Will You Marry Me, Again

Chapter 270

Chapter 270 Are You Swindling Me? Cedric sneered and asked, “What's the matter? Are you trying to get paid from both sides?” “| knew you doted on Maia, but she insisted on paying me. So, | immediately tailored another dress and gave it to her as a gift.

“What made you think I’d dare to play tricks on you? | might be a hothead but | know better than to get on the bad side of the both of you!”

“It's a given. It’s your honor that Maia wears your gown.

Victoria was speechless. She cleared her throat several times, “You're right, Cedric. You saved my life and you’re my boss. Whatever you say goes!”

“From here on out, you'll be in charge of her gowns.” “Gotcha, Cedric.”

“Put it on my tab.”ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

“Alright! Loud and clear! Consider it done!” Victoria said.

Then, Cedric hung up the phone. She looked at the phone and said, “I envy you, Maia. Cedric is so cold to everyone. You're the only person in his heart. He cares about you in ways that astonish people around him.” She put her phone back into her pocket.

Victoria had immense respect to Cedric and it was not just because of his standing in the prestigious families. It was not even because of the connections between the Smiths and the

Larkins.

What mattered most to her was that he saved her life in the past and sponsored her studio! If it had not been for Cedric, people in her family would have sent someone to snatch her back home. She owed her freedom to him!

It was not like she did not have a thing for Cedric. Girls are always going to fall for the man who saved them.

Furthermore, she was lost and alone. Cedric was the thread of hope to her back then. She wanted to be with him.

She asked him why he saved her, but all she got for an answer was, “You're useful to me.” That had been the end of her wishful thinking.

After that, she knew Cedric better and understood that there was no place for humane emotions in this heartless man’s life. He harbored no sympathy for her. He was the most successful businessman, after all. He saved her because she was useful to her. Nothing more.

Victoria knew her place. She did not throw herself at him. She lowered her gaze and looked at 1/3

when you

made a mess of my parents‘ press conference.

“That was when | understood why Cedric fell head over heels for you. We're both hotheads,

but you’re way more badass than | ever will be. You have the courage to confront your adversaries and take them out one by one. The only thing | did, however, was to hide out

here.” Victoria smiled, “Forget about Cedric. | liked you a lot too.”

With that, she sent a message to Maia, “You and Hope have got to buy me a meal when The Horizon Awards are done. | have a hunch that both of you are going to be the stars of the show that night. | want credit for that!”

In the car, Maia read Victoria's message and replied, “Okay. You pick the restaurant.” It was a must to treat her to a meal, Maia thought.

Victoria had not just given her the dress, but also the painting! Maia had never expected to bump into the piece of evidence she had sought for so long in a boutique, of all places!

She needed to express her gratitude to Victoria. That was a given.

Maia got out of the car when they arrived at Cloud Nine Residences. She peered at Hope, who was driving, and said, “Stay safe. Be wary of the paparazzi.”

Hope nodded. “Don’t worry about me, Maia. Hurry up and go home.”

“Okay.”

Maia nodded and waved at her, holding the painting with her free hand.

i

Hope waved back and said merrily, “Goodbye.” Then, she drove off to the distance.

Maia called the elevator and headed in. Just as she walked to the lobby, her phone rang. She frowned when she saw the caller.

“Rita.” She said her name with rage.

The painting alone was not strong enough proof that Rita did what she did. So, she needed to stay calm.

Maia answered the phone and heard an unpleasant voice, “Hello? I’ve tried calling you for ages, Maia. Why didn’t you answer the phone until now? Don’t you know I’m your mother-in- law? You have a duty to pick up my call at once. Got it?”

How absurd, Maia thought. Rita was as overbearing as always.

Rita had no idea that Maia merely pretended to lose her memories, nor did she know that Maia had ‘recovered’ them. It would be no fun if Maia told her about it now. She was going to have some fun with her first!

“What do you want?” Maia asked, coldly. Rita yelled furiously when she heard her disrespectful tone. “Maia, you dumb bitch. Is that how you talk to your mother-in-law?” She was downright repulsive, as before!

Maia composed herself and faked a respectful tone. “Is there anything | can help you with, Rita? The signal here isn’t exactly strong. You must have misheard me.”

‘t

“Remember who you are, Maia. I’m Cedric’s mother. Don’t you love him? If you love Cedric, then you must pay me the respect | deserve. After all, | gave life to him!”

“Exactly. You are so right.” Maia went along with her, but she wore a cold expression. Traces of mockery and sarcasm were visible on her face. Her grip on the painting tightened. She hated Rita to the core!

“I'm going to Beverley Manor. You’re coming with me!” Beverley Manor?

All of a sudden, Maia was worried about Hans‘ health. He had protected her for a long time and threw a wrench into Rita’s plans many times. Rita must have hated him for that.

Ever since he had been discharged from the hospital, his memories were not what they used to be. To make matters worse, he was very vulnerable to stress. Rita must have cooked up something unpleasant for this visit!

“Understood. Where should | wait for you?”

“Don't you live at the Cloud Nine Residences? Wait for me at the entrance. Don’t keep me waiting. In fact, | want you to go there and wait for me now! | want to see you when I’m there! It’s rude to make your mother-in-law wait for you!”

Rita was so arrogant. The intimidation in her tone was unbearable.
