Mummy, Daddy is on his knees

Chapter 80_ Star gazing

Aldrin turned around to stare at the two ladies standing in front of him, he turned to Alexa with an arched brow, truly something weird has been going on with her lately..

He hasn’t received debit alerts from her numerous shopping recently..

Alexa scowled inwardly, sure enough her mum was successful in putting those thoughts into her dad’s head, because he was staring intently at her seeking explanations..

“Come on dad.. this is urgent please” she pleaded with a pout, one she knew her dad couldn’t resist..

“Honey.. we need to make sure you aren’t short of money.. that can’t be possible right? a large sum which could last you an entire year was deposited in there as your birthday gift..”

Alexa’s face fell, she threw her head back with a sigh, maybe it was time she put her ego aside and beg Damien once more like she meant it..

“Okay.. your point?”

Anita gasped softly “I told you we couldn’t trust her with that amount! when next we’re giving you a card, there’ll be a monthly limit.. that way you won’t spend so recklessly”

Great! even worse punishment just because she wasn’t Damien..

“Do you have to do this every time mum? Dad never interferes whenever you’re making choices with Damien..”

“What are you instigating? that i love Damien more?… are you trying to blackmail me emotionally?”

Aldrin stepped in before this little quarrel escalates into something worse, it was true that the two never go with each other’s words because they have different opinions..

“Alright… calm down you both, Alexa your mum isn’t wrong you know?.. we have to make sure you’re not –

“Into drugs?” she inquired cutting off his sentence midway..

“I didn’t mean that-

Alexa took a step back “It’s fine.. after all she’s your beloved wife and I’m just an obstacle stopping you both from having your alone time..”

Aldrin frowned, he held his hand out to her but she turned around and left the room..

“This is all your fault”

Anita pointed to herself in bewilderment, how was this any of her fault? she was just looking out for their daughter and the latter took it as dislike..

Heaven’s knew how much she had hoped for a strong bond with Alexa just like she had with Damien and Aldrin..

But Alexa never gave a chance, she clearly chose her friend over her mum’s attention..

“My fault? well.. well.. guess who’s sleeping alone tonight!” She snarled at him before making her way into the shower room..

Aldrin’s eyes went wide “I really didn’t mean it that way honey…”

He trailed behind her only for the door to be slammed on his face..

In a dimly lit room, a lone figure stared out of the window gazing at the stars twinkling across the sky..

Her blonde hair swayed as the gentle night breeze caressed it..

She was lost in her thoughts to notice and hear the sound of the door opening and closing behind her..

And just as Bianca had predicted, Olivia was still awake star gazing, this was a habit she had whenever she was troubled or need sometime to think clearly..

Bianca walked slowly to her and draped one of her hand over the latter’s shoulder..

“Everything will be alright.. trust me” she reassured squeezing Olivia’s arm gently..

Olivia exhaled loudly not the least surprised to see Bianca in her room..

“Do you also think getting into a relationship with Damien would solve everything?” she asked calmly leaving Bianca surprised and even speechless too..

Perhaps she wasn’t expecting the question because she was left in a daze for a minute trying to digest Olivia’s question..

She chuckled lightly, was Olivia expecting her to say no to this question? yeah right..

“You know my answer will always be a yes, but this also needs your deep consideration too.. we all know how Kelvin is hoping for his parents to be together right?”

“Kelvin is just a kid –

Bianca placed a finger to Olivia’s lips hushing her from making that mistake..

“Shh.. that’s where the problem sets in.. as a kid he needs both of his parents love, care and attention.. I don’t want him to end up like you and I who never got a father’s love.. even if we did, we can’t certainly remember the faint memory”

Olivia fell into a deep thought once more, Bianca really did have a point there..

“Mum and Nathan haven’t progressed in their relationship yet even though they love each other.. they still gave me the right to decide their relationship for them” she chuckled sardonically pulling Olivia’s attention..

“Come here”

She suddenly engulfed Bianca into a tight embrace..

Olivia’s phone rang out breaking off the emotional scene, she pulled away from Bianca and took out her phone..

She stared at the screen contemplating whether to accept it or decline..

“Take it”

She gave a nod to Bianca and brought the phone to her ear..Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.

“Hi…”

Her brows furrowed confusedly “Like right now?” she asked..

“Is everything alright?”

Olivia shrugged “He said he’s right outside..”

Bianca cleared her throat teasingly, he placed both of her hands against Olivia’s shoulder turning her around to face the door’s direction..

“You know what they say? it’s not right to leave a prince charming waiting on your porch.. so go on, find out what he wants..”

Few minutes later…

Olivia closed the door gently behind her and sure enough, he was leaning on his car looking all dazzling under the bright moon..

She made her way to him carefully to avoid tripping on any invisible stone laying around..

Damien flashed a smile at her when she stood before him, she obviously had a lot of questions to ask..

“What are you doing here at this hour? and where are your bodyguards?”

Damien straightened up and opened the car’s door for her to hop in..

“I believe we have a lot to talk about in private so it’s not appropriate for them to be around.. but don’t worry we’re in good hands”

Olivia crossed her arm beneath her bossom with a narrowed gaze at him..

“It’s you who I don’t trust.. I feel more safe if they are around” She snorted before stepping into the car..

“Seriously? don’t you get tired of trying to pick a fight with me?” He closed the door gently without giving her a chance to talk back..

Olivia stared around the empty diner, she sat across from Damien in a cozy spot nestled next to the long glass windows that offered a calming view of the surrounding streetscape.

The soft glow of the diner’s lighting casted a warm ambiance illuminating their faces as they tried hard to strike up a proper conversation..

The windows beside them stretched from the floor to the ceiling, providing an unobstructed view of the night outside.

“So… you called me out at this time just to have steak and red wine with me?”

Damien chuckled lightly, he dropped down his cutlery which made a soft clash..

“Not really.. I figured out we need to talk, about everything that’s going on recently and even before that”

Olivia picked up her glass of red wine and took a sip out of it..

She placed the glass back down and peered intently at him..

“Okay?..”

Damien clenched and unclenched his fist as he tried hard to force words out of his mouth, just who the heck was this lady who was making him feel nervous even without saying or doing anything?

“About that night seven years ago… I really didn’t mean to do that.. because I was under the effect of a drug at that time to-

He paused his sentence midway when he noticed the change in her expression..

“Look I’m sorry if I triggered a sensitive spot.. but i-

Olivia pulled her gaze off him to her phone that beeped on the table..

It was a text from Bianca which was “I’m sure he’s about to talk about the past.. hear him out before you draw conclusions.. enjoy your night (Love emoji)”

She frowned looking around the diner for any possible trace of her..

How come she knows everything??

“Go on..” she murmured inaudibly..

“I’m sorry my guards brought you against your wish that night.. I never knew any of that would happen.. I tried so hard to reach you but I couldn’t find your name in any of the hospital records”

“I did the same too.. I couldn’t find you either because you used a different name to-

Damien’s hand reached out to hers on the table that was clenched into a fist, he took notice of her breaking voice as she spoke..

“I’m very sorry for what I caused you over the years.. I’m sure you must have hated me so much and cursed me at each chance you got.. but that’s why I’m here to correct all of my mistakes”

He inserted one of his hand into his pocket and pulled out a blue velvet box sliding it across the table to her..

Olivia’s eyes fell on the little box which contained a glittering ornament..

“Let’s right this wrong together..”
