Love's Redemption

Redmption 116

Redmption 116

Jewel was so stunned that she couldn’t say another word. She stood rooted to the place after being utterly humiliated. This was all a result of her own doing.

“Ms. Massey, if there’s nothing else, you should go home. You’re carrying a dead man’s child. If anything happened, that would be really bad,” I said out of concern, not malice.

Since she decided to keep this child, she must have her reasons. She should be more careful and not just go anywhere by herself. She even went to the amusement park, which was a really dangerous place.

Unless–she secretly didn’t want this child,

The thought flashed across my mind. I felt shocked. I scrutinized her face, but I couldn’t deduce anything aside from her humiliation from my insults.

I said what I was supposed to say and vented my anger, so I turned around to leave.

“Do you really not love Chris anymore? You don’t want to be with him anymore?

Jewel’s voice sounded behind me.

I smiled and didn’t even turn back. “Yeah, I’ll let you have him.”

Despite that, she might not even be able to hold on to him.

Chris‘ childish and crazy actions these days made me feel that he still had feelings for me. However, he realized this too late. Now that I broke up with. him, he was making all sorts of trouble for me to get my attention.

Hence, his feelings toward Jewel were probably not that intense, and being with her was an impulsive decision on his part. Even so, I couldn’t forgive him.

It was all or nothing–either I didn’t have him, or he would be mine alone. I would not allow my partner to hang around other women. If that happened, I wouldn’t hesitate to cut him off.

“Then, don’t contact him anymore. It’s even better if you don’t see him at all.”

Jewel’s reply made me truly speechless.

Of course I knew her feelings for Chris were genuine. Even if it wasn’t, she still

wanted to cling to this man, who not only provided her with necessities but also an unlimited card to swipe.

I reached the elevator and looked back at her, tilting my head. I scoffed, “Then, why don’t you give me ten million dollars so I can live in the countryside? This way, your wish will be granted.”

Jewel’s face scrunched up in anger as she gripped the folds of her dress. Previously, she said she didn’t have money, so she used Chris‘ card. I just called her out on it.

The elevator doors opened, and I went in without a second glance.

I returned to my and Kara’s room. Because I was bored, I looked up a television series that Kara was watching and started to stream it on my phone.

It was quite entertaining. After a few episodes, I heard a voice outside my door. It was Brandon.

“Ms. Spraggins, please ask Ms. Crown to come to my room in ten minutes.”

“Okay,” Kara replied and opened the door.

Before I even saw her face, I saw her shoes being flung across the room.

“I’m exhausted! Is this even humane?” Kara ranted while walking into the room.

I put down the phone and patted the couch beside me. “Come here. Let me give you a massage.”

Kara came over and didn’t lie down but hugged me. “Maddie, come back. I can’t do this without you.”

I patted her head. “If you want to take on bigger responsibilities, you need to push through this. Go shower and sleep.”

“No. I want to sleep now.” Kara was about to get up when she saw the paused scene on my phone. She pouted. “Maddie, you’re so mean!”

I smiled placatingly. “Be a good girl. When your work is done, and you’re on a break, you can watch it all day long.” All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

Kara snorted. Before she went into the bedroom, she said, “Mr. Howell wants you to go to his room.”

“Yeah.” I had heard it.

“Maddie, I suddenly feel that he isn’t charming anymore. I’m now his hater.” I almost laughed at her words.

It seemed like Brandon didn’t let her slack off today.
