Betrayed By My Mate Claimed By The Alpha

CHAPTER 15

Chapter 15

DERRICK

A distressing thing happened, amidst my quarrel with Lara. I received a message from the Lycan king asking to meet up. This gave me cause for concern because of a long–standing history of enmity and conflicts between Lycans and werewolves; throughout history, Lycans and Werewolves have always been at war, always going at each other’s throats, always tussling for territory. So this letter worried me because I knew that it meant trouble.

I held the letter in my hand, rereading it, as if if I read it repeatedly, the message on the page would somehow be blotted out. I paced the room, my feet landing heavily on the wooden floor, and went to the stand at the window, the letter still in my hand. I was deep in thoughts.

I heard the door squeak open and I started, made a swivel and saw Lara. She was standing at the threshold, her hand on the door post, another hand on her hip, a coquettish smile on her narrow face. Something about the way she stood there smiling deviously irritated me. I growled to myself

“What the fuck is amusing you?” I said with a snarl

“You,” she said, her face straightening. “You’re the one that’s amusing me, Derrick. Look at yourself.”

She walked inside, swinging her hips ostentatiously, and sat on the bed. She took a glass from the beside table and poured herself some whiskey. I watched her as she took a shot and then gave me a look.

“You look like you’ve seen a ghost,” she said, leaning backwards.

“Since when did you care, Lara?” I asked, sitting down.

“Since you started acting like an asshole towards me, the Luna of this pack,” she said, with so much aplomb it made me want. to smack her across the face.

“I fucking made you Luna,” I said. “Like I said last time, I can take it back, if I want.”

“But

you won’t,” she said. “You won’t

She poured herself another glass of whiskey, but this time she didn’t drink it. She handed it to me. I refused by shaking my head, but she held it in front of me till I took it.

“You should have seen yourself yesterday,” she said as I swallowed the liquor. “Acting all upset because of me, a female. I really have you wrapped around my little finger.”

“Except you don’t,” I replied.

“I think I do, Derrick,” she said. “You’re all mine.”

She leaned forward, till her body was stretched over the bed and lightly stroked my chin, the corners of her lips curled. I smacked her hand off of my face.

“Keep dreaming.” I said.

But she did not stop. She moved towards me, moving across the bed in a serpentine movement. She raised her body, till her face was level with mine and cupped my face in her hand. She starred at me for a full minute, observing the features of my face, as if she was trying to deduce something from it. I said nothing, just looked right back at her.

“Ohh, Derrick,” she said, her voice as soft as the breeze.

She inched her face closer to mine, but I moved my head away.

Not today, Lara,” I saidus she let go of me. “Not today”

Defeated and deflated by my rejection, she sat back down. She poured another glass of whiskey.

“What is that in your hand, by the way?” She said, nodding to the hand that held the letter.

“It’s a letter,” I said diffidently.

“No shit,” she said. “What does it say?”

“It’s from the Lycan king. 1answered.

I saw her eyes widen at the mention of “Lycan king. She took another sip of the whiskey.

“The Lycan king,” she said, nodding. “Well, is that why you look is worried?” NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.

“What do you even mean by that?” I snapped “You’re talking like you don’t know the history of Lycans and werewolves. This is really worrisome, you know. And it’s out of the blue.”

“Relax,” she said, crossing her legs. “It’s probably nothing. Maybe he just wants to hang out.”

She said the last sentence with a wink, and it made me even more upset that she was being flippant in the face of apparent danger.

“It’s not nothing. Lara,” I said, trying to steer the conversation back into seriousness. “It’s everything but nothing. I’ve not been a Alpha for such a long time, and in my regime, I have to witness something like this.”

“Well, I guess this is the time to prove yourself, she said. “This is the time to show everyone how great of an Alpha you are

I nodded. Deep down, I knew she was right..

She reached over and snatched the letter from my hand, read it slowly and handed it back to me. She threw her head back and giggled like a little girl. I could tell she was already getting drunk.

“This isn’t funny, though,” I said. “No matter what this is, it’s fucking serious. I don’t see why you’re laughing at it.”

But she laughed some more, and it made my skin crawl.

“You’re sick,” I said, and started to walk out. “Fucking sick.”

“Wait, Derrick, wait,” she called just as I was about to exit the room. I turned around and looked at her eyes made low by

alcohol.

“What now, Lara?I asked.

“I have an idea,” she said, “And I’m sure you’ll like it.”

I’m sure I won’t, but let’s hear it,” I said, folding my hands in front of my chest

The Lycan King wants to meet? Fine,” she said. “You should hold a feast right here, and invite him over.”

“What?” I asked, aghast. “Why would I do that?”

Just do it, she insisted.

“No, I’m not stupid.”

“Look, Derrick, O Mighty Alpha, you’re not even thinking this through,” she said, getting on her feet. “It’s safer here, right here among your own pack, it’s safer. You get the upper hand, and you get to assert dominance, You’ll have an advantage if
