A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 37 Holly’s Warning

“Dada!” As the sound of high heels echoed, Holly appeared with an angry face.

“Ranita!” Holly stared at her menacingly and kicked off her high heels, cursing, “I’ve seen it all today!”

“Do you have no shame? Just translate it and you have to get involved with my brother! Are you that low, that you have to steal other people’s things?”

Holly rushed over after receiving Anna’s call. Her purpose was certainly to make trouble for Ranita! But Brendon was there, talking business all the time. Holly couldn’t find a way to contribute.

She was so mad at Ranita!

“Holly… watch your words! The conversation between Brendon and I is normal! Don’t think everyone is as dirty-minded as you are.”

“Whoever has a dirty mind knows best!” Holly sneered disdainfully. “You can see it clearly too. You know what kind of person you are!”

Ranita was speechless.Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.

She really didn’t want to argue with Holly anymore. After all, no matter what she said, Holly could always twist it around and make herself right! Ranita’s back hurt from carrying her shoes for so long; she had talked non-stop along the way and now didn’t even want to waste a drop of saliva.

As Ranita bent down to pick up her shoes, she suddenly felt a push from behind. Losing her balance completely, she crashed into the trash can with a loud bang.

Afraid of hurting her stomach in case she fell on it directly on the ground, Ranita used her hand as support but instantly felt intense pain in her wrist due to compression!

“Ranita, I warn you – stay away from my brother! If I see you getting close again next time, I’ll just flush your head down the toilet!”

After cursing at Ranita arrogantly, Holly pushed open the door and left.

Sitting on the ground, Ranita held onto her sore wrist for quite some time before finally recovering. She also felt uncomfortable in the stomach area. Was something wrong?

Dylan had mentioned that babies less than three months old were most prone to problems…

Ranita didn’t dare to move. Thankfully, after resting for a while, the discomfort in her stomach subsided and she breathed a sigh of relief. She checked herself over and found that besides her wrist, her knee was also slightly scraped. Her fair skin made the redness stand out even more.

Suddenly, Brendon called her. “Where are you?” he asked.

“I’m on my way back!” Ranita hastily hung up the phone and tried to stand up with support from the wall. But when she went to pick up her shoes, she realized that Holly had broken off one of the heels!

This was really adding insult to injury! How could she wear them now? Ranita huffed in frustration as she blew away some stray hair from her forehead and noticed that anger had tinted her cheeks pink.

With a loud “clang,” Ranita knocked off the heel of her other shoe too. Although it wasn’t very comfortable, at least it looked somewhat harmonious now. She wetted a handkerchief again and cleaned up the wound on her knee before tidying herself up a bit and slowly walking out of the restroom.

As soon as she opened the door though, Ranita froze in surprise – Chris? What was he doing here?

“Long time no see? What a coincidence,” Chris said with what could be considered as mild smile upon seeing Ranita, “Are you accompanying Brendon?”

“Mm-hmm.” Nodding slightly, Ranita replied, “Receiving guests.”

“I bought an ink painting from an auction house earlier which I plan to give my grandfather as his birthday gift,” Chris paused for a moment before noticing something on Ranita’s knee, “What happened? Did you get into a fight?”

Ranita didn’t expect Chris would joke around like this; chuckling softly in response, “My heel broke off accidentally while I was walking.”

“That’s too careless!” As he spoke these words, Chris suddenly pulled out Mickey Mouse cartoon patterned band-aid from his wallet while squatting down beside Ranita saying, “My little cousin put this inside my wallet yesterday but I never thought I’d use it so soon.”
