Chapter 20 Proof of Identity
Chapter 20 Proof of Identity
My father rushed in raising his hand to hit me. When Clara immediately opened her arms and held me
back and said.
“Who are you?!!! Why do you want to hit him?!!”
“Who Am I?
Ask this bastard if he recognizes his father!”
My father pointed at me and intended to tear me apart on the spot.
“Matteo, he ......”
Clara turned to me with some fear.
“Yes, they're my families.”
With my head bowed, I didn’t expect Carrie was so capable to have invited my family from the
guardhouse.
But Clara grabbed my father's arm and said.
“Uncle, good to have you here. They slander Matteo, saying he is a prisoner. Say something for him.
You are his father, you know he is not.”
My father shrugged her off and said with a grunt.
“Son of a bitch, you didn't expect me to get out so soon, right?! Good, you've been out for not even two
days, and you stole from others. I will give you a lesson!”
When I heard that, I could hardly even breathe. This is my father, why could he be so mean to me?
“Cut the crap, what the hell is going on?!”
Director Lau stared at us with a stern face.
“He was a robber and had been in prison for five years. He had just finished his sentence the day
before yesterday.”
My father narrowed his eyes and looked like he was going to put me to death.
“Sir, what has he committed? Five years is not a short sentence, is it?”
Jim, who was on the ground, instantly came to life. He narrowed his eyes and asked with an creepy
smile.
My father snorted again. This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
“He was young and uneducated. At the age of 18, he robbed someone and cause the person to be
seriously injured!”
At that moment, Clara was fixed, with her body swayed gently. She was about to fall over.
Immediately afterwards, she turned her head bit by bit, looked at me and asked
“You tell me it's not true, You're not a robber. You've never committed a crime. Tell the truth!!!”
Before I could utter a retort, my brother leaned over to my ear and said, with unmistakable creepiness.
“Dozens of families in our village have been bought over by Miss Shaw, so no one can testify for you.
You are screwed!”
My brother's words like a nightmare came to my ears with such solidity!
“Why are you doing this to me? What did I do wrong?”
Gritting my teeth, I glared at them with indignation.
“Because you're a little devil, and our family hasn't had a day of luck since you were born!”
My father looked at me with a scowl on his face and threw all the guilt on me.
I pursed my lips and shook my head.
“Good luck comes with hard work. You drink every day and are lazy. Have you ever worked hard like
other people's fathers? What else are you capable of besides beating me up?!”
He instantly gritted his teeth and clenched his fist hard and said.
“Son of a bitch, I don't need you to teach me! You are robber and now you cheated others when you
were just out of prison. I don’t have a son like you!”
Hearing this, Clara's rosy cheeks instantly paled a lot. She turned her head and looked at me
reluctantly.
“Matteo, go away. I can’t keep a robber in my company.”
“I'm not!”
Gritting my teeth, I argued.
“You are not?”
With a sudden laugh, my father pointed at me and said grimly.
“Guys, he's my son and no one knows him better than I do!
His real name is “Jemima Chan” and he had been in DG Prison for some years. If you don't believe
me, you can go to the prison and check his information.”
“You are a robber and suddenly came to Clara. What exactly is your purpose?”
Director Lau stared at me, questioning me like a prisoner on trial.
“I said I'm not. Jemima Chan is my brother!”
I argued aloud.
Director Lau's brow knitted.
“Prove it.”
I sadly walked over to the desk, took the information out of my bag and said.
“My identity documents and my academic certificates are here.”
Is this enough?”
My Brother shouted with a loud voice.
“He's a thief!
He stole it from me. I'm Matteo Chan!”
Followed closely by my father,
“I'm his father, I know well who is Matteo Chan.
He is Jemima Chan, a robber!”
The entire conference room was instantly abuzz at this statement.
“Right, how can a father mistake his son?”
“How can a father slander his own son?”
“He must be a robber. Being a father, he has great justice!”
Closing my eyes, I smiled again. Yes, How could a father slander his own son?
But my father did it. He was afraid of retribution for all the years of torture he had inflicted on me, so he
wanted to send me to death!
Touching up my ID card on the table, I looked at my father, a legal illiterate, with sorrow and said.
“Dad, have you made enough noise?
Fingerprint verification was required for IDs and the entrance exam!
My fingerprints have long been stowed away in the police station and the teaching system.”
“It is easy to identify a person with an ID card.”
The police officer Director Lau brought with him stepped forward and said.
“Thank you!”
I nodded at the police officer and looked at my father again and said.
“I've told you before, this is a society governed by the rule of law, everything has to be based on
evidence! It is not up to you who Matteo Chan is, it's only up to the police.”
I was cheated to prison by my parents. Even they went to prison and would only found out it was my
brother. My identity was a college student as my brother studied in there, so as long as I didn't admit it,
no one knew I'd been in prison.
The police approached me with a suspicious frown, took the seal clay on my hand, took several
fingerprints and then left the office.
I leaned over my desk and looked at Clara in silence. She was looking at me too, but with that look of
fear.
A few minutes later, Director Lau's phone rang. With a nod and a slight sigh of relief, he gave me an
awkward smile and said.
“Matteo, I'm sorry, we misunderstood you. The one in prison was Jemima Chan, and you indeed are
Matteo Chan.”
At these words, the whole room was in an uproar again. Clara ran towards me and took me directly into
her arms, “I don’t think you are robber. You were timid boy, how could you be a criminal?!”
