Jojo and Coco's Unexpected Love

Chapter 835 Sir, the Footage Is Corrupted

Chapter 835 Sir, the Footage Is Corrupted

It was now July, and the temperature in Docwood during nighttime was around 37 degrees. The air outside was hot and stuffy, but the inside of the car was about 20 degrees. The driver drove with a steady hand, so it was no different from being at home. But over the usually one-hour car ride, Desmond repeatedly urged the driver to hurry up. The driver became quite anxious and sweated profusely.

Forty minutes later, as Desmond stepped out of the car, he spotted Chloe and Noah standing side by side at the entrance to welcome him home. This scene looked normal.

Desmond's tense face eased a little. He supported himself with an expensive-looking walking stick and walked over to them.

"Did you enjoy your trip, Grandpa? When I saw the photos you posted on your social media, I felt like taking a break from the company and taking Coco on a trip,” Noah asked as he went forward, smiling happily.

"It was all right.” Desmond then pivoted and asked, "Are you and Coco ready? The wedding will be in three days. Don't ruin it and embarrass me."

"Everything’s ready. We're just waiting for the day to arrive. The invites have been sent and the venue is ready."

Desmond nodded before looking toward Chloe. “What about you, Coco? Have you sorted out your feelings?"

Chloe bit her lip and looked down. "Yes, I have."

"Why do you seem upset?”

"I..." After a brief hesitation, she replied, "My head kind of hurts, and I don't know why."

"Did you not go see a doctor?"

"No, but I did sleep the whole afternoon."

Desmond touched her forehead tenderly and asked Noah, "Why didn't you take Coco to the hospital?"

Noah put on a gentle expression. "Not right now. I'll do it tomorrow."

"Other than the headache, I'm fine, Grandpa. It’s already subsided."

For some reason, Chloe did not want to be in the same space with Noah alone, feeling an inexplicable sense of oppression.

"You have to go to the hospital if you're sick. Do you understand?" Desmond advised solemnly.

"Mm-hm, I understand. Come, let’s eat." Chloe changed the topic and took Desmond’s arm to head to the dining room.

After dinner, the majordomo came to Desmond's room and reported hesitantly, "Sir, the footage is corrupted."

Desmond looked up and shot the majordomo with a sharp glare, looking quite menacing. "What do you mean? Why didn't you tell me that when I called you?"

"I didn't notice it at the time..."

"Now that’s a coincidence. George, I may be old but not muddle-headed yet."

Desmond then smashed his teacup on the floor and it broke into pieces. The scalding tea spilled on the back of George Stevens' hand. George’s heart skipped a beat upon being burned and a shiver ran down his spine.

"Mr. Desmond, I..."

He was not trying to keep things a secret, but these were Noah's orders. If he said anything, he would offend both Noah and Desmond.

Desmond glanced at George coldly and narrowed his eyes. Despite not having smoked in a long time, he took out a cigar from a drawer. "You've been working here for more than ten years, correct? You're old now. Pack up and retire."

"Sir, no, please. I'm only in my fifties. I can work for a few more years." This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.

He earned 100 thousand dollars a year working here by just handling the helpers every day. He would not find such a job anywhere else.

Desmond knocked the table calmly.

George gritted his teeth. "Sir, it was Mr. Noah who ordered me to say this... It has nothing to do with me."

When Desmond recalled the contents of Joseph’s letter, his eyes turned dark. He ridiculed George, "Are you guys conspiring with each other to keep things from me just because I'm old?”
