Chapter 105

“Mom, did you want me to have a heart attack?” Alpha Nick asked after pushing the door open without
knocking. He was worried sick about Sheridan leaving him again in any way when his mother was the one who
snatched her from his arms. It felt like he had run a marathon in search of her.
Athena, who was calmly reading a book, was annoyed by the intrusion, unfazed by any worry in Alpha Nick’s tone. “Relax. She’s sleeping.”
Alpha Nick sauntered over to the woman on the bed, sleeping peacefully as if she had no care about the ongoings in and around the pack.
That was unlike Sheridan, and the fact that she was snatched from his arms made it even more confusing.
“How is it possible? What did you do to her, and where is Dad?” He began to move strands of hair from Sheridan’s face to the back of her ears, careful enough not to wake her. “I have to take her to my room.”
“I did nothing to her, and your father should also be among the people we left behind. Sheridan is special, and I can’t allow anything to happen to her when she’s in this pack.”
Dropping the book on the nightstand, she explained further. “I used the bracelet she gave me. I exchanged the energy when I gave her the necklace.”
Alpha Nick sighed, knowing that he had to keep all that his mother was saying a secret. When he was younger, she had protected him with these powers, but he could never inherit them. As his mother would say, he was not the chosen one.
Right now, his concern was not the charm but rather the woman on the bed. “So why is she sleeping in the midst of chaos?”
Athena gazed lovingly at Sheridan before she began to explain it slowly. “I could not let her know that I was saving her from something dangerous. You have to find Charlotte and make sure she’s dead,” Athena said seriously, and Alpha Nick was slightly confused.
He indeed wanted to erase every trace of Charlotte, but for it to be mentioned by his mother meant there was more to Charlotte than he ever knew.
“I don’t care about Charlotte. I will take Sheridan with me.”
Athena had a displeased look. “You don’t understand. Charlotte has a cursed wolf. She can cause you trouble,
but knowing she can’t defeat you, her target would be Sheridan.”
Alpha Nick took a deep breath. Never would he allow any harm to come close to Sheridan or Daisy. Then again, she had mentioned Daisy’s life being in danger and the reason for her return to take Daisy into the safety of her pack.
“So, what do I do? Where do I find her?” It would not be hard for him to end Charlotte, but the problem was if he would be able to find her and her cursed wolf.
“Good question. You can’t find her, but she will first try to find a place to settle before she tries to take revenge.” Athena was composed. It was almost as if she could see into the future. Alpha Nick did not doubt her, knowing her abilities since he was a child.
The only problem he had with her before was concerning Sheridan when Athena insisted that Alpha Nick should not let her go. It seemed that Athena was always right about everything, especially when she said that Alpha Nick would regret it.
“How long do we have?”
Alpha Nick was eager to end this menace called Charlotte as soon as possible, but this time, Athena did not have a specific answer for him.
“I don’t know. It can take months, but we can protect the pack with a lot of charcoal. Her wolf is repelled by charcoal.”
Alpha Nick wanted to ask about how Athena knew about Charlotte’s wolf, but there was too much to handle at the moment. He hoped she hadn’t gotten far so they could trap her with the charcoal before it was too late.
Then again, they would have to burn a lot of trees to get enough charcoal to cover the pack since it had been peaceful without recent attacks.
“Thanks, Mom, take care of Sherry. I will sort this out and make sure that I mark her,” he said with a darkened gaze. He was so eager to mark her after Charlotte’s stoning, but who knew that this was going to happen?
Athena smiled knowingly. “Yes. That is very important. It would make her stronger, and she would be able to defeat Charlotte.”
Alpha Nick did not like the idea of Sheridan battling Charlotte. It was his mess, and he was determined to handle
it alone. “Charlotte is my problem. I would kill her myself.”
Athena disagreed. “No. Sheridan can stand against her after you mark her. In case you don’t know, the two women did not appear in your life by coincidence. Leave now. The pack needs you,” Athena finally said after seeing the confusion on Alpha Nick’s face.
Alpha Nick could not let matters rest. “Mom, why are you talking like this? There is a lot I need to know, and why did you hide it for so long? This isn’t just about your charms, right? How come you know so much?”
Athena had a small smile on her face. Her sickness was the price she had to pay for what she had until she could give it to the right person. If she began to explain now, there would just be too much chaos.
“Your pack and her brother’s need answers. Use all the help you can gather. Nick, we shall have this talk again but not now. If Sheridan wakes up now, she would insist on going with you, and you won’t be able to stop her.”
Alpha Nick did not see a problem with that. “If she is up to it, it would even be better.” All he wanted, was his
Luna by his side.
“No, Nick, you have to mark her first.”
“But we have a child together already,” Alpha Nick revealed. If the mark was to bond them, he just wanted Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
Athena to know that they had a different bond.
To his amazement, Athena’s eyes lit up like that of a little girl. “Why did you not tell me? Is it a girl?”
“I just found out yesterday, but how could you be so accurate in your guessing?”
Alpha Nick did not get a response but rather, his mother stood up and hugged him. “Nick, if you had marked Charlotte even by accident, you would have never had Sheridan. They were both your mates from the onset. I
want to see my grandchild.”
No one knew that Athena being weak all the time was because of her wolf. It had special powers Athena could never enjoy. Only her grandchild would be able to do so.
“Mom. Let’s talk about it tomorrow. I have to go now.”
As soon as his hands touched the doorknob, that voice, that warmed his heart so much was heard. “Nick, where
are you going?” Sheridan sat on the bed with a confused expression, massaging her temple from a terrible
headache.
