Chapter 241
Estrella’s hand shot up to cover his mouth, and with an unexpected shove, she pushed him

“Let’s get one thing straight, I’m not entertaining the thought of getting back together,” Estrella declared, standing up to nonchalantly slip into her coat. “As for the fire, I’ll keep digging until I hit the truth.” It was so ironic. She had never expected she would become the suspect.
The evidence in Jason’s possession was likely mirrored by what Holly had. So, even if she hadn’t struck a deal with Serene this time, the proverbial storm was bound to break sooner or later. The silver lining? Estrella held the reins, allowing her to investigate first.
Jason, seeing Estrella dressing up, grabbed her arm, “Where do you think you’re going in the dead of night?”
Estrella laughed helplessly, “Home, of course.”
At her response, Jason pulled her into his arms with a bit more force, “Still mad? You’re not planning on giving me even a sliver of a chance?”
Estrella looked up at him, “Jason, don’t-”
Her words were cut short as Jason leaned in and captured her lips in a sudden kiss. As her lips were seized unexpectedly, Estrella was about to erupt in anger when Jason clasped her wrists and pried her
lips apart, slipping his tender tongue into her mouth.
“Mmm…” With her hands held aloft by Jason, Estrella let out a muffled moan. It was a moan laden with unintended intimacy.
Her eyes, not fully closed, watched him kiss her with an intensity as if he were engage some profound act of gravity. His actions made it seem like he wasn’t the one who ha just been acting cute with her.
As their lips and tongues entwined, Estrella’s struggles weakened, her clenched fists gradually relaxed and lost their strength. At this age, controlling one’s physical reactions was becoming a challenge.
Her eyes slowly closed, savoring Jason’s tenderness, until his hand, moving from her waist to her chest, prompted Estrella to open her eyes. She pushed his hand away and then pushed him back a bit, saying, “Getting a bit ahead of ourselves, aren’t we?”
Jason clutched his chest and staggered back, his eyes a picture of wounded innocence, “You really have no sympathy for me, do you?”
Estrella couldn’t be bothered with him. She straightened her disheveled clothing, “I’m

heading back. I’ll contact you if I find any leads.”
As much as they had to discuss other matters, the fire was a topic they couldn’t ignore, especially since he was directly involved.
Jason protested, “And who’ll take care of me if you leave?”
Estrella chuckled, “You were about to force yourself on me, and you’re asking for care?”
Jason felt speechless. When had he ever attempted such a thing? If he truly wanted to force her, she wouldn’t have had a chance to push him away.
Watching Estrella with a complex expression, Jason pleaded, “Estrella, I really do feel unwell. Stay with me for a bit.”
Estrella was unmoved, “Your discomfort isn’t something I can remedy. I’m not a doctor.”
Jason tried a different tactic, “Kissing you seems to help.”
In truth, he was just not satiated, feeling ill at ease in his heart.
Jason’s earnest nonsense was met with Estrella tossing her shoe at him. Three years had passed, and he had become even more shameless.
From about a meter away, Jason caught the flying shoe with ease. Seeing this, Estrella approached with a stern face and snatched her shoe back. Seizing the moment, Jason wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his chin on her shoulder. It had been his favorite since her middle school days. He would stand there, chin on the shoulder of Estrella, who was a head shorter than him, and either share tidbits about his day or simply rest in silence. Back then, a teenage Estrella was hardly immune to Jason’s allure,
Years passed, and even though they had once fought, her feelings were more of sorrow than anger. The past mattered, but marriage had slowly eroded those memories.
Glancing sideways at Jason, Estrella asked, “How long are you going to keep this up, Jason?”
He tightened his embrace, nuzzling her neck, “For a lifetime.”
Estrella laughed, poking his forehead, “Dream on and move aside.” She had wanted forever before, but he had left her alone, waiting.
After being poked away, Jason quickly pulled her back in, his lips teasing her face as he murmured, “Babe, I admit my faults. Can’t you give me another chance?”
Before Estrella could respond, Jason’s wandering hands traced her back, her waist, and then… Nibbling on her ear, he exhaled hot breath and said, “Estrella, we haven’t seen each other in three years. Don’t you miss it at all? We’re in sync. We know each other’s desires.”
Estrella’s inner scorn raced like a stampede. Since her outburst yesterday morning, revealing the fire incident, Jason’s mind had been preoccupied with nothing but their past
sex life, disregarding the case entirely.
With a wry’smile, she retorted, “I don’t miss it. These past three years, I’ve got lots of men, and their skills all surpassed yours.”
Jason froze. His heart pierced by her words, his gaze at Estrella turned icy.
He didn’t believe a word she said, but he still felt hurt by the way she dismissed his skills, especially when his skills were already good enough and the duration was sufficient. He remembered exactly how much she had enjoyed their past lovemaking.
His left arm held her close, his right hand caressed her side, and he declared, “Estrella, it seems I need to jog your memory properly.” With that, he drew her in tightly, their bodies pressed against each other.
Estrella looked up, “You get hard so fast?”
Jason ignored the tease, cupping her chin and leaning in for another kiss. Today, he was determined to make Estrella beg for mercy.
Jason’s kiss was assertive, almost domineering, leaving Estrella’s lips aching. Since their passionate encounter the day before, she had felt the soreness – the result of a kiss that lingered too long and fervent, leaving her lips swollen and even peeling slightly.
