Chapter 7
March arrived. The trees on the street started sprouting green leaves once more.
The plants around the mansion were thriving. Spring was all around.
Naomi quit her job. She ended work the day before. All she needed to do was wall for Scott to return to sign the papers. Then, they would head to the county clerk’s office to end this three–year– long marriage.
Just the day before, Naomi received a call from Jay saying that Scott would be returning the following morning.
Scott was on a business trip for two weeks, but Naomi was used to it. Sometimes, he would even go for a month or two.
She already sent him the divorce papers via email. He should have seen it. She also prepared the physical copies of the divorce papers and signed them too. All that remained was his signature.
She prepared everything perfectly.
“Ma’am, Mr. Lawson arrived at the airport. He should reach home in an hour.” Jay called Naomi while she was watering the plants. She could hear the airport noises in the background.
“Okay.” She hung up. She continued watering the plants before trimming them. Then, she loosened the soil and fertilized them. Every step she took was methodical and meticulous.
After doing all that, she returned the tools to where they were before heading upstairs to take her luggage down.
She already packed everything the day before. When Scott returned and signed the papers, once they were officially divorced she would head to the airport to go home.
The car parked right in front of the gate.
It was ten in the morning. Sharp.
Naomi heard the noise coming from the gates and looked over. She said to the person on the phone, He’s back. We’ll talk later.”
“He’s back? Scott Lawson’s finally back? Go, quickly. The county clerk’s office isn’t closed yet. Go and quickly get a divorce so you can find another guy right away!”
It was no one other than Amelia. Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
In the last two weeks, Amelia selected dozens of candidates for Naomi to pick to go on dates so that she could jump right into another relationship.
Naomi said helplessly, “Alright, we’ll talk later.”
She hung up to see Scott coming out of the car.
The spring sun cast a healthy glow on all the plants around the mansion. Scott also had a glow on hin when he got out of the car. He was in a white shirt and black pants. His jacket was on his arm. He stood up straight and tall.
A breeze blew across his face, making him seem less distant and aloof than usual.
Naomi smiled a little. She did not go up to him as usual, instead, she stood there waiting for him to walk over to her.
That was the first time that she waited for him, instead of the other way around.
Scott stopped in his tracks to look at her. She stood in the living area in a plain–colored jumper and a long light–blue skirt. Her long hair cascaded down her shoulders behind her ears.
The decor of the living room was the same for the past three years. Behind her near the staircase was a vase filled with flowers that were blooming fully in spring.
Naomi looked at Scott and smiled at him tenderly.
