Chapter 159
-CLARA-
Damon let out a chuckle as I tightened my arms around him for like the hundredth time.
"I'm not going to disappear, Clara" He murmured as he placed a soft kiss on my forehead.
"Well I won't be seeing you for a week so pardon me for wanting to get into your skin" I murmured and he chuckled lightly but said nothing else. “We are here” Luca announced some minutes later and my arms reflexively tightened around Damon.
"It's okay baby, I'll stay a little while before leaving. Okay?" He uttered softly as he caressed my face and I let out a sigh before nodding.
We have been on the road for hours now and although I didn't want the trip to end because I knew that meant Damon would soon leave, I was glad because I wanted to stretch my leg a little.
We climbed out of the car and my eyes widened when I saw where I would be staying for the next one week. I had expected it to be a small hut because of how Discreet Damon and Luca were being but it was just a big mansion but with the amount of guards roaming around, it was heavily guarded.
“Isn't this mansion a little too big?" I questioned as we walked through the gates.
"I want you to be comfortable, Clara. Besides it doesn't matter because no one will ever be able to get you here. This territory belongs to a very close acquaintance of mine. He owes me so he was more than willing to let you stay here. Several years ago, he had the most powerful witch place a cloaking spell over this territory so it's completely invisible to the outside world. You will be safe here" He explained and my eyes widened before I turned to him and grabbed his hand.
"Then why don't you just hide out here with me? We can stay here till they give up and stop searching for you. Delilah, your parents, everyone can come here right?" I questioned as I stared into his eyes with hope in mine but he just smiled slightly then placed his palm on my face.
"If it were in the past I would have totally agreed to stay here with you because I was selfish and only cared about myself but you have made me a better person and what are our children going to think when they hear their father abandoned his people when they needed him the most?" He questioned and I pouted.
"A smart man that wants to protect himself?" I questioned him and he chuckled before pinching my cheek slightly.
"Stop being such a stubborn little devil. I'll be okay, I promised you didn't I?" He asked and I sighed before nodding.
"You did" I replied and he smiled.
"Then trust me, hmm?" He uttered softly and I sighed then nodded.
"I trust you" I murmured and he smiled then placed a kiss on my forehead before interlocking our fingers as we walked towards the mansion.
"This your friend or Like you called him, your old acquaintance, where is he?" I questioned as we got closer.
"He's away on a business trip, he should be here tomorrow. He'll come to check up on you so if you need anything, you'll tell him about it" He uttered and I raised an eyebrow.
"I didn't expect you to be okay with a man coming to see me without you being here" I said to him and he chuckled.
“Well he's gay so I don't mind although now that I think about it, he probably has never met a woman as beautiful as you before. You might make him straight" He uttered with a straight face so I couldn't tell if he was being serious.
"Damon, you're being cheesy again" I told him with a grin on my face and he chuckled.
"You bring out that part of me. Let's go in so you can get settled in" He said as he pushed the door open.
My mouth dropped in shock, big because of how beautiful the house was but because of who was in the house.
"Aunt Amelia?!" I shrieked and immediately ran towards her and hugged her tightly while she laughed.
“Calm down child, my bones are not as strong as they used to be" She joked but I didn't let go. It felt like I haven't seen her in years.
"What are you doing here?" I questioned as I pulled away and she turned to Damon.
"He didn't want you to be bored and alone here so he had me brought here to keep you company and also help you with your pregnancy" She explained and I turned to Damon and he smiled.
"Thank you" I mouthed and he just shook his head.
"Let's check around before we leave" Damon uttered and I watched as he walked away.
"You're worried about him," Aunt Amelia pointed out, turning my attention to her.
"I can't push this nagging feeling that something bad is going to happen to him away and it's eating me alive. I just want him to be okay" I told her and she sighed.
"Well there's nothing you can do. You'll just have to trust him on this one. Besides he won't be alone, the werewolves will back him up and his other allies" She said and I scoffed.
"Damon has more enemies than allies and most werewolves are against him because of his past but you're right, he asked me to trust him so I'm going to trust him I told her and she smiled.
"That's more like it. By the way, I forgot to tell you that..." Before she could complete her sentence, I heard Damon's loud growl followed by a loud whisper from another wolf.
Why did that sound familiar?

Without wasting any more time, we rushed out to see what the commotion was about.
"Damon, what's going on? Did you... Liam?" There on the ground laid Liam with bite marks and claw marks on his body.
"I'm going to kill him" Damon uttered and was about to rush towards him when Aunt Amelia ran in front of him, shielding Liam.
“I brought him here with me so if anyone deserves to be punished it's me. Don't kill him, I beg you!" She pleaded and I frowned. "Damon that's enough" I said and he frowned but visibly calmed down.
"But..."
"It's okay. Why would you bring him here, Aunt Amelia?" I questioned as I turned to her and she sighed.
“He... Liam is şick. He doesn't have
much time to live anymore. I swear I didn't want to bring him but he
wanted to apologize to you beforeet
he died. Please understand" She informed us and my eyes widened before it darted to Liam who was still groaning in pain on the ground.
Liam was dying?...
