightly painful. Since he had bitten her last time and she had bitten him back this time, they were considered even. However, both times were in a somewhat unconscious state, so he needed to find a time to take her to see a psychologist.
He turned on the bedside lamp and adjusted it to the lowest light. Nydia was only wearing a slip dress, and her skin looked flawless under the warm yellow light. Jesse’s gaze fell on the position near her neck and collarbone, where the tooth marks were almost invisible, but he could feel the unevenness when he lightly rubbed his finger over it.
His finger movements made her feel itchy, so she turned over and snuggled into Jesse’s arms, locking her whole body in his embrace. Her cheek was pressed against his chest, and her right hand held onto his waistband, while her left hand continued to hold onto his hand, seemingly to give her a sense of security.
Jesse originally thought that he wouldn’t be able to fall asleep in this position, but gradually, his eyelids became heavier and heavier.
In the middle of the night, the person in his arms coughed twice and moved her body. Nydia, still half asleep, reached out to the bedside table to grab a glass of water, but instead touched Jesse’s face. He took her hand away and passed her the glass of water from the bedside table. “Drink some water,” he said in a hoarse voice from just waking up.
After taking a sip of water, her throat felt better, so she continued to drink a few more sips. After drinking these sips of water, not only did her throat feel better, but her mind also became clearer. She looked at the glass of water, then at Jesse, and froze.
“Jesse, why are you here?”
Upon hearing these words, Jesse knew that Nydia had regained consciousness.
“Think about it yourself,” his voice was no longer as gentle as before.NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
Nydia immediately recalled what had happened earlier. The rain seemed to have subsided a bit and the sound had turned into a pattering. She remembered falling asleep and then having a dream. As she thought of the scene in her dream, her body involuntarily shuddered. She instinctively touched her face to make sure everything was normal before feeling reassured.
Despite being reborn for so long, she still worried that it was all just a dream.
Jesse noticed her movements and thought of her earlier complaint of aching cheeks. He looked thoughtful.
“I had a nightmare earlier. The dream was too real and I couldn’t tell what was reality and what was the dream. Did I… lose control?” Her memories were a bit confused, and she still couldn’t distinguish what had actually happened from what had occurred in her dream.
“Well, you grabbed my hand and wouldn’t let me leave,” Jesse spoke, his tone and meaning unclear. It wasn’t disapproving, nor was it happy.
Nydia looked at him under the bedside lamp. His features were dark, and his face was expressionless. His tall, straight nose cast a profile shadow. Even though he wasn’t gentle, he was still coated with a layer of warmth in this kind of light.
“Oh, then let’s continue sleeping,” Nydia’s words surprised Jesse.
But he coldly refused.
“You sleep. I’ll go back to my room.”
As he spoke, Nydia immediately rushed forward and grabbed his arm. “Don’t go, I’ll be scared if you leave.”
Her warm breath was sprinkled on his neck as her body pressed against his arm. The pores on his neck instantly opened, but Nydia didn’t notice anything due to the dim light.
If she was truly scared earlier, then she was just pretending now. Jesse was very aware of this.
His body was stiff, and his jaw was tight. The soft body rubbing against him was definitely igniting a spark.
“Will you stay with me?” Her voice was pleading with a hint of coquettishness, even the toughest of men couldn’t resist such warm and sweet words.
He suddenly turned his head and pinched her chin, taunting her, “You should know what I’ll do if I stay. Do you still want me to stay?”
