Chapter 35: You’ve Been Promoted
Chapter 35: You’ve Been Promoted
When Spencer picked up the VIP card, Phoebe’s phone rang. She only said “okay” to the one called
her before hanging up.
“My daughter won’t show up for some reason, but she’ll transfer her money to me. I’ll pay by debit card,
please.”
She took out her debit card from her bag again and handed it to the assistants. With a smug face, she Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.
snorted at Spencer.
But the assistants didn’t take over their cards, not saying a word.
People around all finger-pointed her.
“First come, first served. How could you be so shameless that you could grab it away? Worse, don’t
you think you’re too old to use pink stuff?”
Phoebe swiveled her head and said through gritted teeth, “I buy it for my girl.”
“You can choose other phones. Why do you have to fight with a girl?”
“None of your business.”
Phoebe was exasperated, but the thoughts of getting the phone and making Spencer disappointed
could light up her day.
Spencer looked at the woman who stood up for her, finding she was a woman as old as Phoebe, and
she looked nice and easy-going.
Spencer stopped her speaking, “Mrs, thank you for stand up for me, but I can handle this. Trust me.”
The kind woman stopped arguing with Phoebe as she heard what Spencer said.
“I’ll pay by debit card, please.”
Ignoring Phoebe, Spencer handed her VIP card to the assistants.
The assistants took over her card but refused Phoebe’s card. Phoebe unhappily taunted, “Are you
insane? The phone is worth twenty-five thousand bucks, little beggar.”
She knew Spencer was penniless as they didn’t give her a dollar.
She was sure that there was no money in Spencer’s card.
The assistant who took over Spencer’s card retorted, “This young lady was covered by fancy brands.
Her sneakers are of limited edition. There’re only ten pairs in the whole nation. Believe it or not, our
mall has one worth thirty thousand dollars, way more expensive than the pink cellphone.”
Then people around started to shift their attention to Spencer’s clothes.
Customers of Wonfo Mall were definitely familiar with all the luxury brands.
They thought she was an ordinary university student, but now they found she must be some
billionaire’s daughter.
Phoebe fired back, “Her clothes and shoes must be knockoffs.”
The assistant ignored her unreasonable words, walking past her toward the cashier desk.
Phoebe didn’t want her to walk away, threatening the assistant, “If you don’t let me take the phone
away, I’ll complain about you to the manager.”
The assistant was dumbfounded and looked at Phoebe.
Phoebe thought the assistant was scared, she put on her smug mask and raised her eyebrow at
Spencer, but her smile was frozen on the next second.
Because the assistant ignored her threat and walked away.
Phoebe clenched her fists. She was so exasperated that her face was distorted. Suddenly, the
assistant said, “Hello, manager.”
Phoebe hastily stepped toward the manager and the assistant.
She pointed at the assistant and complained, “Sir, I didn’t think she should be an assistant.”
The assistant was scared. Almost all the assistants of Wonfo would be fired, if they got a complaint
from their customers.
She had been worked there for about six years. And she would end up like this?
Spencer was also nervous as she didn’t want any assistants to be fired because of her bad. Then she
saw the manager nod. “No, she’s not.”
Which got Spencer more nervous and guilty as she might have got an innocent assistant fired.
The assistant bit her lips and looked down bitterly, not knowing how to explain for herself.
Manager’s affirmation made Spencer smug again, but the manager’s following words ruined all her
happiness.
“Never will you be a shop assistant, because you’re promoted. Congratulations! You’re our new deputy
manager.”
