Pampered by Billionaires after Being Betrayed

Chapter 84

Chapter 84 I'm Not Your Husband

He sneered, squinting at her.

Sophia covered her mouth and nose, feeling a bit awkward. "What are you looking at? Did I say something wrong?"

"That dress doesn't suit you," Nathan said indifferently. "Emily's beauty isn't something you can imitate. You don't look good in a white dress."

Sophia felt exposed in her little scheme and grew irritated. "Nathan, my parents are coming today, and I don't want to argue with you anymore. I like this dress, and I'm going to wear it to meet my family." Nathan shrugged indifferently. "Do as you please."

Then Nathan walked past her directly into the living room, sitting on the sofa and watching the morning news.Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

Suppressing her inner dissatisfaction, Sophia walked over to him and said, "Nathan, my parents are coming for the first time today. Let's go greet them at the door together."

Without lifting his head, Nathan replied, "I'm not going. I want to watch the news."

"You're my husband and the father of my child. You won't even greet my parents?" Sophia pressed.

Finally tearing his gaze away from the TV, Nathan looked at her with cold, sharp eyes. "I'm not your husband."

Sophia sneered, "My parents are about to arrive, and you're still thinking about maintaining a relationship with Emily? Nathan, my father came to work at your company for my sake. If we don't get married, he can go to any other company." Carol hurriedly intervened, pulling Sophia aside. "Be careful, dear. Don't get angry."

"And you, Carol," Sophia glared at her. "When I was lying alone in the hospital needing a blood transfusion, where were you? Why didn't you find a way to get me the blood? You want an heir, don't you? Emily can't have children, only I can. How have you treated me?" "Shut up!" Nathan slammed the remote control down forcefully, shattering it instantly. Pointing at Sophia, he said, "Yes, Reed Group relies on your father, but if you dare to talk to my mother like that, get out of here right now!"

Sophia's eyes welled up with tears instantly, too scared to speak.

At that moment, the doorbell rang.

Ding ding, ding ding-

"Oh, they must be here. I'll go open the door!" Carol shoved a few tissues into Sophia's hand, whispering, "Quick, wipe away your tears. Don't let your parents see you upset. And Nathan, don't lose your temper."

Sophia waited for Nathan to come and support her, but he stood still. She gritted her teeth in hatred, turning away as tears streamed down her face.

The door swung open, and Carol greeted Logan Morgan and Grace with a beaming smile. "You must be Sophia's parents. Please come in."

Grace smiled and exchanged pleasantries with Carol. "Thanks for taking care of my daughter."

"We're all family."

Just as she finished speaking, she noticed that the flowers in the courtyard were all ruined, petals strewn everywhere.

Carol froze. "What happened to my flowers?"

Herry suddenly jumped out from behind Grace. "Wow!"

Carol was startled, stepping back repeatedly, clutching her chest. "Oh my God, you scared me..."

"Sorry, my son is too naughty. We'll compensate you for all these flowers in the yard," Logan Morgan said, his mouth saying sorry but his face showing no hint of apology, wearing a completely self-righteous expression.

Carol could only pretend not to mind. "It's alright, it's just some flowers. As long as he's happy... No need for compensation."

"How can that be?" Grace smiled. "I just checked, and a single rose seed costs $3. I'll compensate you with $300."

These roses took her several years to cultivate. Now they were all destroyed. It would take at least 3 years to grow them back to blooming. $300? They were so arrogant! Though she was furious, Carol still politely ushered Logan Morgan and Grace into the house.

Grace smiled, with a hidden

meaning in her words. "Carol, when flowers are damaged, compensation is necessary. But if something were to happen to a person, I would surely hold someone accountable. Do you understand what I mean?"

She was referring to Sophia's near-death experience in the hospital.

Carol couldn't miss the implication, but she could only chuckle nervously. "You're joking, right? Everyone in our family is fine and nothing will happen."

"Both of us are women, and we've

experienced the hardships of childbirth. We should be able to empathize with expectant mothers. My daughter is giving your family an heir with her own life. I can't just watch her being mistreated every day. What do you say?"

Carol chuckled awkwardly.

"Mom," Sophia called out, hurrying over to hold Grace's hand. "You're finally back."

Grace embraced her, gently asking, "Stop crying. It breaks my heart. If you're being mistreated, just tell me, and your dad. We'll help you." Sophia glanced at Logan Morgan. It was her first time meeting this stepfather; she had only heard Grace occasionally mention him over the phone.

He was tall and imposing, but what caught her eye was that he was dressed in designer labels from head to toe, even his watch was worth millions- He was far richer than her previous father!
