Tragic fate of her son(2)
Jenica pressed a finger on the side of her forehead. Her head hurts thinking of those people whom she should guard Sham against from. If only she wasn’t desperate now, she wouldn’t have gotten Carol into trouble. But what could she do?
She reached for an envelope inside the bag and handed it to Carol after the woman ended her call. “Here, please help me find this boy in the picture. The picture was taken in the capital’s outskirt.”
Carol immediately accepted the envelope and opened it. She stared at the picture for a few seconds then raised her eyebrows. “Who is this boy?”
“You don’t notice anything?” she asked and looked at the picture. She removed the figure of Alex and Gia from the picture so only a dirty boy wearing torn clothes could be seen there.
“Why? Is there something I need to see?” Carol asked.
“You don’t think he resembles Sham?”
“Huh?” Carol brought the picture closer to her face. “He doesn’t look like Sham.”
“It’s because he’s still dirty. But imagine him dressing neatly, he looks like Sham!”
Carol shook her head. “Nah, I don’t think so. Why are you looking for this boy? Don’t tell me you want to adopt this boy in place of my precious godson? Jenica, I won’t let you neglect my godson for the sake of a stranger!”
Jenica pursed her lips. “Remember the stillborn twin of Sham?” She swallowed and frowned, worry was evident in her eyes. “He might be the stillborn twin of my son.”
Carol was quiet for a few seconds, but later she hastily looked at her way. “Jenica!” she called out, aggitated, when she realized what Jenica was saying. “If that’s true…” Her eyes widened and her lips parted.
Jenica nodded. “So please find him.”
Carol took a deep breath and nodded as well. “I will.” She looked at the taxi driver and asked him to pull the car over. “I’ll text you later after I find that child,” Carol promised before she hurriedly got out of the taxi and took another taxi back to the capital.
Jenica looked at the rearview mirror and saw the departing taxi that her friend was riding in and sighed. After that, she got off at a mall and entered a dressing room. There she changed her clothes and put on a disguise before going out and taking a taxi to Laguna.
She closed her eyes tightly as she remembered how she gave birth to Sham five years ago.
…
It was raining that night and he was outside the apartment house. The landlady evicted her because she hadn’t paid the rent. The muddy road was difficult to traverse to for a heavily pregnant woman like Jenica.
She has been moving from place to place for four months just to escape Alex. But no matter where she hide, it was as if there were eyes following her because after a few weeks of moving into a place, her pursuer would find her eventually.
Raindrops fell on her face when she raised her head onto the dark sky.
This should be the seventh apartment she had stayed in and she’s getting tired. But knowing that someone from Alex’s clan secretly threatened her if she come back to her husband, Jenica pressed her lips together and tried her best to walk forward.
For her son’s sake, she must run away from her husband!
“Ah,” Jenica moaned softly and grabbed the pole when her stomach ached.
When she looked down, she noticed blood running down her legs. Her heart skipped a beat and her face paled. It looked like she would birth that night.
The wind gusted stronger and the downpour got heavier. Jenica shivered but she endured the cold to stand by the side of the road.
She’s afraid but she still prepared herself when a car pulled up near her. Her pale fade paled even more when she thought it was one of Alex’s men, but she heard a familiar voice under the rain.
“Jen!”
It was Shimen.
Jenica’s eyes lit with hope and was about to stand up when she felt a pang in her stomach and she weakly groaned, trembling in pain. Shimen seemed to have noticed her condition because he ran hastily into her direction and held her.
“Don’t worry. I’m here… breathe, Jen… breathe,” Shimen said, worried, and took off his coat to put it onto the ground. He helped her lowered herself and position her in a comfortable manner.
“Jen, I know it’s hard but you need to calm down. You can do it,” Shimen encouraged after taking her pulse.
Since he’s a doctor, Jenica put her trust onto him and did what he asked of her.
She labored for a few minutes before the first child of the twins came out, but she did not hear the baby’s cry. When she looked at Shimen, the man shook his head to tell her the first baby didn’t survive.
Jenica weakly shed a tear.
“Jen, you need to gather strength for the next one –”
Before Shimen could finish his words, they heard engines fast approaching their location. Shimen looked deeply at her and without hesitation, he lifted her onto his arms and put her on the passenger seat of his car.
“Shin… the child,” she cried and looked at the little baby left on the side of the road. She wanted to pick the dead baby up but she had no strength to even lift a finger.
“I’m sorry. We need to go, Jen. Your pursuers are here,” Shimen said before driving the car away from that place.
Jenica gritted her teeth as tears streamed down her face. She endured her heartache as she felt another contraction on her stomach.
Shimen took her to his house where she gave birth to Shamrock. And a few days later, she flew to another country along with her son with the help of Shimen and his mother.

And even after five years, she still hasn’t forgotten the pitiful stillborn on the side of the road that she heartlessly abandoned.
A tear fell from the corner of her eyes which she quickly wiped away. If her hunch’s correct, then Jenica didn’t know if she still have the face to appear in front of her abandoned son.
