Chapter 6: The Two Kids were Worried Sick of their Mother

Seeing Brooklyn, the housemaid scurried back to inform her. Mirabelle instantly looked happy. She quickly tidied up her dress and appearance, and welcomed him. “Brooklyn, are you feeling tired from today’s work? I’ve made some lemon tea, do have a try later.”

Brooklyn walked in a quick and steady pace. He strode pass the stairs of the villa’s main entrance. Upon entering, he encountered Mirabelle who was looking clingy, docile and delighted. As if there was a bunch of mosquitoes buzzing near his ear, Brooklyn frowned. He took off his coat as usual and tossed it to the housemaid.

Mirabelle who was standing beside him was sensitive enough to notice that. She hurriedly grabbed it over and put it on her arm, behaving like a good wife. Brooklyn glimpsed at her and frowned. He still did not say anything impatient in the end. He walked towards the couch and sat down, looked down and saw the lemon tea on the tea table.

Two lemon slices were floating in the tea. The skin of the lemon was completely peeled. There were also two halved green mini tangerines at the bottom of the cup. The bright green fruits shone with the orange one. The color was refreshing on sight, and it reminded him of Anna who was the top perfume- maker in the world that he encountered today.

That woman was reckless in her behavior. She had balls, but deep down, she was extremely reserved and shy. A kiss had exposed the fact that she sucked in kissing. How interesting. Brooklyn let out a smile. He took the tea cup before him and took a sip. The tea tasted sweet at first but the sourness and bitterness overcame the sweetness of sugar afterwards. Brooklyn frowned and no longer had interest on it.

Mirabelle quickly shoved the blazer to the housemaid, ordered her to take it upstairs and hung it in Brooklyn’s bedroom. She turned around and intended to sit beside Brooklyn. Brooklyn glimpsed at her listlessly. His cold eyes made Mirabelle panicked at once, she immediately kept a distance away from

him. She bit her lower lip with grievance and then forced out a sweet smile. “Brooklyn, I’ve taken a long while to brew the tea, is it tasty?”

Brooklyn put down the cup and crossed his legs, looking graceful and apathetic. “Still okay.” His comment was neither enthusiastic nor cold. Mirabelle had prepared the lemon tea for the whole day. She only managed to make the most perfect cup of tea after measuring the thickness of the lemon slice, simmering the sugar, trying a lot of times and making fine calculations. Yet Brooklyn only took a little sip.

“Brooklyn, if you’re not happy about it, I can improve it.” Mirabelle crossed her hands on her knees and squeezed her thumbs with nervousness. Brooklyn had slept in the VIP room for two hours. He initially felt relaxed, yet his temple suddenly throbbed when Mirabelle kept on babbling about the cup of lemon tea. He rubbed his temple, stood up and went upstairs.

Mirabelle quickly followed after him. Having sensed that, Brooklyn stopped and spoke without turning around. “Keep making your perfume at the Moss’s, you don’t have the talent to make teas, stop wasting your time!” His lofty figure disappeared at the corner of the stairs. The closing sound of the study room door was shortly heard.

Mirabelle’s face went pale and she staggered back, supporting herself with the couch. At the Moss’s, no one could oppose her identity as the perfume-maker director. Yet what she relied on was those few bottles of perfume she was left with, and those perfume bottles were even stolen from Diana back then.

She had not made any new products all these years. Even if she had occasionally made some samples and sold in large scale after excluding arguments from the public, the sales were poor and the Moss’s was seen as a joke. She called herself the number one perfume-maker in the Sliwell City all these years, but that was just a lie.

As she was enjoying the fame, she was also trembling in fear, afraid that her lie would be exposed. Brooklyn was tolerant of her in the beginning, yet he became stricter and stricter towards her. Was it because she never had a place in his heart all these time? Could it be she had mistaken about his feelings towards her after all these years?

“Miss Moss, are you alright?” Seeing her face went pale, the housemaid stepped forward and asked. “Get lost!” Mirabelle regretted and was annoyed when her embarrassed look was seen. She turned and shot her a glare. The housemaid was shocked and she quickly retreated.

Mirabelle clenched her fists and went upstairs with a livid look, entering her bedroom. She sat on the imported Persian carpet of her bedroom and opened her laptop rudely, clicking the email page open. The perfume was almost finished. If that continued, she would not be able to control Brooklyn any longer. She must not lose her identity as Brooklyn’s fiancée! She searched for Anna’s email address and sent three emails to urge her to reply at once. She also promised to give her lots of money in return.

