Chapter 25
Chapter 25
The look on Angeline’s face changed instantly.
I would’ve been fine if they chose someone else, but they went with Denise, of all people? I understand that it’s perfectly normal for celebrities working under the same company to have some form of competition with each other. However, not only has Denise always competed with me over product endorsements and roles in shows, but she also picked fights with me very often. I bet she’s the one who hired someone to slander me with those articles online!
“Are you saying that a huge company like Golding Group can’t even provide me with a proper reason for terminating my contract? You can’t just have me replaced without a proper explanation! I won’t accept this decision!” Angeline confronted Evander with her fists tightly clenched.
As if he had just heard the funniest joke ever, Evander let out a chuckle in response. “You won’t accept this decision? Who do you think you are?” he asked with his lips curled into a mocking grin.
“Rest assured that we will compensate you accordingly for terminating your contract, Ms. Sorelle,” Sylas reminded her cautiously.
“This isn’t about the money! If you’re going to replace me with my rival, then you should at least tell me the reason behind that decision! Do you guys not have any integrity at all?” Angeline yelled angrily.
Evander was starting to grow impatient as he said, “I have the freedom to choose who endorses the products of my company’s subsidiaries. Even if I needed a reason for doing so, I have no obligation to inform you of said reason.”
Angeline fell silent upon hearing that.
He’s right… Golding Group belongs to him, so he has the complete freedom to decide who endorses the products of its subsidiaries…
Realizing that Angeline was in a pinch, Floretta tugged at Evander’s cufflinks as she said, “But Denise doesn’t look as pretty as Angel, nor is she nearly as popular. A lot of people out there don’t like her, so you’ll have a hard time selling the jewelry that she endorses. This is obviously a bad deal!”
Despite her being a five-year-old girl, her analysis of endorsements was rather sound.
What shocked everyone even more was the fact that she held nothing back when talking to Evander. “Daddy, your company will go out of business if you keep managing it like this! How will you afford to raise me, then?”
As her rude behavior was the result of him spoiling her, Evander had long since gotten used to it. Although he was fine with Floretta talking back to him, his feelings of disgust toward Angeline only intensified when Floretta took her side.
If there was one thing he couldn’t stand the most, it was people using his daughter to get what they wanted, regardless of their reasons.
“Sylas, I want you to get the contract signed with that Denise or whatever her name was as soon as possible.”
Throughout his many years of working for Evander, this was the first time Sylas had seen him get so angry. “Yes, sir. I’ll go prepare the contract right away.” Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
“Wait!” Angeline and Floretta called out to him in unison.
Floretta then hopped off the couch and ran up to Sylas. “Nobody is going anywhere unless Daddy agrees to let Angel endorse the products!” she shouted while standing in front of him with her arms outstretched.
As Floretta was Evander’s most precious daughter, Sylas didn’t even dare lay a finger on her as he pleaded, “Please don’t make this situation any more difficult, Ms. Floretta.”
“Floretta may be a child, but she is completely right about what she just said. Mr. Golding, I know you don’t like me, but you shouldn’t let your personal emotions influence your decisions!” Angeline added.
Me? Let my personal emotions get in the way?
The look on Evander’s face grew cold when he heard that. “What makes you think you’re capable of affecting my decisions?”
“Everybody knows I could bring the company more profits than Denise, so why would you choose her over me? It’s obvious that your decisions are affected by your bias toward me!” Angeline snapped back at him.
Evander’s eyes were filled with rage at that point. “Sylas!”
“No! You’re not going anywhere!” Floretta refused to budge from the door.
Infuriated, Evander shouted at her sternly, “Get over here, Floretta!”
After racking her brain for an idea, Floretta’s eyes lit up as she suggested, “How about you have Angel and Denise both shoot an ad for Starlight Jewelry, Daddy? You can hire the one with the best results!”
“Ads cost money to shoot, Floretta! You’ve gone way too far! Come here right this instant!” Evander scolded her impatiently.
No brand out there would possibly release two ads from different ambassadors.
Although Angeline found Floretta’s suggestion preposterous, she didn’t want to interrupt as she was on her side.
“Actually, we can somehow make Ms. Floretta’s suggestion work.” Sylas shot Angeline a glance as he continued hesitantly, “Mr. Golding, the company is planning on setting up a public welfare foundation, right? Since we haven’t decided on a candidate for the foundation’s advertisements, we could have multiple people endorsing it. It’s quite a common practice these days.”
