Falling For The Contract Bride Chapter 75
Chapter 75
Chapter 75 Their Roles
Upon hearing Lu Jinye’s question, Mu Zhi raised her head and looked at him.
She then put on a light smile, “Then, what do you want to know?”
It was the first time she opened up the Lu Jinye. Lu Jinye asked her what he didn’t know about her while she had to address his questions.
They would have never done that in the past.
They neither spoke about love nor emotion. He was responsible to dote on her while she was responsible to be adorable.
But now… Their statures appeared to be… Equal.
Yeah, equal.
The word echoed in Lu Jinye’s mind. He found it difficult to get used to it.
He wore a stiff smile as he disinfected her wounds before starting to apply ointment. In between his gentle movements, he said, “I want to know anything you’re willing to tell me.”
“Mu Zhi, female, twenty-six years of age…”
Mu Zhi introduced herself in a playful tease.
“Why?”
Lu Jinye gazed at Mu Zhi with his deep-set eyes and asked solemnly.
“What why?”
Initially, Mu Zhi thought Lu Jinye was messing around, but she was astonished for a few seconds when she noticed his stern face.
“Why did you choose to marry me?”
“Because I need money.”
Mu Zhi answered that question once again.
This was one of the few questions Mu Zhi could answer without hesitation, money.
It was her simple reason for marrying Lu Jinye.
He frowned but did not pursue.
It would be pointless to press on.
Done with the ointment, Mu Zhi made herself presentable and bid Lu Jinye goodbye. She had to rush to work.
Lu Jinye did not make her stay. He let her leave.
Except, a long while after Mu Zhi had left, Lu Jinye called his assistant and said, “Look into Mu Zhi, this time, I want a detailed report of her life and her family background.”
After making the necessary arrangements, Lu Jinye hung up.
…
When she arrived at the hospital, Mu Zhi was trying her best to make herself invisible. Some people turned their faces at her and she would dodge eye contacts.
Rumors were spreading wild lately. Had she not been alerted, she would find herself in the spotlight of gossiping in a flash.
She was in the middle of her sitting motion when a woman approached her. A woman whose figure was extremely familiar to Mu Zhi.
There were a few graze wounds on her face on top of the bruises over her body. Mu Zhi had not managed to recognize the woman until she was before her.
She took off her mask and gave Mu Zhi a provocative smile.
“Dr. Mu, please dress the wounds that you inflicted on me. Make sure you be careful with my injury. If you don’t, I’m going to have to file a complaint against you.”
Mu Zhi glanced at Xia Shaner, who was standing right before her eyes, peevishly. What an annoying bitch.
“How did you find me here?”
“What’s the matter? Am I not allowed here? Are you afraid of getting caught by your lover?”
Xia Shaner scanned the area with a mocking smile.
Mu Zhi could not be bothered by her nonsense. She started writing a prescription, “You could’ve just applied some ointments for yourself judging at the seriousness of the wounds. Otherwise, the nurses will help you.”
Following which, Mu Zhi scribbled a few words and handed the note to Xia Shaner.
But Xia Shaner wouldn’t leave. She stood to her feet and sized up Mu Zhi in disapproval, “Where do you think I can find Dr. Lu Junnian? May I know if you’d be interested if I talk about your past
relationship with Dr. Lu Junnian?”
Mu Zhi could not help but feel Xia Shaner was out of her mind.
“Are you sick in the head? What are you doing here wasting your time? What good does it bring you?”
Xia Shaner was starting to get under her skin.
However, Xia Shaner showed no sign of wanting to leave.
Without any other choice, Mu Zhi had to drive her away, “Enough, next patient! You may leave.”
Meanwhile, the nurse helped usher Xia Shaner out the door.
Alas, Xia Shaner still showed no sign of wanting to leave.
She made herself comfortable on the medical chair, sitting there shamelessly.
“Please go!”
Mu Zhi muttered impatiently. Xia Shaner would not budge. She even tried to strike a conversation with Mu Zhi, “Dr. Mu, do you have any idea what my life is like since you separated Lu Jinye and me?”
“I met plenty of men, all of them are scumbags.”
Before Mu Zhi could say a thing, Xia Shaner added.
“Have you got an idea? This is all your fault.”
“Miss Xia, I suggest you visit the Psychiatric Department.”
Mu Zhi had completely run out of patience due to Xia Shaner’s constant barking.
She stood up, preparing to leave her clinic.
“If you don’t feel like making your way there, I’ll get the psychologist to come here instead.”
“It’s fine.”
Xia Shaner shrieked. Seeing that Mu Zhi was planning head out, she suddenly jumped in front to stop her.
Her roar put Mu Zhi in a daze. She had no clue how she was supposed to react at all.
The next second, Xia Shaner went berserk. She charged at Mu Zhi and seized her arm.
Squeezing Mu Zhi’s arm, it felt like Xia Shaner was trying to break it into half.
“Where are you planning to go? To call the security on me? I was only driven away by the guards last time because you made them do it! That’s why I can no longer get close to Lu Jinye! Hold that thought! Don’t even think about it!”
Mu Zhi noticed that Xia Shaner’s behavior was starting to become concerning.
It was not how a normal person should behave.
She tried to withdraw her arm, but Xia Shaner’s grip did not relax one bit. It became even tighter.
Besides, Xia Shaner was slowly losing control of her emotions, reflected by her tightening grip.
Completely losing her plot, she wailed like a banshee. But within fractions of a section, she would put up an optimistic expression, telling herself that she must not give up. Then, she started murmuring to herself, saying that she had it tough lately.
Mu Zhi could only feel the sharp pain caused by Xia Shaner.
The nurse noticed Mu Zhi’s abnormally and quickly called for help.
However, due to her unstable behavior, even the guards did not dare get one step closer to Mu Zhi and Xia Shaner.
The façade continued to unfold as a crowd starting building up around them. Xia Shaner became utterly nervous and she would lash out any moment now.
In the end, she was finally willing to let go of Mu Zhi’s arm and snatched a fruit knife sitting on the coffee table.
Swinging the knife in the air, she tried to force the guards away.
“All of you, leave us!”
Mu Zhi was initially not afraid. She thought about reasoning with Xia Shaner.
But… As the situation was starting to lose control, panic started coming to her. Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
After all, Xia Shaner was armed with a knife. She must not die. She had to take care of Mu Xiaomu.
All she could do was making attempts to calm Xia Shaner.
But Xia Shaner had only hatred for her. She could not listen to a word Mu Zhi had to say.
