Chapter 20
Bending I rest my palms over my knees panting, taking deep breaths in and out. Closing my eyes I take a deep breath in and let it out relaxing myself trying cool myself down as I’m soaked in sweat.
Running around the imperial school three time is not easy because it’s so huge. It’s my first time being punished for losing a game. Half of my break is gone in running and being tired, I’m glad that the break is long enough to at least have a short nap to calm myself down as the scene which happened in the woods ten years ago plays in my mind when I run fast.
Mom says that I’ve been traumatized since that incident but I always tell her that I’m fine and I’ve forgotten about it but I never did. The way WanKe held me while running always flashes in my mind when I run and it makes me breathless so I prefer running slow by keeping my mind calm trying not to take the picture of Wanke covered up with blood.
“How could you be so bad in running?,” Moving my eyes away from the ground to my right to see Feng Lei leaning against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest.
Straightening my position I let out a loud sigh “So what? Many people have their own drawbacks and mine is running, it’s not a big deal,” I shove off placing my right palm on the wall I give my weight to my arm facing him ” It’s not that I’m slow in running it’s just that others are faster than me,” plastering a smile I look at him with raised eyebrows waiting to see if he is convinced but his expression is like what-on-earth-are-you-trying-to-convey.
“Urghh,” I let out a cry as I step forward and place my forehead on the surface of the wall his eyes digging into me “This is so embarrassing,” I scot down running my hands through my hair pulling it out by staring at my feet.
“It’s okay WanKe, just a race,” I whisper to myself trying to comfort my ego.
“KeKe,” the call of Henyu gets into my ears which makes me to blow up, getting up in a flash I pull his ear twisting his earlobe “ow ow ow,” he screams lowly.
“What did you bet on me?,” I growl twisting his ear making him hiss in pain.
“And it’s with ChengLi,” I grit my teeth angrily, bending his knees he lowers his height and looks up at me with a puppy face with his palm around my wrist.
“Speaking of the devil,” letting him free I step back seeing ChengLi walking towards is with his two minions. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
“Woah, we got a tortoise here,” ChengLi laughs fixing his eyes on me.
“You remember the bet?,” he questions passing a glance at HenYu “Poor boy spoke highly of you,” he chuckles.
“What was the deal?,”
“Walking around the school naked tonight,” Sheng Zi informs which makes my eyes go wide.
Seriously, he is really dumb to make a bet like that.
“You know WanKe,” ChengLi steps forward grabbing my attention “There is a rumour about a ghost walking around at night and if ,” he faces HenYu and the sides of his lips twitches up to a wicked smile “If someone sees him he will be popular the next morning.”
I slap on the back of Henyu’s head when he cracks a nervous smile “Why didn’t you tell me that?,” I scowl, I would have tried my best if I’ve known beforehand.
“Would it help if he tells?,” that particular statement really took me off guard especially the speaker, I turn around and face Feng Lei who is staying in the same posture. I glare at him playing with my tongue by pushing it against my inner cheek.
“WanKe,” I look away hearing my name called by one of our classmate “Two people are waiting for you outside,” he informs pointing at the gate and leaves.
Ignoring the jerks around me I walk to the gate, I wave when I see brother Wales and he waves back at me. I stop in my tracks when I see Xiang waiting outside under the shade avoiding the sun I mime her I’ll be back when she steps forward seeing me.
“What’s up?,” I ask leaning forward, he pulls me by my arm and takes me to a corner pulling out a folded paper from his pocket, he hands it to me.
Looking at him with furrowed eyebrows I curiously unfold the paper my lips parts seeing what’s on it. A portrait of me with my face half covered with black.
“Where did you get it?,”
“It’s all over the place also in the crossing gates of states,” he speaks anxiously.
The edges of the paper crushes when my grip tightens, I look down at my drawn figure with the word criminal on top.
It’s the only work of JinagYi as he saw me clearly that night.
“It’s JiangYi,” I almost tell it to myself.
“I’ve been looking over the butcher and he seems to be suspicious, I saw him acting around helpless fooling the migrants,”
“I’ve seen him always receiving money from JiangYi and he was the only one around the woods on that day,” I rub the back of my neck wearily letting out a sigh.
“Anyways, you better not go around at night, leave it for few days until I arrange someone to replace you and remove the posters,” he states looking at me in concern.
“Okay,”
“Be careful alright, let me know if something happens,” he takes the paper from me and walks away.
“Master Wan,” I turn around when I hear Xiang, I completely forgot that she has been waiting for me.
“Oh, sorry I forgot,”
“That’s okay,” she passes me a charming smile.
“Are you free right now?,”
“Yes, there is time for the next class,”
“Can we walk together?,” she asks biting her lower lip, her cheeks shows that she is beginning to blush.
Crap, is something gonna happen which is not suppose to happen.
Plastering a smile on my face I walk forward and she walks beside me, inserting my palms in the pocket I look to my left to see her eyes on me.
“What brings you here?,” I ask casually making myself feel comfortable.
“I want to tell you something,”
“What is it?,” I question instantly stopping in my tracks by the bridge.
“I’ve heard more about you from XuXu,” she smiles slightly her face showing that she is shy and nervous.
“So?,” I stand in front of the railings resting my hands on the rail of the bridge I keep my gaze low watching the river flow.
“I’ve been watching over you always when you visit the house of Jin,” she steps forward “I’ve followed you sometimes too,” she utters her voice coming out low.
Standing straight I face her hoping to hear the sentence ‘I was just joking’ but her countenance never seemed like she is joking. She lowers her gaze biting her lower lip nervously her cheeks heating up with a shade of pink. Rubbing the back of my neck I look up and then back at her.
“Will you go out with me,”
