Mia used to be so obedient, never once talking back. But ever since she asked for a divorce, it felt like she had become a completely different person.

Now, she argued with him over everything. Hunter wanted her to get out of the car to cool off.

I'm scared of the dark! I'm not getting out!" Mia bit her ip, refusing to budge.

When she was six, she had lost her younger sister, and as punishment, her parents locked her in a dark room. Ever since then, she had been terrifled of the dark.

"You can stay in the car, but then you're coming to the hospital with me to apologize to Jenna," Hunter said coldly.

Mia felt a sharp pain in her chest. She bit her lip harder before responding slowly, "Fine, I'll get out."

She hadn't done anything wrong. Apologizing to Jenna would be like admitting guilt, and she wasn't going to carry that burden for something she didn't do.

As soon as Mia stepped out of the car, Hunter glanced in the rearview mirror, then hit the gas and drove off. He figured that once she had time to calm down and realize she needed to apologize to Jenna, he would come back to pick her up. Standing on the side of the road, even with an umbrella, the cold wind seemed to pierce through Mia's body. She hugged her arms tightly, shivering, and quickly pulled out her phone to call Summer.

"Summer, can you pick me up on the Haven Highway?"

"Did you crash again? Summer sounded worried. "And at the same spot too? That's so unlucky!" she thought.

"No, no crash. Hunter just left me here." Mia explained hurriedly.

"That jerk! I bet he ran off to see that witch Jenna, didn't he?" Summer cursed, fuming.

After being framed by Jenna earlier that day, Summer was livid. How could someone as twisted as Jenna be considered "good"? And Hunter, that idiot, had both bad eyesight and a broken brain! "Just come get me, and I'll explain later!" Mia's voice trembled. The darkness around her felt suffocating. and her fear was building fast. She just wanted to leave as soon as possible. "Okay, hang tight! I'm on my way!"

After hanging up, Mia crouched down, hugging herself tightly to fight off the cold. It didn't help much.

Suddenly, the screech of tires pierced the air as a car came to a sharp stop right in front of her.

Mia's first instinct was to run. But before she could take more than a couple of steps, a car door swung open. Several men, dressed in trendy clothes, got out one after another. She barely made it a few feet before they caught her. Her umbrella slipped from her grasp, hitting the ground as rain splattered on her face. Her body trembled uncontrollably. "Whoa! Check out this hottie!"

"Damn, she's a stunner!"Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

"Way better than any of my exes!"

"Boss, I want her!"

The men's lewd voices filled the air, and the strong stench of alcohol hit Mia's nose. She knew all too wet that if she fell into the hands of these drunkards, there would be no escape. Taking a deep breath, she forced herself to stay calm, her mind racing for a way out.

"Don't be scared, sweetheart. We're not after your money, just a good time. Make us happy, and we'll even take you home afterward!" one of the men slurred, his speech heavy with alcohol, making his words sound strange. "There are cameras everywhere these days. Every move you make is being recorded. By the time you're done, the cops will have found you," Mia said, her tone steady and calm.

"Why don't we head to a hotel instead?" She knew if they took her to a hotel, she would have a better chance of escaping.

The man chuckled darkly. "What, you think we're stupid? Take you to a hotel so you can call the cops on us? We'd be dead before we even knew it." He leaned in closer, reaching out to touch her face.

"Come on, be good. Make it easy on yourself. Now, you getting in the car on your own, or do I have to carry you?" As he spoke, his eyes lingered hungrily on Mia's breasts, where her shirt was rain-soaked.
