Chapter 92: Those Without Mothers Are Wild Children

Chapter 92: Those Without Mothers Are Wild Children

Hayden was a bundle of nerves as she flew at full speed to the kindergarten. It was almost the time when classes were about to end by the time she had arrived, hence numerous luxury vehicles were parked in front of the entrance with stewards and servants crowding the area. After she had finally managed to push her way through the crowd, Rita, the Headmistress of Blue Castle Bilingual Kindergarten whom was expecting her, immediately led her inside the kindergarten.

“How is Stella doing?”

“Dr Wilson had treated her so she’s fine now. We’re lucky that her symptoms were detected before it had gone into a full attack, so she was not under any shock. I’ve decided to call you as earlier she was not in a good condition, so we think you might be worried about her.”

After dashing at full speed to the infirmary, Hayden teared up the moment she laid her eyes on Stella as immense helplessness started to sprout inside of her. She was at a loss as to what to do in times like this. She could only stand beside her bed while calling out softly to her daughter, “Mommy’s here, Stella.” Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.

Stella’s complexion looked worn out as she lied on the bed, her usual bubbly demeanour was nowhere to be seen at this moment. Even though her forehead was covered in bruises, she still tried to put on a constrained smile.

“I’m fine, Mommy!”

Hayden clutched her little hand in a mindful manner, and she was trying hard not to say any harsh words to her. In the end, she could not help but to admonish her, “Did you forget your promise before attending school that you will be obedient and keep yourself out of trouble? Mommy is getting angry now.”

Stella felt slightly aggrieved as she muttered, “But Mommy, they started it first.”

Dr Wilson whom had treated Stella earlier walked in on their tête-à-tête at that moment and she asked, “Are you Stella’s mom?”

“Yes, I am.” Hayden turned around in haste.

Dr Wilson was a grey-haired old lady whom was wearing a gold-framed round spectacle and dressed in a doctor’s coat, and she had a very amiable disposition to her. Hayden hurriedly followed her out after she had beckoned to her to leave the room.

“Dr Wilson, is there anything wrong with Stella’s condition?”

“I have gone through her medical history that was sent over just now. Stella’s asthma is hereditary, and our usual approach is to prescribe medication to control this type of asthma condition. However, there is a risk of drug dependence if she were to take them for a long period which will subsequently harm her body. My suggestion to you is that you can try Chinese acupuncture.”

“Is it possible to treat her condition? We will definitely be willing to try if that is the case.”

“There’s no need to rush so take it easy. Just be mindful that the course of an acupuncture treatment is not short-term, and you cannot stop halfway once you have started. We can talk about the details another time as I believe you have to take good care of the matter that has happened today.”

Dr Wilson’s wise advice had taken Hayden back to Stella’s condition that she had almost forgotten earlier. Her asthma had not relapsed in a long while, and not only had she suffered from an asthma attack, her little face was crawled with bruises and scratches. It was certain that she had gotten into a fight with someone.

Hayden suddenly remembered Rita’s remark to drop by the office after she had set her mind at ease by visiting Stella. She swiftly thanked Dr Wilson and went back into the ward to probe into the context of the incident that had happened and hurriedly rushed to the office.

Rita’s office was occupied by a young mother whom was holding the hand of a boy with a badly beaten face, and her face was clouded with a ghastly expression.

As soon as Hayden stepped into the office, she could immediately hear raining condemnation and chastises that were unbearably dismissive coming from the young lady.

“What the hell is wrong with this school? Why did you admit all kinds of kids without filtering their quality? Could you bear the consequences if anything were to happen to Charlotte?”

Rita smiled obsequiously and replied in an ingratiating manner, “It happened for a reason, Madame. Please calm down first and I shall explain it to you.”

“What kind of reason is there…”

Hayden knocked on the door right at that moment and broke in on their argument.

Rita stood up in haste when she caught sight of her arrival, and she proceeded to introduce them to each other, “This is Charlotte and his mom, and she is Stella’s mom.”

Charlotte’s mother cast a glance at Hayden and asked in a contempt manner, “So you are Stella’s mom? Why have I never seen you before? Are you a local from Nanking?”

Hayden frowned as she was puzzled by the fact that she was interrogated on her background when the fight had happened between the kids. It did not make any sense to her.

