Chapter 637
Cassie was boiling with a mix of confusion and anger.
"Winston, what's gotten into you?" she snapped.
The moment Winston laid eyes on Cassie's face, his heart skipped a beat. The memory of his impulsive kiss flashed in his mind-the warmth of her lips and her alluring scent still lingered in his senses. His face turned beet red in an instant.
Cassie noticed something was off with Winston. Instinctively, she reached out, placing a hand on his forehead, her voice tinged with concern, "Are you alright? Your face is as red as a tomato."
Winston jerked back as if avoiding a contagious virus. His expression turned downright ghastly. His voice was icy, "Cassie, let's not see each other unless it's absolutely necessary. And stop bothering me."
Without giving Cassie a chance to respond, he turned on his heel and stormed into his room. The glass door slammed shut, and heavy curtains were drawn, cutting them off completely.
Cassie stood there, stunned and
clueless about what had just unfolded. His sudden change of attitude had left her seething. Initially, Winston had seemed normal, but lately, he had grown increasingly strange, now showing outright disdain for her. Cassie felt a surge of anger rising within her. She let out a dismissive snort, waved her hand, and climbed down from the apple tree she'd been perched in. Once on the ground, she shouted up towards the window, "Winston, I, Cassie, don't need to be friends with someone who looks down on me. From now on, we're through!"
With that, Cassie walked away without a backward glance. Inside his room, Winston heard her words and felt as if a boulder was pressing on his chest, suffocating him. He prided himself on being able to see through people, believing he could remain detached from worldly matters. Yet, his control was slipping away around Cassie, a feeling he utterly despised.
