Her heart began to race, and she quickly looked away.

"Miss Lydia, are you okay?" someone beside her asked, noticing the sudden change in her expression.

She forced a weak smile and shook her head. "I'm fine, let's keep moving."

But on the way back, she couldn't shake the unsettling image of Eugene from her mind. It played on a loop, dragging her into a spiral of growing unease.

Lately, Eugene seemed to haunt her like a living nightmare. Why had he shown up today? After everything he had already done to her, what more did he want?

These unanswered questions piled up, fueling an uncontrollable sense of frustration. Without realizing it, Lydia started walking faster, her emotions getting the best of her. "Miss Lydia, please slow down." someone called after her, but before she could respond, her ankle twisted, and she stumbled forward.

In that split second, A wave of regret washed over her in that split second. But before she hit the floor, a familiar pair of arms caught her, pulling her into a protective embrace.

She instantly recognized the warmth and safety of Quincy's hold. His heart pounded against her, racing just as fast as hers. Clearly, the scare hadn't only rattled her. Quincy had been just as frightened by the close call. "Lydia, are you alright?" he asked, his voice full of concern.

"I'm fine," she managed to say, just as she heard footsteps approaching behind her.

Looking up, she wasn't surprised to see Eugene.

His tailored suit fit perfectly, highlighting the sharp lines of his face. To anyone else, he looked

every bit the part of a refined businessman. But Lydia knew better. Beneath that polished exterior lurked a man capable of unspeakable things.

He had deceived her, manipulated her emotions, and tried to pull her back into his web with false tenderness. The memory of that night still haunted her, and every time she saw him, fear gripped her heart a little tighter. Eugene's gaze flicked between her and Quincy before settling on Quincy. "Mr. Quincy," Eugene said smoothly, "May I have a word with you?"

Quincy stared back at him, his expression unreadable. Without a word, he gently released Lydia and stood.

Lydia's instincts screamed at her to stop him. "Quincy, don't go," she pleaded, her voice barely more than a whisper.

He gave her a reassuring look, his warm hand briefly squeezing hers. "I'll be right back. Wait for me."

Lydia watched helplessly as they walked into a nearby office. Her face turned pale, the anxiety overwhelming her as she sat, trembling. Someone nearby noticed her distress and approached. "Miss Lydia, are you sure you're alright?"

Lydia nodded faintly, but before she could respond, the person added, "I think that man is from Ford Corporation. Word around the office is they've come to negotiate a deal. But honestly, it looks more like they're giving in."

Lydia blinked, confused by the comment.

"You probably didn't see it, but while you were away, Mr. Quincy has been relentless He's gone after Ford Corporation hard, taking several deals right out from under them. I think that's why their CEO is kere now, trying to salvage what he can."

Meanwhile, inside the office, Eugene slid a contract across the table toward Quincy. "The transfer rights to the Southland property. Sign, and it's yours." Quincy didn't even glance at it before pushing it back toward him.

"What's the meaning of this?" Eugene's voice grew cold.

"I agreed to this meeting for one reason," Quincy's eyes were sharp as he leaned forward. "Stay away from Lydia. This is your final warning."
