Her Savior

Chapter 32 Work Hazzard

“Hey, have you found my phone? I really need to call Blair.”

Ian slowly got up, it has been a couple of days since he had been couped up in his house. He had cursed himself for not memorizing her number and stupidly not writing it down in case anything happened.

He was still on bed rest and Garcia was kind enough to take care of him and take matters into her own hand. He was out most of the time from the pain meds. But when he was not, he kept asking her if they had found his phone.

Garcia was taking a wild leap and tried to have him back. She felt that they had some chemistry in the past, and she knows she was much better than the husband killer. She still didn’t know why he was attracted to her. But she hates that he seemed to like the woman better than her.

“I’m still asking around, but you know how these things happened. You probably forget where you put it since you’re carrying two phones with you.”

He was not convinced with her explanation, he always put his personal phone in his office drawer, and took his business phone whenever he was on duty, but she should be able to find his phone easily. Yet he brushes it off and lets it slide. There was something off about her, but his pain meds would make him sleepy then it was hours past his initial time that he’d like to call Blair.

He kept on racking his brains trying to find out a way to contact Blair until he remembered about Luka. He cursed when he reminds himself that he didn’t have his number, up until he remembered about his email address that he can log in via his laptop.

He sighed and finally relax as he had found a way to contact Blair, but his eyes were so heavy and he finally drifted off to sleep until he woke up to his mother by his side.

“Ian? honey… why didn’t you tell me that you got hurt on duty? and who’s the woman saying that she’s your partner from work, and where’s Blair?”

“Water…” he smiled at her mother and seated himself on the headboard. He was feeling extremely parched and was glad to see his mother and she gladly help him with a glass of water.

“Is she still here?” he asked, knowing she had probably left for work already.

“No, I told her that you will be taken care of by a family. I don’t like her Ian, what if Blair saw her?”

“She’s still at her mom’s, I need to call her. I lost my phone, can you help me get my laptop? it’s in the living room. I can find out her number from someone, I just need to access my email.”

He slowly got up and winced when he felt the stitches on his abdomen. His mom looked worried but he assured her that he was fine and he just needs to go to the bathroom.

She lets him do his thing while she goes to the living room to find his laptop. Then told Rose to prepare his lunch, and pack more food on his fridge for the next couple of days.

He finally gets her number from Luka, then took out a spare burner phone that he bought weeks ago after he gave one to Blair.

He waited until his mom get back home later in the afternoon when she had to make sure that he was all set for the rest of the night.

“Blair?” his voice still sounded weak, but he tried to sound casual. He didn’t want to make her worry.

“Ian? I’ve been waiting for you. I thought…”

“I’m sorry I lost my phone. Garcia still…”

“Oh…” the mention of the woman’s name made her burn with jealousy. Though she didn’t know if she should be feeling it, maybe things had changed in the last couple of days. She was not sure.

“What do you mean oh? I missed you. How are you? How’s your mom?”

“She passed away three days ago, the same day you got shot. I tried to reach you…”

“Blair… baby,”

Ian was shocked to hear about her mom. But all she heard was that he sounded worried as if he was truly sorry for her and it was hurting her more to the point that she was teary.

“You should rest, Garcia said…”

“Wait, you talk to her?”

“Yeah, I went to your place after…”Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

“Why didn’t you?…”

“I thought, look Ian you don’t have to…”

“Damn it, Blair I love you, I should be with you right now. I just got to… oh fuck!”

He was so emotional that he could feel his stitches throbbed when he got up abruptly from the bed.

She could hear that he was irritated and probably in pain from his wound, but she was reminded that Garcia sounded sure of herself. She didn’t know what to do in this situation. Not after she found out that Benjamin had fucked other women without her even noticing. The experience made her more insecure with herself. She was feeling that if her husband could cheat on her then her boyfriend could too.

“You should rest Ian, we will talk again.” She abruptly ended the call because she couldn’t hold off on her tears any longer.

Her heart breaks for him, knowing that the situation had just gotten so much worse and she that was losing him.

While on the other end Ian was thinking that he needed to clear the situation soonest, but he needs to try if his body could take the long journey to the suburbs.

But then Ian finally lost it when Garcia was back to his house to check in on him, knowing his mother had left already.

“Give me back my phone Garcia.”

“What? what are you talking about?”

“I know you talked to Blair, why didn’t you tell me she was here? her mom had just passed away, and she was taking her grieving time to check up on me and you fucking send her away!”

Garcia was startled by his words, but she was quick to think that it might just be her words, she might be lying just like she did.

“And you believe in her over me? the husband killer over a police officer?”

“Damn it, Gracia, I don’t have time for this. Just give me back my phone!”

“Here, I just found it. And yeah you don’t have to thank me for it. It was my pleasure. Now you can go back to your girlfriend! I fucking love you, Ian! men! every fucking time!”

She was hurt by Ian, she hates herself for falling so easily to the man while she knows from the start that they had agreed on a casual sex relationship. But she was wanting him, wanting the big picture, the relationship, someone she could go home to after a long hard day’s work. And she really thought it would be him.

Ian cursed as Garcia slammed his door and walked out on him. He quickly checked his phone. Dozens of miscalls and texts from Blair. Then he cursed some more before he quickly packed his bag for his overnight stay at Blair’s.

He just hoped that he wasn’t too late.