Despite being thrown into a state of bewilderment, she nodded in response, “Yes, I am.”

Charlotte’s mother sneered, “You’re a local? I heard from Rita that you work as a hotel manager?”

Hayden nodded her head again as a reply.

“How can a mere hotel manager have the ability to send her kid to this school? The adult must have engaged in surreptitious affairs that were illicit, so of course the kid will be influenced and follow suit. Now I can see how demoralization runs in the family.”

Her shrill voice was extremely piercing to the ear as she spewed out spiteful accusations towards Hayden.

The bombardment of malicious allegation made Hayden’s eardrum buzzed as anger started to rise in her. She clenched her fists tightly and refuted, “I know Stella is at fault for beating up your kid, but you shouldn’t speak in such a manner, Charlotte’s mother. Why couldn’t I send my kid to this kindergarten? What is wrong with being a hotel manager?”

“Should I say it in a more explicit way so that you will understand? It’s obvious that only by partaking in those kinds of illicit affairs that young woman like you could afford something like this.” Charlotte’s mother jeered at her scornfully while looking down upon her.

Hayden’s expression darkened but she was reluctant to continue the dispute with her. She clenched her teeth angrily and uttered, “Please don’t lump everything together and let’s get straight to the point here. Just let me know how you wish to come to a settlement regarding the incident that had happened today. We will bear all the medical expenses incurred by your son including the compensation for any emotional trauma.”

“You want to give me money?” Charlotte’s mother snickered as if she had heard a ludicrous joke.

“Do you think our family is pressed for money? Let me be very clear with you, I demand an apology from you and your daughter regarding the fight that had happened today, and she is banned from this kindergarten from tomorrow onwards.”

Hayden’s expression blackened as she could not believe the unreasonable demands that she had just heard.

It was just a scuffle that had happened when the kids were frolicking around, moreover since it only happened under genuine extenuating circumstances, she should not go so far as to force Stella to leave the kindergarten. How could she act in such a callous and insensible manner?

“That’s impossible.” Hayden pulled herself together and continued with a darkened expression, “I don’t think this matter is grave enough to warrant Stella’s removal from here.”

“Impossible? Just you wait and see what I will do to make it possible if you refuse to do so. The scratches on my son’s face call for a serious interpretation of this issue. Or do you want to pay a visit to the police station with your daughter?”

She glared at Rita whom was at a loss beside her, a look of haughtiness displaying on her supercilious face.

“Since you are the Headmistress, I will leave this matter in your hands. If Charlotte is still able to see that little brat in the kindergarten tomorrow, Lewis Group will withdraw all our investments next year.”

Rita’s face turned ashen as she was stunned on the spot by her bull-headed request.

Hayden gritted her teeth in silent fury as she clenched both of her fists to the point that her knuckles were cracking in unison. She wished she could strike some sense into Charlotte’s mother’s head as her utter contempt for others and snobbish attitude had made her blood boil.

“ST Group will invest twice the amount that Lewis Group had invested this year for the building of the school infrastructure after they have pulled out.”

A towering shadow loomed over the entrance of the office as a deep and husky voice sounded from the silhouette, breaking off the deadlock between the women in the office.

Joseph strode towards them in a collected manner while holding Noah in his hand, and when he shot his glance at Charlotte’s mother, his eyes were full of coldness and condescension.

“I don’t think Lewis Group has such a substantial influence and power over Blue Castle Kindergarten yet, am I right, Mrs. Lewis?

Charlotte’s mother’s expression turned ghastly as soon as Joseph showed up in front of them.

“Why, why are you here, Mr. Beckham?”

“I was informed that my son had stirred up some trouble so I’m here to get a grasp of the context of the situation. He had misbehaved himself after all, so I should at least come down here to apologize in person.”

“Caused trouble?” Charlotte’s mother smiled in a servile manner as she flattered him further, “How could your son have possibly gotten himself in any trouble seeing that he is such an extremely well- mannered kid?”

Noah tilted his head upwards and gave her a ferocious glare as he went over to Hayden to snuggle up to her.

“Don’t tell me you are still oblivious to the reason that your son has received a beating after insulting someone else for such a long time, Mrs. Lewis?

Joseph gave her a cold shoulder as he continued, “Now tell me, who has taught him to tell Noah in his face that he is a wild child just because he does not have a mother?”
