Branch One Hundred and Seventy Seven
The giggles of the girls and the other women who were around the food truck lingered in Jessica’s mind. Xavier found it strange that she was so quiet during their ride back to their hotel room. She gave short answers that seemed like they were laced with annoyance but not quite so too.
When they pulled up to the front of the hotel she barged out of the car without waiting for the valet or Xavier to open the door for her. She walked straight to the elevator keeping a straight face. She was fuming but she knew the reason who not supposed to be a good one but it did not change her mind either way.
“Wait up” she heard Xavier call out to her as the door to the elevator closed shut. She watched as his face turned sad.
He wondered what could have changed her mood in an instant. What could it be exactly that got her that way? He waited for the next one and got to the room.
When he entered she was taking off her clothes and unlike how she was usually she would have been startled to hear him enter the room and then run to hide her nakedness but she seemed bold and daring.
He walked cautiously to her and came to stand in front of her. She raised her head to look him in the face. She was trying her best to keep a straight face. She did not want to fail in her quest. Her hand went to the back of her dress and she began to unzip it.
“Are you angry at me?”
“No”
“Did I do something wrong back at the food stall?”
“No”
“Are you tired, do you need to rest?”
“No”This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
“Okay do you need anything”
“No”
Xavier wanted to sigh in frustration. The conversation was not going anywhere and she was making it difficult for him to know how to react.
“Jessica” he called to her holding her by the shoulders. “You are obviously angry with me”
“I am not” she snapped.
“Tell that to your tone and your knitted eyebrows,” he said and her frown deepened.
“I am fine, I just need to freshen up,” she said shaking her shoulders so his hands fell. His firm became tighter on her shoulders.
“I can only apologize to you if I know what I did wrong” he started and she looked at him again. She was trying her best to avoid his gaze because she knew his handsome face would lure her to give in to him.
“At the food stall,” she started and watched his reaction. He was calm and ready to listen to what she was going to say.
“Yes at the food stall, you left to tell those girls to stop taking pictures of us but you only came back after taking so many pictures with all those women there today”
“I only went there because of you and I was just trying to be nice to them,” he says gently. He was not sure he knew why she was angry with him.
“I know you did, but I did not like the way those girls were throwing themselves at you. I’m made me feel out of place there” she confessed.
She was not necessarily mad at him but mad at the situation and realization that her husband was too attractive and it could be trouble for her later in the future.
“Jessica are you jealous?” he asked with amusement. “You are” he added when he saw the expression on her face.
“Oh my God, you are so cute”
“I am sorry, I did not know how to turn them down since they were all so nice,” he said when she pouted and looked away.
“You could not say no to them? I thought you were the master of saying no” she replied crossing her hand across her chest.
“I was?”
“You always had a way of turning me down when we first met. You did not know those women but you could not turn them down?” she asked not knowing how to add up what he was saying.
“I am sorry, there is no justification for what I have done, I am wrong,” he said using one hand to turn her head to face him.
“I am sorry okay?” he said again.
“Why do you have to be stupidly handsome?” she murmured and dropped her hands from her chest.
“I am sorry about that too” he added and then she smiled sarcastically.
“Am I forgiven”
“I will think about it while I freshen up, you go and try to think of the wright way to apologize to me” she added shaking again this time his hands falling to his side. She turned and walked around him almost reaching the bathroom when his hands caught her and pulled her back.
“Usually when couples settle a misunderstanding there is something they do to show they are no longer mad at each other,” he said with a smile.
“What is that?” she asked.
The look on his face had told her everything she needed to know about what he was saying but it would be great fun teasing him about it.
“You know what they do”
“I do not”
“You have even been in a relationship before,” he replied pulling her closer. His hand was firm on her waist as it danced lightly. She felt the sensation deep in her skin. Surprisingly it penetrated the dress separating his finger tips from her bare body.
“You do” he whispered as his lips found hers. Up until now kissing his had been a fantasy she occasionally had. Even when they had agreed to be a real couple, being with him was like a dream to her and she was often told that he did want her.
She kissed him back, her hands roamed upwards, and clutched a size full of his shirt in her hand. He pulled her up with his hands she curled her legs over his waist. The time her hands roamed his head.
“I love you”
