Chapter 66
“I’ll kill any man who lays a finger on your body!” Jax warned looking at Snake. He’s not amused at his retort.
“Spoil sport.” Raine pouted.
“Raine!” Jax growled again.
She rolled her eyes at him then turned to Sam. “We gotta go. Vixen and Crash are watching Maverick. They are probably defiling our couch. You need anything now or before I come back tomorrow?”
Jax growled at her comment about his mom. Raine laughed.
“Clothes tomorrow?” Sam asked.
“Ok I’ll go by your house in the morning and grab some and bring them by in the morning. ” Raine replied.
Everyone left but Smokey, Snake and Hawk. Hawk stood outside her hospital room on watch. Makenzie walked into her room.
“Hey girl, I heard what happened. And I just had to come see you. Can I do anything for you? Anything, clothes, food, kick some skank ass? You name it!” Nurse Makenzie explained.
“No. I’m good. Raine is bringing me clothes in the morning and I have my man.” Sam replied.
“So, did they catch who did this?” Makenzie asked.
“Ah yeah, no need to worry.” Sam hesitated.
“Well good! I hope they pay good! Wanna tell me who the eye candy is standing outside your door?” Makenzie asked.
Sam looked at the doorway. She’d seen Hawk staring Makenzie down. “That’s Hawk he’s VP at the brother charter visiting Smokey’s. And this one to my left is Snake the Prez of that charter.”
“Nice to meet you Snake, Hawk. MC guys huh?” Makenzie smiled.
“Good to meet you.” Snake replied.
“Pleasure is all mine.” Hawk replied from the doorway.
Makenzie turned her smile on him. “Is that where all the good-looking hunks are hiding?” Makenzie asked.Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
“Hey! We have our fair share here too!” Sam snorted.
“Yeah, you do. But seems all the good ones are taken.” Makenzie sighed.
“Good point.” Sam agreed.
“I’m not taken!” Hawk replied.
The girls looked at each other and laughed. “Oh God, don’t make me laugh! It hurts!” Sam groaned.
“Sorry. I gotta get back to work. Just on my break. Take off whatever time you need to heal. We’ll see you back here when you are better.” Makenzie replied.
“About that.” Sam replied.
“Damn. I knew it. You’re taking the other job, aren’t you?” Makenzie asked.
“Yeah. I just handed paperwork in to HR on Friday evening. I work too much here. No outside life.” Sam explained.
“Seems we always lose the good ones.” Makenzie sighed.
“Well, with me gone, you’ll have all the hot docs to yourself again.” Sam grinned.
“No way! They are all man whores. Not touching them. I want a real man who only wants me.” Makenzie replied.
“Smart lady.” Sam agreed.
“I get off at noon. I’ll check back in before I leave.” Makenzie promised.
“Ok thanks!” Sam replied.
Makenzie turned to leave, as she walked by Hawk, she smacked his butt. “Keep up the good work, stud.”
“Damn baby, can’t wait for your shift to end. I’ll be waiting for you.” Hawk growled.
“Wow! What an interesting woman.” Snake replied.
“She’s single.” Sam replied.
The next afternoon Sam got released after bugging the doctors nonstop. Raine dropped her clothes off and only got to visit for a few minutes. Snake and Smokey took Sam home. Hawk joined them, and Sam invited Makenzie over to hang out too. They ordered take out and ordered some movies. After the third movie Makenzie stood up and stretched.
“Well, sorry but I gotta get going.” Makenzie replied.
“You have to work?” Sam asked.
“No. I’m off the next three days.” Makenzie replied.
“I’ve got laundry and cleaning to get done on my off days.” She explained.
“We’re heading home tomorrow. Maybe you’d like to play hooky and come see our clubhouse? Cleaning and laundry can wait.” Hawk grinned.
“Hmm, does sound temping, I hate cleaning! I don’t have any plans. I could use a trip.” Makenzie grinned.
“Well then, why don’t you stay here tonight? I’ve got plenty of room. There’s extra bedrooms.” Sam explained.
“You can bunk with me honey.” Hawk offered.
“Maybe. If you play your cards right, stud.” Makenzie smiled.
The next morning Hawk, Snake, and Makenzie left for their clubhouse. Sam healed and started her job at the new doctor’s office. Kim found out she was pregnant. All the pregnant women were making Sam think about babies. Sam went to visit Raine after work. She’s been missing seeing Maverick. In a short time, she had gotten attached to him. But lately Raine had been staying home a lot. She said it’s because she’s enjoying being home with her son and being a mom.
“I can’t believe how big he’s gotten since I last saw him. I never get to see you guys anymore.” Sam pouted.
“I know. Being a mom is a full-time job. I don’t want to miss a minute of it. It takes time to figure it out too. He’s growing so fast, and so many changes. Most days I’m good if I change clothes and brush my hair. I keep waiting for Jax to say something, but he doesn’t.” Raine explained.
“That man loves you and he’s not concerned with the wrapping.” Sam replied.
“I can tell something is bothering you. Spill.” Raine ordered.
Sam sighed. “How did you know you were ready to be a mom?”
“I didn’t. It just happened. I don’t think you ever really know when you are ready. You just need to be sure you’re with who you want to have kids with. The rest just falls into place.” Raine explained.
“There’s more though, isn’t there?” Raine asked.
“Yeah. I was worried about this from the beginning. But Smokey assured me it wouldn’t be a problem. I love Smokey, really, I do. He’s who I see growing old with, having kids with. And I want that more than anything.” Sam explained.
“But?” Raine asked.
“I’m starting to have feelings for Snake too. It’s confusing the hell out of me. It doesn’t take away from what I feel for Smokey. The sex is amazing, intense, phenomenal even.” Sam explained.
“If you’re that confused, first you need to explain it to Smokey. And until you guys figure out what you both want; I think you should stop the threesomes. They’re obviously confusing you.” Raine replied.
“I want to say it’s just sexual attraction. I mean the guy is hot and sexy as sin. And the things he can do with his mouth!” Sam sighed.
“Omg don’t go on! Mav isn’t due for a map for hours!” Raine groaned.
“Sorry. I’m so confused! But you’re right. I need to end this.” Sam agreed.
“Then you can re-evaluate what you want moving forward.” Raine agreed.
“Thanks, Raine. You always know just what to say to help me figure out my messes!” Sam replied.