The sky was getting dark and the stars were coming out. Diana typed the password, pushed the door open and entered her apartment. Emily who was playing Legos on the couch heard her footsteps and she scurried towards her, hugging her legs. She looked up with round eyes and said, “Mommy, I miss you.”

Seeing her little daughter’s adorable look, Diana squatted down and carried her up. “Mommy miss you too.” She put her on the couch. Having spotted the high level Legos, the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars that she had not finished, she was amazed. Those Legos were meant to be played by adults, yet that little fellow managed to finish constructing half of it in such a short time!

Diana stooped and kissed her cheeks. “Good job, Emily. Mommy would make your favorite Chinese yam pearl barley mushroom soup for dinner.” Emily kissed her face and her face was brimmed with joy.

Diana rubbed her hair and asked, “Where’s Austin?” The moment she finished, she saw Emily covering her face and said, “Austin doesn’t let me say it.”

Diana squinted with a threatening look. “Spill the beans, is Austin doing something bad again?” Austin peeked at her from the gap of her fingers. Seeing her dear daughter’s little action, she suddenly figured out of something and she immediately headed towards the study room.

The apartment was not big. There were three rooms, a living room and three huge balconies, enough for three. Diana caught Austin red-handed in the study room. He was staring at her laptop screen seriously with his pretty face. “Austin, Moss! How dare you touch my laptop again?” Diana pretended to sound furious and seized her laptop.

Austin did not look guilty at all. He crossed his arms and glimpsed at his sister who was hiding behind Diana blandly. He seemed to question her why she didn’t inform him that mommy has come back with his eyes. Emily pouted and thought that it was not her fault, it was him not paying attention to what was happening outside the room.

Seeing them making eye contacts, Diana did not know whether to smile or cry. She opened her laptop and took a glimpse, glancing at Austin. “So, what have you done this time?” Ever since she caught him hacking the laptop of the president of the Powell’s last time, she was worried that with his young age, he would do worse things next time and inevitably be led astray when he had experienced the pleasure. That was why she was exceptionally strict to his frequency of using computers.

Her temples were throbbing this time. Diana put her hand on her forehead and her face went a little pale. She heaved a deep sigh. Seeing his mother truly getting angry this time, a worried look flashed across Austin’s composed face. Upon being pushed by his sister, he walked towards her obediently. He lowered his head and hugged himself, apologizing like a tsundere, “I’m sorry, mommy. I shouldn’t touch your laptop without your permission.”

“Uh-huh.” Diana raised her eyebrow. Austin coughed and his expression was cold. “I just deleted four emails.” Emily chimed in, “They’re from that bad woman, it’s me who asked Austin to delete them.” Bad woman? Mirabelle? It turned out the reason the two little fella touched her laptop was because they were worried that she was bullied by Mirabelle.

Having figured that out, Diana was mortified. She hugged his elder son with the left arm and her little daughter with the right. “It’s mommy’s fault to let you worry. What mommy wants to tell you is, you don’t have to worry about me. That bad woman can’t bully mommy, okay?” The kids looked at each other and nodded with extreme doubts. They stared at her until she felt awkward.

Yes, she was indeed soft-hearted. After donating money to the handicapped when they were abroad, Austin would be able to tell the handicapped was just pretending the next second. There was also one time when she clicked a link on a shopping website and Austin realized she was deceived shortly after that. Luckily the money on her bank card was not much. Austin managed to hack the crook back and took back the money.

The list kept on going. Therefore, the two kids had been extremely worried of their mother. They always thought that their mother was unreliable and they had been worried sick of their mother. Diana coughed with guilt and handed the laptop to Austin. Austin instantly retrieved the emails with a few clicks.

Diana took her laptop back and read the emails with a serious look. Mirabelle wanted to hire her who was the number one perfume-maker in the world with huge amount of money. She wanted her to make three bottles of perfume and also asked her to give her an address. She would transfer the money instantly and sent the samples the next day.

Diana let out a cold smile. Interesting. Mirabelle was dying to get the perfume, what was she going to do about it? Diana replied the email and sent the address of the Powell Tower. Within one minute, she received a message and money worth ten thousands yuan had been transferred into her account.Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

Seeing the message from the bank, Diana smiled. She would be able to deal with her when she knew her purpose to use the perfume. She would then ask her to pay her back hundred times of what she had owed her!
