The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 85

Chapter 85

The next day at work, Brooklyn texted Cordelia specifically, saying she had something to talk about.

"What's up?" At noon, Cordelia and Brooklyn were eating Mexican chili stir-fried shrimp outside.

The Mexican food joint was tiny and tucked in a corner of towering buildings, but it was always packed.

Cordelia and Brooklyn could only munch in a corner. This time, Cordelia ordered the super spicy meal.

It was so hot that it turned her lips red.

"I went to submit some documents to our director today. She was on a phone call and said that Wyatt

was coming back tomorrow. Wyatt will take charge directly." Brooklyn continued. "Aren't you interested

in joining the Audit Department? I think you can seize this opportunity."

Cordelia frowned. "No-go. The HR department sent my resume back; apparently I don't meet their

requirements, so it's useless for me to submit it again. I even asked Ronan for help, but he refused."

"Keep it down; it's Mr. Evans in public, not Ronan. Be careful not to be overheard." Brooklyn looked Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.

around. "Here's what I'm thinking. Even though HR rejected your resume, you could translate it into

German and give it directly to Wyatt. Who knows? You might just get lucky and get picked by Wyatt."

Cordelia figured that going straight to the boss was more effective than going through subordinates.

Brooklyn did not know that Ronan had already translated Cordelia's resume. Cordelia was planning to

print out several copies and give them to Wyatt as soon as he arrived.

Now that she had hope, Cordelia was thrilled and returned to the company joyfully with Brooklyn.

Just as they entered the lobby, they saw Ronan coming out of the elevator.

He was probably going for lunch.

"Hello, Mr. Evans."

"Hello, Mr. Evans."

Cordelia and Brooklyn greeted Ronan at the same time.

Ronan walked briskly; he just glanced at Cordelia and frowned.

"You've been eating spicy food again!" He said.

After that, he walked away.

Cordelia wanted to say something, but he had already left, so she didn't.

"What did he say?" Brooklyn asked Cordelia. "Does he mind you eating spicy food?"

Brooklyn seemed shocked.

"Yes."

"He even cares about what you eat? He's really too controlling. He's not just the president; he's more

like your husband now." Brooklyn shook her head in resignation. "Just keep treating us singles like

this."

"Don't you have Edwin?" Cordelia joked, but she was thinking about the expression on Ronan's face

just now. He was concerned about her. Yes, he was indeed concerned about her.

"Us? We have no relationship." Brooklyn knew that Edwin was somewhat fond of Cordelia; if Cordelia

was not already married, he would have pursued her long ago.

Cordelia hung her head, feeling both sweet and somewhat melancholic in her heart.

She knew that this fleeting sweetness might soon disappear.

Ronan walked to the lobby door, and just before he stepped out, he heard two people mocking Cordelia

from outside. "She is Mr. Evans' wife; it's only natural for her to call him by his name. We can't; we can

only call him Mr. Evans."

Then the two girls who were chatting walked into the lobby and ran into Ronan.

They immediately became so nervous that they shook all over; they should have kept their mouths

shut. How unlucky they were to have been overheard by Ronan.

They greeted Ronan and then hurried towards the elevator.

Ronan walked on, wondering where Cordelia had openly called his name, allowing others to hear.

Usually, she called him Mr. Evans, and occasionally at home, she would call him hubby. He had never

heard her call him by his name.

Cordelia returned to her office, removed the “Ethan” from behind the German resume, and then printed

it out. She had two copies in each language.

She was planning to apply for a transfer to the Audit Department. It was an internal transfer, so

Cordelia didn't need to be discreet about printing her resume.

The moment the resume came out of the printer, Jordan walked in from outside and saw Cordelia

printing her resume.

"Cordelia, are you printing your resume?" Jordan asked with a smile on his face.

Ever since he found out about Cordelia's identity, Jordan had always had a smile on his face when

dealing with her.

"Yes, I'm thinking of applying for the Audit Department." Cordelia thought moving to the Audit

Department would be an honor for the Finance Department, and Jordan should be happy about it.

"I see. Well, continue with your printing." Jordan responded, and he went back to his office.

He couldn’t let Cordelia leave. No way! Absolutely not!

Once Cordelia went to the Audit Department, there would be no benefits for him.
