Denied by Destiny: Trapped in the Shadows of the Mate Bond

Chapter 176

Kaia POV

My words linger between us, Hector's anger leaving an oppressive mood to the room.

His aura was so strong that I was finding the air too close, it was hard to breathe. As if a thunderstorm was threatening to shake the walls of this house.

Is it because I am his mate that his aura affects me in such a way. When I mark him...will it level itself out

My eyes remain on him, like a predator ready to attack. I can't turn my back on him...I know he wouldn't do any thing but still, my wolf is primed and ready.

Riley starts to stir on the ground, his pained groan grabbing my attention. He sits up rubbing at his head as he turns to look at me. His eyes widening when he realises his alpha is on the verge of bringing hell to this

room.

"Luna...Alpha." Riley loo

at his chest, his eyes looking to my hands stained with his blood,

"Rosa needs your help Riley." I offer as he turns to find Rosa still standing against the wall, her body still shaking.

She was locked in some kind of trance, some kind of panic mode and it pains me to see her like this.

"Open the windows, I can smell rogue in here." Hector growls at me before he moves, stopping with the crunching of glass under his shoes.

He looks down at my feet, a vibrating snarl escaping from his chest...he was only just noticing my cut feet.

He stalks back towards me and I backstep a little, he wouldn't actually eat me would he...he still had that predator look about him.

He moves at a masterful speed as he swoops me up in his arms, carrying me over the broken glass. I don't dare protest, and not that I would admit it out loud...his intoxicating scent... this close...was making me lightheaded.

He cradles me up the stairs, into my own room where he gently places me on the edge of the bed. He lifts my feet up, assessing my wounds.

His eyes take on a demonic black, the grey ash burning away into a deeper colour.

Any chance of him calming down had disappeared at the sight of my bloody feet. My hands, the blood was Riley's, but my feet and back of my legs were littered with broken glass and blood.

"Hector calm down." My eyes don't leave him as his nostrils flare and he pinches the bridge of his nose. "Don't tell me to calm down!" His words are still angry but his touch is gentle. He walks into the ensuite only to return moments later with a damp towel.

I try to pull my feet away, but he holds them steady into his chest as he pulls out pieces of glass. "He was only one man and he just wanted to check I was alive. You are over reacting Hector." I regret my words as soon as they leave my lips, his glare was scary as he stopped all movement...his eyes burning

into mine.

If I don't know any better I would think that he wanted to teach me how to obey him.

"It could have been a decoy to get rogues on site. You are the Luna, start acting like one." He tuts at me as he continues to clean my feet.

but

"I am not your Luna yet Hector, but I am an Alpha and if I see fit I will make my own decisions. Especially when they come to my own safety." My jaw tightens as try to defend my actions. I try to move my feet away but he keeps them locked into his chest. "You made a decision based on just yourself and it affected my entire pack. Riley was old cold, Rosa is having a panic attack. The old you would never have been so blinded.."

"Blinded?"

"Blinded by self importance." His words stun me, that's not what I had done at all.

I just wanted to know if I could remember something. Anything.

I want to so desperately tell him what it is like to wake and not remember anything, not even your own name. What once was up is now down, and down is up. That the only reason I believe he is telling the myself.

truth about our bond is because I feel it f

But and as much as I hate to admit it to myself...he was right, I hadn't thought of it being a decoy, that others might have been waiting to attack.

I had gone above Riley's advice...I had acted purely for myself. I hadn't thought of the possible repercussions of letting an unknown person into pack grounds.

A rogue.

"I'm sorry, I didn't think of it like that. I just wanted to see if I would remember, if I could remember my beta...my childhood..."

"Childhood?" He cuts me off, not happy with what I might have continued with.

"Friend, I was going to say friend Hector. What's this really about? He didn't seem to respond well when I mentioned you as my mate, what issue do you have with each other?"© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.

"I've never trusted him from day one, never liked his back story and now this..." He finishes with the towel, and I gasp trying to muffle my moan as he starts to lick my open wounds with his tongue. I watch him, his eyes focusing on mine as his tongue continues to circulate creating an array of tingles. Creating a flood of fegs to my lower core. My toes wanting to curl within his hold.

"And now what?" I clear my throat as he places my feet down and slowly stands me up, testing my balance. I wish he hadn't, I wanted him to continue.

I had noticed that although Hector was a very articulate individual, sometimes he had a way of talking in riddles. Of trying to be cryptic in the way he said things, rather than just say it for what it was.

"He put his hands on you, on what is mine."
