Chapter 630
"Hey there, what are you doing here?" A voice wafted over to them.
Chloe and Connor looked up together.
There was Cassie, lounging against the table, looking surprised. In the blink of an eye, she squeezed herself next to Chloe, getting so close their arms almost touched. Without a second thought, she snagged the fork right out of Chloe's hand and started digging into the fish. "Chloe, you're so unfair! How many times have I asked you out for drinks and you turned me down? Yet here you are, secretly munching on grilled fish with someone else, and you didn't even invite me."
Chloe just gave a resigned sigh, clearly used to Cassie's antics. She simply grabbed another fork.
"So, how'd you find us here?" Chloe asked.
"I was tagging along with someone to Tech Town nearby to pick up a voice recorder. He lost his and apparently that's the only place that has them," Cassie replied.
Just then, that someone showed up.
Chloe jumped up, "Dr. Winston!"
Winston chuckled, "Chloe, you ought to call me 'big brother' by now."
Chloe blushed a bit, "We've been friends for ages; it's hard to suddenly change what I call you."
Winston had noticed Cassie stealing Chloe's fork earlier and eating happily with it. His heart sank a little. Wasn't it obvious Cassie had a thing for Chloe?
Chloe offered, "Why not sit down and join us?"
Both guys hesitated, but since Cassie was already tucking in, she waved Winston over too. "Winston, don't be shy, we're all friends here."
Winston glanced at Connor, unsure
if Cassie was just clueless or deliberately ignoring the tension. Connor's expression said, "Who said we're friends?" Clearly, he wasn't thrilled.
Eventually, Winston settled next to Connor. The small table felt a bit cramped with four people around it.
Chloe asked with concern, "Winston... big brother, did you really lose your voice recorder? The fancy one with the ruby?"
Winston nodded vaguely, keeping his eyes down.
Chloe had known him long enough
to realize that Winston, being a
et
therapist for years, had a prized, incredibly pricey voice recorder, No way could you find something like that at a local electronics store.

Cassie, ever the blunt one, chimed in, "He's been having a streak of bad luck lately. If it's not the computer breaking, it's the phone going missing. Now his everyday voice recorder is gone too."
She shot Winston a teasing look, "Honestly, I think it's your mind that's wandered off."
Winston glanced at Cassie, then quickly looked away.
Chloe noticed Winston's evasive eyes and the slight flush on his cheeks. She had an inkling about what was going on.
She asked outright, "You two aren't dating, are you?"
Winston's eyes widened in shock, his cheeks turning red, but he stayed silent, biting his lip.
Chloe was almost sure now, but Cassie was quick to deny it. "What are you on about? We're just good pals. You know my type."
Winston said nothing, focusing on his food. Cassie threw a look at Winston, "Let's not joke about this again, okay? See, he can't handle it."
