Chapter 57
Jasmine
I watched as Mia’s parents walked to the stage, people cheering and clapping on each side, their eyes shining with excitement and love for the couple.
I joined in clapping too, a big smile on my face as I wished for a loving relationship with my mates just like their parents, and a successful marriage like theirs.
I was sure that it wouldn’t be easy to achieve such, but I was ready to try my best to make it all work. I had always loved and admired Gina and would often silently pray to be blessed as her by having multiple mates.
I still feel that the moon goddess may have answered my childhood dream by giving me Mia’s three brothers as mates.
Even though I regret most of my actions from the beginning of our relationship, that was due to how they had all treated me in the past.
But I was glad that we were in a better place now and hopefully not, nothing would go wrong.
Mia’s parents soon reached the stage, and everyone took their seats, waiting for them to begin their speech. I waited with my heart thumping with excitement, eager to hear what they had to say, hoping they might share the secrets of a happy life like theirs.
“First and foremost, we would like to thank you all for honoring our invitation. I want you all to know that without you, there can never be us,” they began. “Secondly, we would like to thank the heavens for bringing this beautiful and wonderful woman into our lives.”
I watched as Mia’s mom blushed, and a smile crept onto my face. My mates certainly inherited their parents’ flattering abilities. They wouldn’t have been so skilled at making me blush if not for their parents.
“Being beautiful alone does not make you a good mother and Luna. There is more work you have to do yourself, and for that, we thank Gina for being a part of our lives and for being the best thing we could ever ask for,” they continued, showering her with praise and affection. “She has showered us with so much love and affection that, no matter how much we try to reciprocate it, we would never be able to.”
As they spoke, I felt a hand on my shoulder and looked up to see that it was Ethan.
He moved closer to me and whispered in my ear, “That will be us very soon. We’ll be standing on the stage together, addressing a lot of people just like this,” he chuckled.
Before I could respond, Zane leaned closer too and said, “But one thing is for sure; we will be the ones to shower you with so much love and affection that you won’t be able to reciprocate. We will make sure of that.”
Once again, my cheeks burned from blushing. It felt like my dreams of a happy and successful marriage were about to come true, even more fulfilling than I had imagined. I smiled, still watching Mia’s parents as they continued their speech.
Soon, it was time for the dance. Everyone moved to the stage with their partners, dancing to the music’s rhythm.
I sat there, observing them, and looking around with a wide grin on my face. It was such a joyous moment that all other feelings, except happiness and excitement, faded away.
I was still seated when my mates stood up beside me and turned to me. “Will you dance with us, Jasmine?” they asked.
Why not? I had been secretly waiting for them to ask, and I might have asked them if they hadn’t. I stood up and held Calix’s hand, smiling as we all headed to the stage.
We began to dance, moving rhythmically to the music. They took turns dancing with me, their hands tightly holding my waist, claiming me as theirs. As we danced, it seemed like all my worries faded, and I could think of nothing but enjoying the moment.
As we continued to dance, my eyes caught Elena rushing out of the hall. I wanted to ignore it and focus on the moment, but a feeling pushed me to find out more.
I discreetly excused myself from the stage and followed her quietly, curious about her intentions. I stopped at one point, debating whether to go back and leave her be, or continue following her. I wasn’t sure if what she was planning could be dangerous to me, but I still wanted to know.
I watched as she hid behind a tall flower to make a call. Who could be on the other end of that call? What were they saying? These questions raced through my mind, urging me to get closer.
I listened attentively, hoping to hear what she was saying or hear the other person’s voice, but I couldn’t hear anything. I moved closer, hoping to eavesdrop, and gasped when she suddenly turned to me.
I froze, staring at her with wide eyes. My heart seemed to stop when she smiled and asked, “What are you doing here?”
I cleared my throat, wondering how to respond. However, it might be best to ignore her. However, I asked,
“Is everything okay with you?”
She nodded at me, still wearing her smile. Somehow, it felt fake. “Yes, I am.”
I nodded back at her and returned to the hall. People were still dancing on the stage, enjoying themselves. It was a very joyous moment, but that lingering feeling of fear and doubt persisted.
I couldn’t shake the sense that things weren’t as they should be and that I was still in danger. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
I contemplated for a while if I should let my mates in on what was bothering me, but on second thought, kicked against it.
It would be wrong to soil their happy mood and moreover, I could be overthinking the potential dangers lying ahead.
I ordered more drinks and started consuming them, not caring if I reached my drinking limit. I wanted to chase off the thoughts.
Soon, I began to feel tipsy and dizzy. I saw my mates circling me, helping me off the chair I was lazily seated on as they escorted me back home.
Everything I saw appeared in pairs, and for those moments, the lingering feelings of fear and doubt seemed to fade, leaving me with nothing but tranquility and calm.
