Chapter 30 The Unexpected
Chapter 30 The Unexpected
Susan was rising in fame and had hence gotten used to being constantly praised by those around her.
She couldn’t contain her dissatisfaction when Amber didn’t take her seriously. However, when even
John the manager followed suit, she didn’t think she could bear it anymore.
Upon Liam’s return, a huge crowd cheered, wanting to raise a toast for her and Liam. The smile
returned to Susan’s face as she raised her wine glass to an executive standing next to Amber. She
laughingly said, "Oh, please don’t trouble yourself to come over. It’s better that I head over to have a
drink with you!"
Susan walked over with her glass of wine in hand. As she approached Amber who was sitting next to
this executive, she suddenly stumbled. Her whole body lurched towards Amber, causing the glass of
red wine to spill all over Amber’s hair! Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.
Amber had not seen this coming as she was focused on her cell phone. She was shocked when the
glass of wine spilled all over her. To make matters worse, the wine had trickled down her hair and into
her eyes, causing them to burn. Tears rolled down her face uncontrollably.
"How did that happen?" Liam was the first to react amongst the crowd.
He grabbed a napkin from the table and rushed to Amber’s side. While helping Amber wipe her hair, he
looked at Susan and said coldly, "If you can't even walk properly, I don't think you should even be
acting."
This sole sentence from Liam caused Susan’s expression to change drastically. The sense of triumph
in her eyes instantly turned into despair and defeat.
Everyone’s facial expression grew dull as well. They understood perfectly what Liam meant by this.
Such words from Liam simply meant that Susan's acting career was over. With Liam's connections and
financial ability, whoever he wanted to ban was basically dead meat.
Susan stared at Liam, eyes wide in disbelief as she asked, "Mr. Croft, I just accidentally spilled some
wine and now you...you are going to ban me because of this female student?"
Susan was not convinced! Although she had yet to undergo the "wine-sipping" ceremony with Mr. Croft,
he had been quite friendly to her. It was rumored that Liam was normally Jack Frost when he interacted
with women—but he had chatted with her for quite some time just now! She had even felt that he had
purposefully tried to get close to her a couple of times.
How did a mere glass of wine manage to take a turn for the worse?
She found it unbelievable that Liam had actually chosen to ban her just because of this poor female
university student!
Liam paid no attention to Susan but concentrated on wiping Amber's hair. When the napkin was fully
drenched, he unreservedly took off his tie and carefully helped Amber wipe her eyes.
Amber's tears were flowing to the point that she could not open her eyes at all. She had no idea what
Susan and Liam were arguing about. The only thought that was going through her mind was how
embarrassing this whole thing was.
She wondered how she had ended up in this situation—having a glass of wine being poured on her in
public, her hair drenched, and her face covered in tears. How did she, Amber Currie, find herself in this
mess?
Everyone was stunned as they watched Liam wiped Amber's eyes with his expensive necktie. His
actions, as gentle as ever; his gaze, as focused as ever.
Meanwhile, Susan stood beside him, her face written with shock and a sense of being wronged.
Truly, this was an unexpected situation!
Liam, known to be a germaphobe, had the reputation of being cold and distanced towards others. The
temperature at an event would immediately plummet to a freezing point if he was present. How
shocking it was that he now willingly wiped the tears of this female student with his necktie!
Susan, still unconvinced and standing beside Amber, chokingly asked in disbelief, "Mr. Croft, are you
really going to ban me because of this woman?"
She pointed at Amber with her slender index finger and looked contemptuously at the mess Amber
was.
Liam turned his head slowly and looked at Susan condescendingly. In a voice that had not the slightest
hint of warmth, he replied, "Scram!"
